Make Text Effect Continuous - But Can't Get It To Work?
Mar 19, 2010
I found the following code on a web site. It displays text as if it were being typed but it only does it once. I have been trying to use various functions to make the effect continuous, i.e. make the header appear as typing text, clear the text, again make the header appear as typing text, clear the text, and so on. I wish this to continue for as long as the web page is open. But I just can't get it to work.
[code]
<h2 id="fly">Header</h2>
<script type="text/javascript">
//Use "$" for linebreak[code]....
I am using li-scroller. As it is, it scrolls through the content, then doesn'tstart againat the beginning until the content has scrolled out of view. I would like it to close that gap, and never have a break in the scrolling content. Just loop through it continuously
So here's what I'm trying to do. Creat a continuous text fade-in / fade-out. Basically I'm going to have a banner at the top of a page that loops through text from a db. So, I get my data and create the divs and a csv that I pass to js as an array, all good, that works. This is what it would look like:
<div id="div_one"> Text 1...... </div> <div id="div_two"> Text 2...... </div> <div id="div_three"> Text 3...... </div> And then the js array is Array('div_1,'div_2','div_3') etc. Now, this is where I'm getting mixed up, I want to loop that array of div id's and fade them in / out one by one.
Here's what I've tried: loop_running = false; function start_loop(){ loop_running = true; }function end_loop(){ loop_running = false; }function loop(arr){ if(arr.length > 0){ for(i=0;i<arr.length;i++){ if(loop_running == false){ // set loop_running var to true start_loop(); // fade in div fadeIn(arr[i], 1000); // pause for 3 seconds then fade out var t = setTimeout("fadeOut('"+arr[i]+"'), 1000", 3000); // now set another timer to end the loop after 5 seconds var e = setTimeout("end_loop()", 5000); } // now check to see if we're at the end of our array, if we are we need to call this function again to repeate if(i == arr.length){ // repeat loop(arr); }}}}
But that just gets the first div and then stops after fading out.... I've tried other variations too but with no avail..... I need to be able to tell the for loop to take 5 seconds for every one, so as it's looping it'll get the first div (first one in the aray), fade it up over one second, pause for 3 seconds then fade out, then get the next index in the array and do it again until it gets to the end of the array then it'll repeat.
I'm trying to make a slot machine effect in JS - i had an ajax example but was far too complicated to manipulate to communicate with my server so im working from ground up.
The way ive done it is simple html and a submit button.
But i want the submit button to first create a "rolling through the images" affect like a slot machine does - then stop left to right in that order (basically like a slot machine does).
Now this is beyond what i know in JS but i then also want it to know the result of the images store them into an array and push it to my PHP so i can process it on my server.
I'm kinda stuck with jQuery. I generally write code in PHP and do simple stuff with Javascript. But I need to make an effect on a module of my page.

Is this even possible? I don't want/can't preload random content and have it hidden. I could probably do this the simple way with js. Emptying the old content and replacing it with the new random content but I need the animation. I'll keep "decoding" the documentation while waiting for a response.
Since I changed hosts for my web site Ive had a few creases to iron out. I'm hoping this is the last one...
Basically on this page http://www.pauserefreshment.co.uk/go...arch_2010.html i had a really cool light box effect pulled from this site code...
Unfortunately it no longer works :-( Ive checked the file paths and cant see the problem. I'm totally foxed. The CSS and java script files look the same so I just cannot fathom why when you point over an image on this page http://www.pauserefreshment.co.uk/go...arch_2010.html the light box effect remains disabled.
I am trying to use this JQuery Loupe effect to magnify small images on mouseover, but would like to be able to click on those magnified images to open a lightbox or to link to another page, but I can't seem to make it work!!
I am having a problem of getting mouseover event work on a webpage which is pre-populated by a third party tool twiki. The html code is something like this:
this will not work on change. also the innerhtml wont display. please help. here is the js:
function checkemail(){ if (document.suform.email.value && document.suform.emailcheck.value) { if (document.suform.email.value == document.suform.emailcheck.value)
Is there a js out there that makes text look like it is being handwritten by appearing pixel by pixel or something? I have seen this in action but it was a frames site and I coudln't get into it to see how they did it by source. Maybe this is a flash effect?
I don't know if this is the right forum for this question, but I recall seeing an effect on a page where the test fades in from the top down ? Where can I find this ?
In this webpage drshama.bravehost.com/documents.html
I like to create on mouseover on text the image should display in one frame box. on second text i mouseover, it should display the image in the same frame box... like that on all
i want to do text fadein ,fade out using javascript onload page. actually i want to display text which is in database that text will appear in front end with fadein and fadeout effect.
How to create animated Neon Sign Board using jQuery? I want to create it only with text without using images. Is it possible to create using text shadow?
I am new to javascript, and am having an issue, which I'm sure is elementary.. I found a script for expandable content, it suffices fine. As it stands, the script toggles images onclick. For example, whence the menu is collapsed, it displays "plus.gif" next to it, and when the menu is expanded, it displays "minus.gif" next to it.
Basically, what I would like to know is, thus: how would I change it to display text icons next to it? For example, in place of "plus.gif" I should like it to display "+" as actual text. I've dredged a number of places, however, I've found nothing. Furthermore, I cannot figure out how to do it.
<script language="JavaScript"> <!-- Begin var msg="I am flashing!"; var speed=300; var visible=0; function Flash() { if (visible = 0) { window.status=msg; visible=1; } else { window.status=" "; visible=0;:confused: } setTimeout('Flash()', speed); } // End --> </script>
I've been following this tutorial (and it works great)URL...Just cannot figure out how to make one of the Text Fields a Text Area with cols="45" rows="5".Every combination I've tried turns off the validation. I've already added completely different text fields from what are shown in the tutorial so I know how to change up the javascript I just can't get the Text Area right.
I cant get to know how can i make a dynamic box work with sql!i found this code online which takes in the values from database and puts it in combo box one,once a field in combo box one is selected the related field will be displayed in combo box two.its like country and state combo box but from sql database. it does not load from database the field for combo box one.
I am seeking to change the color attribute in my CSS file under the ID's #realmaturesingles and #seniorpeoplemeet upon the hovering of these links. These two ID's are initialized inside an <a> tag (these are links). How can I do this with JavaScript? This is what I tried:
I am trying to run three continuous slideshows on the same page. The script I am currently using is written below. Can it be modified so I can run all three slides at once on the same page?
<html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- var image1=new Image() image1.src="firstcar.gif" var image2=new Image() image2.src="secondcar" var image3=new Image() image3.src="thirdcar.gif" //--> </script> </head> <body> <img src="firstcar.gif" name="slide" width="100" height="56" /> <script> <!-- //variable that will increment through the images var step=1 function slideit(){ //if browser does not support the image object, exit. if (!document.images) return document.images.slide.src=eval("image"+step+".src") if (step<3) step++ else step=1 //call function "slideit()" every 2.5 seconds setTimeout("slideit()",2500) } slideit() //--> </script> </body> </html>
I have a php page which displays records on the page. I have pagination in these pages which limits the output to a set amount of records per page. As i am designing a display only screen i want it to constantly loop through the links on the page after a set time. My code is:
<script type="text/javascript"> <!-- function delay(){
[code]...
so now it opens screen.php then after 5 secs it goes to screen.php?page=1 (same page) then just keeps refreshing after 5 secs the same page. E.g if i had 10 links on the page i want it to go screen.php?page=2 then page=3 and so on until page=10 then it goes back to the first link i.e page=1 and continuously do this.
