This has been asked before, and i've seen many of the previous posts. And tried for hours. But finally i've broken and have to ask for help. What am I doing wrong here?
var u=document.forms["lead"]["name"].value;
var v=document.forms["lead"]["city"].value;
var x=document.forms["lead"]["country"].value;
var y=document.forms["lead"]["mobile"].value;
var z=document.forms["lead"]["email"].value;
I am doing some basic form validation stuff and I have two fields (phone, fax) that I need to check if the characters enterred are numeric, but still allow + and () characters to be enterred. If anything else has been enterred to display an error message.
Can someone point me to a resource ( I searched, but couldn't find an obvious one!) or give me a rundown on some code here to help me out?
I am having problems with the code below (obviously) coming up with illegal character for various characters within the field name which is: S_Gift Finder1_0
I have tried various ways of escaping the characters but to no avail.
I am unable to change the name of the field as it it comes from an external off-the-shelf package. Code ....
I'm trying to add a text box to a form that has some other complications. My "mcomment" in the code below does work but will only accept numbers, and the whole idea was text.
Code: function n_od(type) { var f = document.forms.create_account; $("#id_od").html("<img src='images/nr_loading1.gif' border=0>"); subcat3 = escape($("#subcat3").val()); if (type == 2) $("#id_od").load("n_autos.php?step=115&w="+f.width.value+ "&fractionw="+$("#fractionw").val()+"&length_in="+f.length_in.value+ "&fractionl="+$("#fractionl").val()+"&mcomment="+f.mcomment.value+ "&mcat="+$("#mcat").val()+"&subcat="+$("#subcat").val()+"&subcat3="+subcat3); else { $("#id_od").load("n_autos.php?step=116&w="+f.width.value+"&fractionw="+ $("#fractionw").val()+"&length_in="+f.length_in.value+"&fractionl="+ $("#fractionl").val()+"&mcomment="+f.mcomment.value+"&mcat="+$("#mcat").val()); } }
I would like to strip out all of the commas in numeric text field called test on blur. New to jQuery. I have had a go at coding would it work? $('input#test').val($('input#test').val().replace(/,/g,'')); and ....... how do i calll it?
Question 1: I have a spinner function and I have one slight problem with it. If a user types in 00000009 or 00021 in the spinner for example, if the user clicks away from the spinner, it will still display 00000009 or 00021 in the spinner. What I want is that if something like this happens, then what I want is that when the user clicks away, I want the spinner to display it as 9 or 21 rather than 00000009 or 00021. I don't know how to do this though. Does anyone know how to overcome this:
Question 2: If I used backspace to remove a number from a spinner and that is left with a blank spinner, what needs to be done so that if I click away from the spinner, the last number in the spinner re-appears in the spinner?
I'm writing a form validation function and would like to verify that a field only contains alphanumeric characters. How should I structure that statement? the following seems logical but doesn't work;
I have a web form with several fields. If I copy & paste from a RTF document into a field, the javascript validation and field length are bypassed and cause the form to fail.
I am unable to solve two problems creating a contacts form using dreamweaver CS3. My other problem is posted under the heading, "Modify code created with Dreamweaver CS3, to compare two text feilds". For this posting, can someone please tell me how to modify my code, pasted below, so that the "First Name" and "Last Name" text fields are restricted to accepting only alphabetical characters.
Here's my current code
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Untitled Document</title>
I have a problem in asp application validation. My textbox only accepts numeric value.It should not accept empty field and negative values and charcters.I am not aware of IsNan function.
I am having trouble with some javascript code that checks the first 2 letters of what the user inputs and whether it equals a certain set of characters. If the user for instance types in 'TT' in an input field, then i want the holding div to disappear, if anything else is typed in then this action wont happen. My code is below:
Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function checkCode() { var x=document.forms["myform"]["code"].value.substring(0, 2); if (x == 'TT')
[Code]...
I believe the problem lies in the javascript line: "if (x == 'TT')", as the rest of the script responds but it just doesnt recognise whether 'x' starts with 'TT'
I have an email which has some values attached to a link in the email that get passed to an online form on a website when clicked. Problem is the value is a price and the string includes a "$" which I need to remove. I've read through many examples and everyone seems to have an opinion (surprise). One suggests something like this: text2.value=text1.value.replace(/$/g,""); While someone else says its better to remove what you don't want. I am also scratching my head over should I place the value into a hidden field, scrub it then copy that into the proper field? and I imagine the best way would be to run it with an "onload" command instead or a event handler like a keystroke since the field is not typed?
I am working on a javascript code for validating phone numbers against 0's.The scenario is that, 1 ) If the phone number contains all 0's in it, an error message is displayed. Eg. 0, 0000, 000-000-0000, 000,0000000000 etc..2 ) Phone number should only take digits [0-9] and some delimiters ()-,.+ "All other alphabets and special characters are not allowed.Eg. 01, 102-125-0214, etc.. ( allowed ) sjjlkjkj, xllfs -09-49- ( not allowed )3 ) The code I have written is as below -
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
i think this will help people a lot, cuz i couldn't find any simple answer by googling 3 hours...i need a very very simple jquery form field reset.here is the picture what i need:
HTML Code: <script type='text/javascript' src='http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.6.4.min.js'></script> <script>
Below is a script i found that would countdown the characters in a form element. I have a form that comes "pre-populated" with text. Can this script be modifed such that the counter would be initiated with the length of the text area in question?
Code:
function CountLeft(field, count, max) { if (field.value.length > max)
I have this script for replacing characters on form fields. I want to use it to remove letter accents. It is made to replace just one character, but I'm trying to modify it to replace many characters at once, but I'm not being able to get it to work correctly.
These are the characters that I would like to include code...
The following form validation script works, currently if one of the five fields are completed, a message appears the remaining field(s) must be completed etc. Although the information the user has inputted in the first field is cleared. How can this information be available, if there is one problem in the form it doesn't make sense that the user must re-input all the information again. I look forward to hearing your response,
i have a html/php form which let users upload pictures onto my server. the problem with it is, it says the picture has been uploaded but if the file name contains any of character apart from text (A-z) and numbers, the picture never shows up in the admin panel.
is there a way using ajax or jquery to disallow certain file names in the upload field of the html which uses these characters !@#$%^'&*()"?
With the code I had to acknowledge nothing had been inserted,(that is, still spaces, it was working. When I added the code to only accept alpha chars etc., I inserted numbers, nothing worked, with no error message. Would you, or can I send the whole code through for the form. I noticed that the form tags had been changed so I altered them as well according to your message.
I am trying to figure out how to submit a form via javascript, when a user enters in 9 characters into a text field. Can't seem to find out how to do this...
my javascript code is only validating one field at a time (as in it validates on field then submits the form, instead of going through the entire thing and then returning it as true and submitting it...) I'm not sure what to do to be honest, I've looked up google to no real avail.. my variables are declared in a seperate file to the actual even handlers and I have heaps of comments through out it, so please don't judge lol i'm still learning Quote:
//Event Registrations (Variable Declarations) found in validation_chkr.js //Validate Entire Form using validate_join() function validate_join()
Is there a way I can calculate a field in a form based on another field in the same form. When clicking submit, both values should be posted to the next page. I want to be able to type in a value in one field, and automatically in a second field the value*1,36 should appear.
I have a site for property bookings with 2 calendars to enter start and end date. The calendar im using doesnt have any obvious facility to copy yhe date to 2 fields so each one has to be done, months in advance this can be a real pain.
Does anyone have any ideas how i can take the data inserted into one field and copy it to the second?
