Load An HTML Image From Memory Instead Of A Physical File?
Jan 16, 2011
I am developing a mobile app using html/css/js; this app needs to capture images using phone's camera and perform some actions on the images. Since I am using js, which by definition and design does not and can not have I/O functions, I keep the images in memory. However, when I try to display the pictures, using <IMG SRC='...'> it seems that the only way for HTML to load an image is from a physical, disk-based file. Since the trivial solution (to create a "RAM disk" and put these "files" there) is not accessible from html/css/js platform, I wonder if someone else have had this problem before.

I want to get the physical memory status, say, the total amount of
physical memory, the free memory, and so on, from the javascript, is it
a mission impossible?

I wanna send a file thru the JQuery.load, I want it to work exactly like the regular post without the JQuery. So I can check the $_FILES['file']['error'] in PHP and all its features like I do without using JQuery.
$("#load").load('gerenciar_itens.php',{/* This is where I wanna pass the file. */}, function(data){
alert(data);
});

I have a .js file, we want to make it to load a html file right next to it, both files are on client system. I couldn't find any such examples and some posts talked about JavaScript security issues, I wonder if it is related to what I want.
Someone said .js file is not really JaveScript file, though Microsoft named it 'JavaScript'.
note that I am trying to "call" .html file from the .js file, not embed html code in .js.

How to load external html (e.g. test.html) into index.html?
test.html contains links, div, css and its own javascript code.
I tried this [url] but it doesnt work. I can load external html file but it loads only css, links and div, not javascripot code which is attached to that file.

I was reading up on how to load and parse an XML file into an html page and I found through w3 a great tutorial with sample code: [URL]. It appears to work fine on their website but when I try it from my desktop it doesn't work. So what I have is an html file with contents:
<html><body>
<h1>W3Schools Internal Note</h1>
<div>
<b>To:</b> <span id="to"></span><br />
<b>From:</b> <span id="from"></span><br />
<b>Message:</b> <span id="message"></span>
</div>
<script type="text/javascript">
if (window.XMLHttpRequest)
{// code for IE7+, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari
xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest();
} else {
// code for IE6, IE5 .....
And then the xml file named "note.xml":
<note>
<to>Tove</to>
<from>Jani</from>
<heading>Reminder</heading>
<body>Don't forget me this weekend!</body>
</note>
For the record I have tried this in chrome and ie.

I'm building a JavaScript-based calendar for a client that will require me to replace the page's HTML based on the user's input. For example, if the user clicks on a particular date, then the month/week calendar will be replaced with the day calendar. Needless to say, there are several event listeners involved. However, if I suddenly swap out the month calendar for a day calendar, does that mean that there are several event listeners in memory for elements that no longer exist? Or are those listeners destroyed when the elements are destroyed? Basically my question is, every time I swap out the HTML, do I have to detach all of the old events too?

I wanted help for a JavaScript code. You might think I'm lazy for not writing it myself, but the truth is I am not a JavaScript coder. I just have a really simple website and I am trying to do something for which I know JS is required but I don't know how to do it. I've also searched around but couldn't find the appropriate code.
What I want to do is to make an html page load a different background image every time it refreshes.I will have a list of background images and I want to be able to add in this list, without having to change anything else in the codes after I do this (I think this is made by making an array of images and by putting .length somewhere in the codes, but I don't know exactly how I should do this).I already know how to do an external file (.js) and link to it from my .html page.Now I want the code to put in the .js file, and the code to put in the <body> of my .html file.

I have a JS which I have already started to try to customise, but I am having some difficulty with it in that when I click on an image, it does not take me to my html page.with care.html. Although all files are in the same folder, I get an error indicating that the fille cannot be found (I have checked the file name spelling). I am not doing any of this online as the Web pages, when working, will be put on CDs.

Got an assignment for a javascript class and I have been banging my head against the wall for a week now.[code]In the main page I have tried several different ways to access the "src" property of the image, none of which I am 100% sure is correct. I think the problem is in the main page, in that I am not accessing the image right, but I could be wrong. I have spent hours on google and digging through the book, but I am still coming up empty handed.

I've followed an online tutorial and successfully created a gallery with a horizontal slide bar using [very specifically] JQuery versions 1.2.6.js and jquery-ui-full-1.5.2.min.js (since otherwise, it does not seem to work).After creating the gallery in the index.html, I decided to put all gallery and slider related scripts into a separate html file to be called with a PHP and ajax script. Here's the problem: While the slider [image] components as well as gallery images [in the slider] loads fine, the slider handler does not work anymore! You can see my problem when you select 'Gallery' from my website. Scroll to the bottom where the horizontal slider is and try moving it. 5%-10% of the time it works, for some odd reason.
I'm not sure what code to show here.. but below are the links I've established to the .js files. With the paths, since the index.html is doing all the calling, I wouldn't have to deal with any '../../*.js' type of paths in order to jump up file levels (this also proven since the images in the gallery are done without '../../' paths).NOTE: ALL of these scripts already work if implemented directly into the index.html. This fails when executed from an external html file
<script src="webpage/scripts/js/jquery-1.2.6.js" type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"></script>
<script src="webpage/scripts/js/jquery-ui-full-1.5.2.min.js" type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="webpage/scripts/js/sliderGallerySetup.js"></script>

First the code:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">

When I use mouse wheel in Firefox to scroll contents of the DIV, memory usage in Firefox goes through the roof. Code above is a fully working page, if anyone would like to see what's up, just load it up, and start moving your mouse wheel in the area with text. You don't actually have to scroll the text, just moving the wheel back and forth in that DIV will do. Memory usage will start going up quite fast, and after you stop moving the wheel, it will finally come down a bit after a short while. I've highlighted in red the line where mousewheel event is registered for Firefox. I'm not sure if it's really a problem, but since Opera and IE don't have any strange memory usage, and Firefox does, maybe I did something wrong. In everyday use it shouldn't matter [don't expect to have kilometers of content to scroll], but anyway, it is a bit unsettling.

My javascript canvas width and height are both 960. I have found that my screen horizontal and vertical resolutions are both 96 dpi. Thus, when a drawing is rendered in the full width and height of the canvas, it should be measurable by a ruler to be physically 10 inches by 10 inches. I did measure the display on the screen and found it to be actually about 11 and 3/16 inches wide. What is the proper way to scale a canvas so that the resulting physical dimensions can be calculated more precisely?

I've been noticing a lot of problems when loading these stuff, Sometimes I have to remake the HTML Tags because its not showing anything. Is there any option? I want it to load EXACTLY how it is, I don't know if this is some kind of protection for bad code, but if it is I would like to disable. But also, this code is really clean. no problem, I don't know.

I'm writing a script and I've encountered a problem.. I have a txt file with many words, each word in a different line. For example: the file words.txt contains:
word1
word2
word3
word4
word5
I need to load the content of the file into a variable in my script. I prefer that all the words will be in the same variable with line breaks, but if you'll figure out a way to put it in an array, it's ok too. I really don't know how to do it, and I tried to google but didn't understand.. By the way, I don't want to change the txt file to js file, I need it to remain txt..

I am looking for a way to select a file from a list and load it into a webpage. The page and the files are stored on a sd-card for off-line usage, I know that listing files remote dynamicly needs a scripting engine but since the sd-card is on the client side that is not possible, but I can make a list of those files when creating them.
It is intended for a datalogger on a tractor-puller, I create csv files with a bash script on the logger and for off-line viewing I use a javascript charting engine which loads the csv file, the files have the creation date as filename and I can make (and maintain) a list of files when creating them. The plan is that the we can select another data set (run) from within the browser and show that one. I have setup an example at [URL]

Is there a way to load more than one html fragment using .load()? That is, I want my homepage to pull in multiple pages of content into the main page so that I can create a one-page site that slides vertically.
An example of what I've got is
$(document).ready(function(){
$('#footer').load('about.html #content');
$('#footer').load('locations.html #content');
$('#footer').load('contact.html #content');
});
Which of course only loads the first about.html page's #content into the #footer of the home page.

I got an [object error] from IE 7.0.5730.11 when moving the <script
src="..." type="text/javascript" /tag from the <headpart to the
<bodysection of a HTML file.
Is not possibile to include Javascript code via <script src="..."
type="text/javascript" /from the <bodysection, instead from the
<headone? If yes, anyone has any idea of which the problem could be?
If not, how can I programmatically include a javascript external file
inside the <bodypart of a HTML file, for example, using Javascript
to some particular native functions?
