i am creating a simple form validation script where i will ask for the username, password and email of a user. when an error is created, a text will be displayed beside the textbox. but i want to know how i can add colors to the textbox if there is an error.

The following form validation script works, currently if one of the five fields are completed, a message appears the remaining field(s) must be completed etc. Although the information the user has inputted in the first field is cleared. How can this information be available, if there is one problem in the form it doesn't make sense that the user must re-input all the information again. I look forward to hearing your response,

As you can see I am simply creating a place holder for the input field, so that it says "Search" inside of it until someone clicks it. Unfortunately I have very little experience not inlining my Javascript.

I'm a little curious with regards to alerting a user to invalid data in a form field through inline alerts, rather than alert boxes and without a page load.In otherwords, if someone types in invalid data into a form field, before they hit the submit button, I'd like to use javascript the insert some red text on the side saying "this is invalid".I'm concerned that people with visual disabilities wont notice it due to their screen readers.I.e. if the screen doesn't re-load, will the screen read read the nexly inserted text or will it not do anything until a new page loads?

If anything else is found, the script should clear the field, display an alert and then return the cursor to that form field. Everything works perfect except that the cursor will not return to the "pricenum" field after the alert popup is closed.

1. read the window URL
2. depending on the window URL, a word will be placed into a hidden form field.
3. Person submits form...etc., etc.
Here is what I have.
Let's say that I have a single landing page with a simple form on it. I would like to reference the referred URL by pulling a part of the window URL into a hidden field of the form. Let's say the three URLs are:

I have created a javascript that takes the exact URL and check for equality. If the URL is equal, it will place the corresponding id into the hidden form field. See my code below.

What I am looking to do is modify the code to only look at the "id" variable, not the entire URL. That way, if I add any additional items to the URL I will not have to change the code. I guess I am looking for an extra step of parsing the URL...maybe.

what i want to do is have a selection from 'tst' trigger an input into 'choose' from the data inputted into the 'fname' and 'lname' fields.
for example, i want option '1', when selected to draw the input from 'fname' and place it into 'choose'
or i might want to select the data in 'lname' instead, so i will tie option 2 to it, so when the user selects option 2 the contents of 'lname' go into 'choose' instead.

(It's one of those forms with an intial value in the text field which is currently got a style attached to it. If they fail validation, by not having anything in the text field, I would like the initial value to turn red from a style in the style sheet.

I've have a function to take the value entered in a form text box, add 50 to it and put the result in another text box.
When I enter 650.5 I get 700.5 exactly how I'd expect. But when I enter -650.5 instead of getting -600.5 I get -650.050 as though it is failing to parse the float due to it being negative. My understanding of parseFloat was that it recognises negative numbers. Is there a nice simple way to get this to work?
I am using superfish menu on the site below. http:[url]...when I go through the sub menus. parent menu item's "a color" turns into white again but not background color. then nothing is seen. I want it to stay as first hover condition (white bg and black text) when I walking through sub menus. I cannot override it.

I would use perhaps a different function name in the HTML to call different sets of colors. I've been building up my validation using the jquery validation plugin but I can't work out how to get a failed validation to default the focus to the first invalid input rather than to the last selected input. If there is no input field selected, when I submit then a failed validation will focus the cursor on the first field but if the cursor was left in a field and submitted then the focus stays there (if it's invalid) rather than jump to the first invalid input. From what I've read and seen, this is the expected behaviour but not what I want. Is there a way I can get the first invalid field and set the focus to that?

ABOVE this form I have a table with TWO ROWS (ROW1 and ROW2). ROW1 should correspond with TEXTFIELD1, so that when the VALUE in TEXTFEILD1 is changed the background color of ROW1 will change to match the HEX,DEC VALUE entered in TEXTFIELD1. The same would happen with TEXTFIELD2 and ROW2. TEXTFIELD3 should be used to change the color of the TEXT inside ROW1 and TEXTFIELD4 should change the color of the TEXT in ROW2. I also wanted to know if it would be possible to achieve this without clicking any button.
