Opening a new window using the window.open( ) command works great
for opening new windows and having them on top and having the focus.
The window.focus command brings any existing windows to the front
(top) in Netscape, IE and Opera. However, this command does nothing
when you access the web page through AOL, even though they say this is
IE. Once a window is behind (blurred), I have been unable to bring it
back to the front without 1. closing it, and 2. re-opening it, which
stinks.

every time I try and alert:
[ { number:0, secondnumber:0 }, { number:2, secondnumber:1 }, { number:1, secondnumber:2 } ]
it just shows [object object], [object object], [object object]. Why is this and what can I do to make the record be shown as it is above in an alert?

Is there any way at all to create a new template object that inherits from the built in Date object so as to be able to add new methods to that child object without adding them to the built in Date object? I've tried everything I can think of and as far as I can tell it keeps referencing the Date function instead of the Date object and so doesn't work.

i'm an actionscript3 developer who is somewhat new to js/jquery and am struggling through creating a site using jquery.I would like to be able to use the show/hide/toggle methods to switch between content using a standard navigation list. basically, what I want to do is this:1. store list of 10 <divs> in array with the id set to w1_blog, w2_blog, etc2. list of 10 links with ids = w1_blog_a, w2_blog_a, etc.3. store references to divs and links in array/s4. add event listener to each link5. .click event calls function that loops through each blog entry and shows the one matching the link (w1, w2, etc) and hides all others.I could do this in 2 mins in as3 but I'm struggling with the js syntax, despite it being very close to as3. It should (I think) look something like this:
$(document).ready(function(){
var blogArr = new Array();
var blogLinkArr = new Array();
[code]....

I'm trying to send my array object through ajax using the jQuery .get method, but when it sends, ids show up as multiple parameters and I'm not sure if that's the way to do it.
Here is my code:
var val = [];
$(':checkbox:checked').each(function(i){
val[i] = $(this).attr('id').substring(6);
});
$.get("/assets/ajax/pm_change_status.php", { s: sess_id(), 'ids[]': val } );

I'm a little puzzled over the possibility of accessing an array. I've declared the previd id - in the proxy.invoke call which works just fine (we have already implemented an .each loop which also works. My problem is this - after accessing the proxy.invoke function, the previd is populated correctly with push but after the call, we cannot seem to access the previd array to make a join to a string. Here's the basics of the code.
var previd = [];
proxy.invoke("validdateIDCard", p_caregiverid,
function(validaterID) {
var valcard = validateID;
previd.push(valcard);
}, onPageError);
var finalvalue = previd.join("|"); <-- this is where the problem lies - cannot seem to read the variable...

I have a select with a OnChange Function. I would like to know how to create a different object depending on the selection on the Select.
Example:
MySelect have Option 1 and Option 2, so
If (Myselect.value == Option 1)
{Create Object 1}
If (Myselect.value == Option 2)
{Create Object 2}
I'm using the object under <body> and it's working, but when I'm trying to use it under a <script> does not work.
This is the object I'm trying to create: (It is a map) so what I'm trying is to change the values or map depending on the selection of the Select.
<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,0,0" width="900" height="600" id="zoom_map" align="top">
<param name="movie" value="us_albers.swf?data_file=senate.xml" />
<param name="quality" value="high" />

I know I can use the functions like parseFromString() to access and modify an existing XML documents, but is it possible to use JavaScript to create a blank xml document?
I want to take data entered into the client, package it up as XML and use ajax to transmit it to the server. So far I've written my own class to create a simple xml document, but I'd like to do it properly with the inbuilt functions.

}
I cannot console.log(window.123), only console.log(window.integer) ...
how I create the object window.123 or perhaps, window.id_123 ?

I've been wondering lately: is it possible to create an array of some html tags (let's say array of <div> or array of <p>)? Something which would allow me adding a new <div> or <p> to the array.
I am to make a small html webpage in which there are supposed to be 2 text areas: in the first are certain words (for example tomorrow, money etc.), and in the second one there is an input text (let's say "Tomorrow you must send me the money I need"). Javascript should do this: print the input text in a paragraph/div, highlighting the words mentioned above. Something like: Tomorrow you must send me the money I need. This is how I thought of the array of tags, which can at any time add a new word to the output paragraph, it's only to be chosen whether to highlight it or not.

I'm trying to create a multidimensional array (and it's my first time using one) as an easy-to-modify way of populating content into a cycling banner script. However I seem to be having issues with actually accessing the content in the array.So currently my array looks like so:
Code:
<script type="text/javascript">
var banner = new Array();
//Option 1
[code]...
But when I do a "document.write(banner[0]['title']);" in my body, it doesn't seem to want to oblige.
