Why set var $ j = jQuery.noConflict (); is invalid?
I have put many jquery plungin in my page, so I try $$ and jQuery to instead of $, but they still did not work.

I have a problem where I have to use jQuery.noconflict(), but I have no idea how to use it properly.I'm working with some richfaces elements which uses the richfaces jQuery version and the countdown plugin from keith-wood.name/countdown.html which need another jQuery plugin.If I include the files for the coundown, the countdown works but the modalPanels didn't and vice versa.

I integrated JQuery UI, and I have the JQuery tabs working. Since Joomla uses mootols, I had to include thejQuery.noConflict(); And the tabs script " $ " is replaced by JQuery.
However, when I add the Cycle widget, and I replace the $ sign for JQuery, the widget does not work. If I use the $ sign, the widget works. I want to keep my code tidy. Can somebodyenlightenme on this situation?
I'm having trouble using jquery with Rails. I know there are a few plug-in solutions but I am more designer than developer and the rest of my team isn't excited about changing to a new plug-in midstream.I want to be able to write my jquery and be able to have the least impact on existing code. This means that I have to use the noconflict method. Originally I was trying to use Rails to write all my jQuery into one document ready statement but I recently found out you can have more than oneNow my problem is that my jQuery variable isn't always ready byt the time my document ready function runs. I've never been here before and probably shouldn't be let loose with this level of codey stuff but here goes. On my site at [URL].. I'm having problems with getting the Page title to show: It sort of flashes up but is quickly replaced by the browser name. I've discovered that if I remove the few lines containing the NoConflict commands (below) <script type='text/javascript'> var $jq = jQuery.noConflict(); </script> ...then the Page Title is fine. But: Of course I lose my second JQuery effect (in this case it's the tooltip). Frustrating. This seems to be a conflict with the NoConflict... right?

I'm trying to get a lightbox working on my website alongside a jQuery tooltip, however when the tooltip is running the lightbox no long works and just links to a new page of one image. If I remove the attached tool.js (the file that controls the tool tip) the lightbox works again but the tool tip obviously doesn't.
I presume this is a jQuery conflict and have been looking up how to resolve it, finding a variety of different solutions, but no proper explanation how to implement them.

Is there a way to check the page for invalid usage (e.g. text boxes using .text which doesnt exist)? I originally thought I could use the .data("events") but then realize that .text and .val isn't an event which is pretty obvious but I'm stuck now. I already know my selector is $('input[type="text"]') but is there any way to see if anywhere on the page is improperly calling .text()?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just upgraded one of our development sites to 1.3.2 and ui 1.7. I have also updated all of the plugins (forms,validate,thickbox,calculation,blockUI,autogrow) to the latest versions which should all be compatible with 1.3.2 and the site is working perfectly in Firefox 3 on OS X and XP. However on IE8rc1 and in IE7 compat mode I am getting an Invalid Argument error reported at line 12 of jquery-1.3.2.min.js. That is the usual really helpful IE error message and I have been unable to track down the source of the problem. I have noticed that some people have seen this problem with the ui.accordion and 1.7 was supposed to have fixed the issue. Does anyone know of a fix (apart from banning the use of IE - if only)? If I could get the error in FF I could at least use Firebug to debug it. I think I might need to comment out each plugin and see if I can trace the source of the error.

I've run into a very perplexing problem, and it's probably mostly due to my lack of knowledge of what I'm really trying to do. I've created a C# PageMethod that accepts three parameters (string name, string xmlData, int CubeID). In my javascript, I've created a function to call the pagemethod passing in those values. However, when trying to pass in the XML I continually get odd errors like "Invalid object passed in" followed by my entire xml structure with escape sequences in it.

I've been building up my validation using the jquery validation plugin but I can't work out how to get a failed validation to default the focus to the first invalid input rather than to the last selected input. If there is no input field selected, when I submit then a failed validation will focus the cursor on the first field but if the cursor was left in a field and submitted then the focus stays there (if it's invalid) rather than jump to the first invalid input. From what I've read and seen, this is the expected behaviour but not what I want. Is there a way I can get the first invalid field and set the focus to that?

I'm running validation on a form that has two components, a payments segment and an address segment. Both of these need to be within the same form. By default, the address segment is hidden. Upon validation, I would like to display the payment segment, but only if there are validation errors within that segment. Using invalidHandler, I've been able to successfully fire a function when errors are returned, but I haven't found a way to check if there are errors within that container. My plan was to check for the invalid class within that container... something like this:

The problem is that the invalid class (.client_validation) isn't applied when the invalidHandler function is executed.
I'm using the datepicker.ui in a form that also uses the validate plugin. The form happens to use the accordion functionality found here, but I've also tested this in a simpler form that uses the standard syntax for both scripts.
When the user initially picks a date using the datepicker, validate runs and flags the input as invalid, even 'though the field isvalid. choosing another date, or choosing the date a second time, sets the field to valid.

It works fine on the opening tab, but if i bury the chart in any tab, it breaks and throws the js error "Invalid dimensions for plot..."I looked around and the problem might be that because the second tab is hidden at page load, it is breaking something... I dug up a possible jquery fix/plugin called frameReady, which allows for you to load iframes, but I am not sure how to apply it.
