I put in a code, so that when you hover over a link, text appears at the bottom of the page. My code works fine in IE 8, but the text doesn't appear in Firefox. I ran Firebug, and it gave me a "detailsbox is not defined" error.
<script type="text/javascript">
function menu (whichMenu,whatState){

I'm trying to experiment with some javascript to do some custom
dragdrop handling. I wish to use the onMouseDown event to trigger the
start of my drag, and onMouseup for a potentential drop. I hope to
turn on the onmouseup only in onmousedown. And eventually go one step
further and incorporate onmousemove for a true drag workflow.
I'm running into a problem however, where after mousedown, mouseup will
not fire when I release the mouse button. It will however fire if I
click again. So the event isn't being tracked until I release the
mouse the first time apparently. Which ruins my dragDrop of course.
Below is the code. You can see a move() method that would incorporate
onmousemove, but for the most basic test I'm just using beginDrag and
endDrag.
Any ideas why onmouseup won't fire until I release the button, then
click again?

First the code:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">

When I use mouse wheel in Firefox to scroll contents of the DIV, memory usage in Firefox goes through the roof. Code above is a fully working page, if anyone would like to see what's up, just load it up, and start moving your mouse wheel in the area with text. You don't actually have to scroll the text, just moving the wheel back and forth in that DIV will do. Memory usage will start going up quite fast, and after you stop moving the wheel, it will finally come down a bit after a short while. I've highlighted in red the line where mousewheel event is registered for Firefox. I'm not sure if it's really a problem, but since Opera and IE don't have any strange memory usage, and Firefox does, maybe I did something wrong. In everyday use it shouldn't matter [don't expect to have kilometers of content to scroll], but anyway, it is a bit unsettling.

Firstly visit the following page: [url]
As you can see, it is editing images using the HTML5 canvas and the plugin pixastic.
Once the image has been edited, I need a way to store that edited image. Perhaps in an array or database (all suggestions welcome)
On top of this, it would also be nice to be able to display this array of images in the bottom blue box, although this is not essential.

I want to create fileds on my form that can not be manually edited
through the UI of the form. Instead the (visible) content is changed
through changes on other parts of the form.
e.g. making a selection from a list changes the content of the field
mentioned above. I don't know the html code to create such a field on my form. Can
anyone help me out?

I have a bunch of links that when you mouseover should bring up a window with extra information. The links look like
Code:
<a href="#" onMouseOver="popInfo(this)" onMouseOut="unpopInfo(this)">Link Text</a>
Here's the code for the tw functions, popInfo and unpopInfo:
Code:
function popInfo(x) {
var posx = 0;
var posy = 0;
if (!e) var e = window.event;
if (e.pageX || e.pageY)
{
posx = e.pageX;
posy = e.pageY;
}
else if (e.clientX || e.clientY)
{
posx = e.clientX + document.body.scrollLeft;
posy = e.clientY + document.body.scrollTop;
}
var infoBox = x.parentNode.getElementsByTagName('div')[0];
infoBox.className = 'infoBoxHover'
infoBox.style.left = posx;
infoBox.style.top = posy;
}
function unpopInfo(x) {
var infoBox = x.parentNode.getElementsByTagName('div')[0];
infoBox.className = 'infoBox'
}
This is working perfectly in IE and Opera but in firefox it's saying that window.event has no properties. I don't know much about javascript so I don't know where to start. Some help would be great.

I found this nice script to put anything next to my mouse. It works in Internet Explorer, Opera and Safari, burt it does not work in firefox. I think that the problem has something to do with "getElementById", but It could also be something else.
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
<html>
<head>
<title>mouse follower</title>
<!-- Start of mouse follower script -->
<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
function doMouseMove()
{
curicon.style.pixelLeft=event.clientX-68
curicon.style.pixelTop=event.clientY-66
}
document.onmousemove=doMouseMove;
// -->
</script>
<!-- End of mouse follower script -->
</head>
<body>
<!-- Start of mouse follower -->
<div id="curicon" name="curicon" style="position:absolute; left:-250px; z-index:2">
<!-- Put anything here and it will go be-side the mouse. -->
hello
</div>
<!-- End of mouse follower -->
</body>

I'm looking for a javascript/css code that can do the following, for a click button:
- When mouse is not over the click-button, a text should be displayed at the right of the button, in a bordered textbox - 85% transparency (hardly visible)
(- when mouse hovers over the button, the button image changes to a different one <- I know how to do this)
- When the button is clicked the text shows up normaly (0% transparency)
- When clicking again the button OR anywhere else on the page, the text goes back to 85% transparency.

I want to create a webpage that has a grid of 8 images displayed on the left side of the page. All the images are "dimmed" by default and when the user moves their mouse over an image, it lightens to its normal state. What I want to do is when they hover the mouse over an image, display a chunk of text in thearea to theright of the image grid. Essentially, the images act as a kind of menu and when the mouse hovers I want some details to be displayed. Ideally, I want to format the text to make it look good - so am not sure if it would be better to create an image containing my text and display this image when the mouse hovers.

I am currently adding BBCode to my website, and I posted a while ago in this forum for a script that would add tags to my textarea when clicking an BBcode image. But my next problem now is that I need those tags to appear around selected text and at the mouse cursor if no text is selected. Currently all it does is just add the tags at the end of your sentence if you've written something in the textarea. Here is the code I use:
function lolwut(txt)
{
var ta = document.getElementById("my_ta");
ta.value += txt;
}
window.onload = function()
{
lolwut("");
}

I am hoping you can help me. I am finding this problem rather complex to solve. I need to be able to find the surrounding text at the mouse position. For example, if a user clicks on a word in a paragraph, I need to programmatically know what the text is surrounding the click point. The text in question is not just content text, but DOM elements read in as text rather than the DOM element itself. For example, if a user clicks at the word "This" in the following:
<table><tr><td>This is good</td></tr> then I would like to know how to get the text "<td>" just before the "This" as text, not as a DOM element. Furthermore, how can I "enlargen" the scope of my capture, such that I can programmatically get the "<table><tr><td>" part as well as the "is good</td></tr>" part?
