Hidden And Visible - Setup The Script To Have The Second Tab Automatically Hidden Prior To Reading The Code
Jan 9, 2010I am trying to get a simple set of Javascript tabs to work properly. I have just two tabs and I want to set up the script to have the second tab automatically hidden prior to reading the javascript code because right now it shows the contents of both tabs when the page is loading and then the second tab disappears after all the script has loaded.
I have the jquery script linked to on the page and here is the way my script looks to run the tabs:

I want to add something like style="visibility:hidden;" to the DIV that isn't shown on page load and have it added and removed as necessary when users click on the tabs. So basically I would like the generated code to look like this:

How Would I Discover The Text In A Block Element Hidden By Overflow:hidden Style Being Set?

to figure out, first, whether or not the text inside the div tag is
partially hidden by the overflow setting, and if so, what the hidden
text is.
Is this even possible? Obviously, the rendering engine in the browser
"knows" this information, but is it accessible through Javascript?

This first issue I had to solve was using jQuery in an ASPP.Net app with Master Content pages - that issue is resolved. The main issue is that I have a content page that has many divs on it - 3 of which are hidden when the page first loads and are then each displayed based on various user interaction wth the page. One of the divs is displayed by server side code for many reasons dvDetail.style("displaya') = "block". My issue is that I need to use jQuery on an element that is located inside this div and can't seem to get that to work. The jQuery works just fine on anything that is not inside the hidden div. Items to note: Hiding and displaying the hidden divs works just fine. I am not using the visible property on any div - I use the display = "block" and 'none' in both the client side code and the server side code. jQuery working just fine on the page - just not on elements inside the hidden div. jQuery selectors working just fine in the content page scenario just not in the hidden div.

JQuery :: Get Height From Hidden Element?
Jul 16, 2009when I try to get the height or any other graphic property of an element which is hidden (in my case, hidden in one jQuery UI tab), I can't manage to get the height of the element. If I do: $("#my_element").outerHeight() I get zero. Whereas If I do the same when the element is visible, I get its height. I work with jQuery 1.3.2 and FF 3.5.

Also there is clickable text to change the text in the divs from english to spanish and vice versa. The click for the top divs work just fine. The issue presents its self when the english or spanish text is clicked the bottom div does not take the new information or the text int the bottom div does not change. Aug 4, 2010I am using the toggle function to hide and show a div. Is there any way I can get the div to be hidden on the page load, and then when when toggle is called, it will show it (since it would be currently hidden).
The way I toggle works for me so far, the div is visible as default, and then once the toggle is activated, it is hidden. I want it to be the opposite.

Mar 31, 2010I'm using the treeview plugin [URL]. On some pages, the treeview is setup in a tab that isn't currently active. When there are some pre-opened nodes (by specifying the class "open") the nodes open, but the +/- hitarea is set to the wrong class (it's set to expandable instead of collapsible). The reason for it is the following piece of code in "applyClasses" in the pluggin. Because it's in a tab that's currently hidden, :hidden is always true, regardless of the child nodes actually being visible (but hidden).

Oct 10, 2011I've implemented tablesorter in my page using links to do the sorting rather than table headers. The reason being that the visible columns have the data in such a way that sorting on them is non-intuitive (the first column has both a job title and department title, so how to specify to sort on one or the other? I created hidden columns one for each data element and hid them).This works beautifully in Firefox and webkit browsers, but IE 7 and 8 are returning the following error when trying to sort on a hidden column that isn't the last column in the table. If I display a column, the sorting works fine on it, but hidden and not last, it errors. Changing the order of the hidden columns doesn't change the behavior, last column works and the other three error.Line: 552Error: 'undefined' is null or not an object.the line is referring to jquery.tablesorter.js here:

Nov 7, 2011I've made a little short jQuery code where I hide a div, which should be displayed upon hover over another div. The problem is that since it's a class, it happens for all other hidden divs. I guess I should use "this" somewhere? So it only affect the div I'm currently hovering, but I'm not sure. Maybe it's harder than that? This is the simple JavaScript:

I am stuck using the following code to change the value of a form's hidden field with the value of a clicked link. It works for the first two clicks then no matter what other link is clicked the form's hidden field value is changed to the value of the first or second clicked link?
Is there a more robust, reliable way of achieving my aim?
