Hi, I have this JavaScript, which I only want to occur if a user clicks on a
hyperlink hotspot in a large image:
<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
var answer = confirm ("This link is not available, click OK to load a
similar link, or Cancel to not.")
if (!answer)
window.location="http://www.yahoo.com/"
// -->
</script>
To make matters more challenging, there are about 10 hotspots in the image,
and I want them each to have a different value for window.location. I.e. if
the user clicks OK in each hotspot, each one will redirect them to a
different site.

i have a search icon at the top of my page, when i click this it toggles show/hide on the search form. now when the user loses focus of the search form (.blur), i want it to activate the hide part of the toggle.
when the search icon is clicked, it gives focus to the search form, so the moment the icon is clicked, the search form gains focus, then when someone clicks somewhere else on the page and the form loses focus, i want the search form to hide.
the problem is, if i just have the search form hide on .blur, then when you click the search icon and then click somewhere else and the search form loses focus, and then you click the icon to show the search form again, it will hide the search form(to the user, it looks like it didn't do anything, since the search form is already hidden). so after 2 clicks on the icon, then, it finally shows the search form again.

i have a FAQ Question h2 acting as a trigger to slide out a hidden div below it, the FAQ answer, and clicking it toggles the h2 class so the bg img changes.toggle_container is the hidden div, h2 is the trigger..
code below:
$(document).ready(function(){
$(".toggle_container").hide(); // Hides the container onLoad
$("h2.trigger").click(function(){
[code]....
now i have a rating plugin that sits in the h2 tag. when i click the rating star, it behaves as intended, but also then somehow calls the above code and expands the FAQ answer.

I'm using jQuery $.ajax or $.getJSON on document.ready to access data from the server through coldfusion remote cfc files.
My url looks something like this for the main page [url]
When i go to a new page i.e. [url]
The ajax functions are called but are not collecting new data (only in IE). IE caches the response and wont give me a new one unless I refresh the page, which I don't want to do.
Here's an example of a function I call. I've also tried $.getJSON with no success.
function getGrains() {
I've looked into ways to make sure IE wont cache files. Some of the popular suggestions are:
Add a random parameter to the url: I've done this:
Change get requests to posts: Done (see function)
Also, jQuery's cache:false doesn't work.
I'm not sure I can use the meta tags or header cache-control functions because it's not caching my html page, it just caches these HTTPRequests from within my javascript file, and they're not loading html, just json objects.

OK so I've been searching for a week now for an example of pagination of data using jquery, ColdFusion and SQL server. I'm finding tons of examples using PHP and MySQL. Have any of you successfully got pagination working with Fusion and SQL Server? I am trying to run a report that could end up having thousands of results that I would like to paginate using jquery. Most of the pagination plugins though rely on you returning ALL of the results to the client first whether in JSON, XML or just straight to the browser as a table and then it paginates them. So if there are thousands of results this is not optimal. I'd like to try and get something working where as it paginates it goes to the database using Fusion and just grabs the next X records to display.

I have a parent/child scenario where the child is a pop-up "control panel" with hyperlinks that control the parent page. The idea is to click a link and it changes the parent to whatever URL ...BUT... the kicker here is that the parent page is in PHP and is receiving a value from the javascript function.I have everything working EXCEPT that I can't get the value from the hyperlink that i need to pass to the PHP.Everything I fund about getting values in JS involves a "getElementby ID" type of command, but that isn't going to work here because there are several hyperlinks. I'm also trying to avoid using an array and looping through it.I know this must be a simple problem for veteran Javascripters!HTML FROM CHILD (I made the ID and Value both "2" just for testing purposes):
<a href="#" class="leftlinks" onclick="updateParent(control)" id="2" value="2">CLICK HERE</a>
JAVASCRIPT ACCEPTING THE VALUE:
function updateParent(control) {

This will work perfectly, but as soon as I need to pass Strings inside the selectShape function, I get stuck.
So the question is, how can I create the following and have it working

As you can see the script works when you click the Sticky Note button. How can I convert this script into ONLOAD working without clicking the button.

I have a web based application for my company. We use Coldfusion, I
wanted to see if I could use Javascript to make the page a bit more
dynamic.
Right now I use the command:
<cfhttp URL="http://server:port" method="get" Timeout="20" charset="UTF-8">
<cfhttpparam name="var" type="CGI" value="command I send">
this connects to an application on another server listening on the
provided port for a request. When it sees the command a parser
reads the command and formats an XML file that is returned to the web
page. I can parse the XML and use it to fill out the page.
I've read about using "ActiveXObject(Microsoft.XMLHTTP)" and
onreadystatechange to dynamically update a web page.
I would like to send the Coldfusion command, or it's Javascript equivalent
to update the page. Say if you need to change an address,
you could submit the change and just the address would be updated on the
page, so it isn't necessary for the remote server to return the entire
account information again.

Basically, anytime someone presses the close class from one of tabs, using AJAX it eliminates it from their page. However, since their are multiple close classes on the page, its calling the AJAX a number of times if they have multiple tabs.
