May 2, 2007If I select some text with mouse in a webpage, how can I know what I selected? For example, if i select this text now and I press B(old) this text is surrounded by [ B ] [ /B ]. How can I achieve this?

However, I'm trying to find a way like this: I have two text links on my page: Select All, and Select None. How can I get those links to call a jquery function to select all or select no checkboxes in my form? As a little food for thought:

Jul 23, 2011I have a text (sentence) in a textbox. How do I select a word under the mouse pointer/cursor? That textarea may not have focus in it. My plan is to find the index of the cursor position on the textarea. then go left and right from that index. Stop on getting space on both side. Find both the indexes and select that range. But I am not able to do it. I am stuck in the first step.

Aug 28, 2010i am trying to pass text from one select box to another select box. The logic is if 10 are added, no more passing must happen. Also if an item is already added, it mustn't be added again.I am using the for loop to check the existence of an item but it is not working: what am i doing wrong?

why isn't counter incrementing at all? The alert message box does appear saying item exists but the item gets added anyway.

Jan 21, 2011I'm trying to get a select box to display text from a database in a div tag from the select box populated by a while loop that also pulls from the database. The only way I can do this is from a javascript written by sending it over to a second page and I need it on just one page. Here is my code below:

Text Revealing - When Mouse Is Not Over The Click-button A Text Should Be Displayed At The Right Of The Button
Jun 2, 2010I'm looking for a javascript/css code that can do the following, for a click button:
- When mouse is not over the click-button, a text should be displayed at the right of the button, in a bordered textbox - 85% transparency (hardly visible)
(- when mouse hovers over the button, the button image changes to a different one <- I know how to do this)
- When the button is clicked the text shows up normaly (0% transparency)
- When clicking again the button OR anywhere else on the page, the text goes back to 85% transparency.

Feb 24, 2011I want to create a webpage that has a grid of 8 images displayed on the left side of the page. All the images are "dimmed" by default and when the user moves their mouse over an image, it lightens to its normal state. What I want to do is when they hover the mouse over an image, display a chunk of text in thearea to theright of the image grid. Essentially, the images act as a kind of menu and when the mouse hovers I want some details to be displayed. Ideally, I want to format the text to make it look good - so am not sure if it would be better to create an image containing my text and display this image when the mouse hovers.

For example, if a user clicks on a word in a paragraph, I need to programmatically know what the text is surrounding the click point. The text in question is not just content text, but DOM elements read in as text rather than the DOM element itself. For example, if a user clicks at the word "This" in the following:
<table><tr><td>This is good</td></tr> then I would like to know how to get the text "<td>" just before the "This" as text, not as a DOM element. Furthermore, how can I "enlargen" the scope of my capture, such that I can programmatically get the "<table><tr><td>" part as well as the "is good</td></tr>" part?
