JQuery :: Multiple Files Not Work Properly

Mar 15, 2011

I was on HTMLDrive.net looking for some cool effects for my site, and when I tried to put two of them in a page together it would not work properly. I can get only one to work at a time. It seems that they somehow interfere with each other, but I don't know how. Now have a little experience with JavaScript and jquery, but nothing I tried would work. Here is what I have in my page header right now:

[Code]...

The first one is an accordion navigation panel and it comes with a JavaScript file to link to in the header. Other than that there is no more JavaScript involved with it. Here is the link to it: Accordion Navigation The other one is a image slide show that uses jquery. it has the jquery script, a script file of it own, and some JavaScript right in the page header. Here is the link to this one:

JQuery :: Getting Some Functions To Work Properly?

Jul 27, 2011

I'm pretty new to jquery and I've been working on a little project to see what I can do. The issue is when I first visit the page and click the first link that appears in the main section it displays the popup box as wanted. Now when I click another day, for instance sunday and try to click the first link it doesn't do anything. And if I click back to Saturday the first link also doesn't do anything.

It seems something is not properly activating or maybe a command is overwriting and not allowing it to work like it does when you first hit the landing page.

JQuery :: IE Does Not Properly Handle Multiple Ajax Requests

May 11, 2011

I have a page that relies on AJAX for content manipulation. Once a person selects a radio button, a request is made through $.getJSON() to get the replacement content. This works in all browsers. Once the new content is loaded, there are 3 more calls to $.getJSON() to change more content (on other tabs in jQuery UI). This works in all browsers except for IE.

I understand this is a Microsoft problem, and not a jQuery problem, but I am wondering if there is a way to manipulate the jQuery calls to get them to work in IE. I did try replacing $.getJSON with $.ajax, and even set async to false. None of those three methods worked in IE. I noticed the problem when my loading div was still displayed in IE. Using Firebug Lite, I saw that only one request was made, rather than four.

JQuery :: Event Animation Callback Doesn't Work Properly ?

Dec 9, 2010

This is my code:

I've set the animation to large numbers (1000) to make it very obvious.

The helper will show before the other fieldSets have been hidden. The show animation begins about half way through the hide animation. Since both elements are occupying the same space, this makes the container jump around in size as it breifly expands to fit one under the other.

JQuery :: Multiple .js Files Not Running?

Aug 8, 2009

Im building a simple portfolio site for myself and I am trying to use the .hide() and .show() methods to hide and show the various sections and subsections. I have one file panels.js which is working fine on its own to hide and show the main sections. But a second file gallery.js, which is supposed to control the subsections, never gets read. I can see the contents of the file in firebug, but nothing inside gets executed. If I take the contents of gallery.js and try to place them into the panels.js file. the whole thing stops working. So Im assuming its something off with the scripts in gallery.js. Heres the site so far: [URL]

At this point I am only working on the "ARTWORK" section, so that is the only section that should be working, please don't bother clicking on the other sections. What should be happening is that all the entries that say "Image Title" with some lorem ipsum should all be hidden at first, and only the first sentence at the top should show, but at this point all of it just stacks up and none of it is hidden. heres the contents of gallery.js

//hide all the subsections and show the intro
$(".current_panel .image_area").removeClass("current_area");
$(".current_panel .image_area").hide();

Jquery :: Grouping Multiple JS Files Into One

Oct 17, 2009

As I use some external js library and code (swfobject, jquery, fancyzoom, ...) and that, having alot of file requested can slow down a site, I want to know if it is a good idea to merge all those js file into a big one, so it is loaded 1 time, then is in cache. I think it can be good for server request but, is there any bug possibilities to do this?

JQuery :: Loading The Multiple Files?

Nov 17, 2011

The application I'm debugging is throwing a very general jquery error (H is undefined) based on my obfuscated js file. There are jquery methods in this file. The file has been tested and is used successfully in other applications. I noticed the application that throws the error is loading two versions of jquery:

jquery-1.4.2.js and jquery-obf-1.4.2.cache.js

Typically our applications only load the obfuscated version of jquery. if loading 2 versions of JQuery into a page could cause the confliction I'm seeing?

Loading Multiple Functions Across Multiple Files?

Apr 1, 2010

I am familiar with the user built addEvent function used to load multiple functions in the window.onload property. However, I am curious as to the best way to do this across multiple JavaScript files. I thought I had seen somewhere code similar to the addEvent function was native to JavaScript now but I can't seem to find that anywhere.

Just to clarify, suppose I have 3 JavaScript files:

Code:
function foo() {
// do something here
}
fileB

[Code]....

note that it is not feasible to combine those functions into one file as they aren't always loaded together. What's the best way to load them all as a window.load?

Porting - App - Doesn't Work Properly On Mozilla Browsers

Nov 22, 2010

First, We 've a course registeration Web app that was developed in .NET/javascript.

In brief, the students login, then the available courses is drawn to him (as DIVs) to select courses then apply registeration.

Of course , the dynamic part of selecting/highliting courses is done in javascript as a clientside Javascript.

The problem that this app was developed with no x-browser compatibility in mind (e.g firefox and chrome). it works fine on IE , ofcourse doesn't work properly on Mozilla browsers.

Now, i want to modify it to be mozilla compatible , i spent time inspecting it (functions and classes, "yes the developer made a javascript classes") .

Is there a tool or something that porting to mozilla ?

Rounded Corner On Rollover - It Doesn't Work Properly In IE?

Feb 4, 2011

I am developing a site that requires the navigation menu to have one rounded corner at the end on the home button. The default button state is created using a background image but I need it to also have a rollover effect on hover and also on focus (for the home page item only). I have tried to use CSS and curvy corners Javascript code to create the effect as I don't want to use images. However, I don't think the curvy corners script is picking up the div item that I want to apply the corner to.

The trouble is I have a number of div boxes on the site that also have rounded corners (3 rounded and 1 square). The CSS is working fine for these in all browsers apart from Opera but when it comes to the navigation it doesn't work properly in IE. Here's the HTML for the menu:

Code:

<div id="menu">
<ul>
<li><a href="index.htm" class="home">Home</a></li><li><a href="#">Mortgages</a></li><li><a href="#">Life Assurance</a></li><li><a [code].....

The CSS is in an external stylesheet, although I have also added the CSS for the rounded corner items to the header code.The class 'homefocus' seems to work when applied to the a tag on the home page but the other class 'home' which should work on hover won't work in IE.

OnClick Works Properly But Following If Statement Doesn't Work?

Sep 1, 2011

I have a simple problem that I can't solve. I am trying to code a "More Info" button/link to display some more technical details of an item, if required or wanted. I haven't tried incorporating any code in to my web site yet, first I am trying to test how it can be done in a seperate file.

What I have right now is a table with two cells. In one cell is static text, in the other is a hyperlink. The onClick event calls a JS function called "more_info()" in which a global varible is altered to contain the value 1.

Directly after these two cells is more JS (this is before the table ends). The JS here is checking to see whether the value of the global variable has been changed. If the value is 1, display information. There is no "else" clause because I don't want information displayed unless the variable is equal to 1, so it is not required.

I think I know what the problem might be. The browser is reading the code in question before I ever click the link and has already been executed before the variable is changed. I know JS is object oriented so it will not sit there waiting for me to click the button before reading the logical statements.

Dynamically Adding Form Elements Does Not Work Properly In Firefox?

Mar 10, 2010

Im using a JavaScript function to dynamically add rows of user-input data to a form, but Im having problems getting it to work properly with Firefox (works well in IE, though). We are using Struts 1.3 and JSPs, if that makes a difference.

The JavaScript function seems to work initially because the newly added row will show up on the JSP after the user enters their data and clicks a button that uses an onclick event to call the function. However, when I submit the form the new elements dont get included in the request. The result is that when I use the following code in my Struts Action Class to get all the parameter names submitted in the request, I dont receive the new form elements that were added by the JavaScript function and I cant process those newly added records:

Enumeration e = request.getParameterNames();

Here is the JavaScript code for the function that I call to dynamically add rows of data to the form.

function addData(tableId, distBedsCode, empCode, fte) {
var tbl = document.getElementById(tableId);
//grab how many rows are in the table
var lastRow = tbl.rows.length;

[Code].....

Ive tried using hiddenElem.setAttribute(name,) at the end of the above code, instead of something like hiddenElem.name = , but that didnt work. There is just some difference between the way Firefox handles things and the way IE handles them

100per Cent Copy And Paste That Was Doing For Some Of His Example Few Of Them Did Not Still Work Properly On Own IE Browser;codes?

Oct 4, 2011

In my quest towards becoming a guru in Web Development led me to start learning Scripting few weeks ago and i started with Javascript there is this video tutorial that i have on my drive which was putting me through, the going was good but i got stuck when some of the examples demonstrated in there did not perform the way it was performing on the Instructor's system, yeah he said it in the tutorials that some of the Jscript codes may not function well in some browsers especially the older browser,he uses Firefox and Internet Explorer on his system while i use IE and Google Chrome on mine.

Well the Tutorial is actually old(i think it's 2006), but cos i use IE9 and 5.0Chrome browsers which i believe are newer i expect the codes to run on them. There are some of his examples that did not work on Firefox browser but at least they work on the 4.5IE he was using but to my surprise, despite the 100per cent copy and paste that i was doing for some of his example few of them did not still work properly on my own IE browser;codes like that one that aids text scrolling, onunload method and other few ones.So "Web whizes" help me out on what i need to do to give my scripting experience a jolly ride into becoming a wizard in my Web Development.

How To Compile Multiple Files

Aug 24, 2011

I would like to use a compiler to minifier my JS code. The JS code is separated over multiple files. For example, I have a language file (lang object), init.js files, common function files, ... here and there I even use global variables. I would like to use a compiler which also renames variable names to reduce JS file size. However, when the variables are separated over multiple JS files, and you compile each JS file one by one, the same short variable names will be attached given errors in the whole application.
