May 10, 2011
I m going to use jquery treeview at...
I need to block node collapsing on Click, instead bind them with custom functions.
I tried to locate possible tweak point via click events, but still couldn't manage to do the needful.

I have the Treeview Async working. It does a JSON call each time a LI is opened and gets the sub UL list. Everything works great. However, I want to fire the load event for specific LI so I can load the tree and get & open only certain sub UL lists. How can I fire the load event for just certain LI when using the async treeview?

I recently started on a tree-folder display and used the Yahoo treeview control. Again it works very well and I am happy with the results. However, after seeing the treeview folder structure, my client asked if it would possible to add a right mouse click context menu to allow users to modify the folder tree -- add new folders, upload files, rename folders, delete folders, etc.
Updating the tree with the new elements is simple enough, but my attempts to implement the context menu have failed miserably. I have studied the Yahoo documentation and I can identify the name of nodes and the label of the element clicked on. But I can't figure out how to add the right-click code to the nodes the YUI Treeview generates.
I have successfully used various right-click Javascript scripts in the past -- but in those cases I was adding the function to an actual HTML element. The YUI elements are generated by the script, and I am at a loss as how to add the code to the generated node elements.
The application is part of a corporate intranet, and will only be used with Internet Explorer 6.0+ on Windows. The new context menu would completely replace the standard Windows context menu.
I am tempted to hack the YUI Treeview script to see if I can add a right click function similar to the Expand, Collapse and Clicked node functions, but I suspect that there is probably a simpler and easier way to do it.

Go these two image buttons:
<input type="image" src="images/Update.png" name="btnSubmit" value="Update"/>
<input type="image" src="images/Cancel.png" value="Cancel" name="btnCancel" class="cancel" onclick="hide_edit_div()" />
Now, even clicking on the Cancel button runs the submithandler. How do I modify it to ignore it?

I have this function I'm firing to execute the "delete" of an entry
Code JavaScript:
$(document).ready(function() {
$(".post_tools a.deletelink").click(function() {
var container = $(this).parents('.comment').attr("id");
var scriptLoc = $(this).attr("href");
[Code]...
The function executes the alert and if the user selects "OK" it completes successfully. However, if the user chooses to back out of the process when the alert fires by closing the alert, the function does not get canceled, it completes the delete of the comment. What do I need to do to make sure the user can successfully cancel this process when the warring is delivered?

I Have a text box in a jsp that is pre populated. The text box should accept only numbers and it should be greater than a minimum value (this value depends on the user settings). If the user enters a value less than the minimum value, i should pop up an alert saying that the value
entered is incorrect and reset it back to previous correct value. How could i do it using onchange event of the text box.

I've been trying to do something and it's killing me because I can't figure out how to do it properly. I have an input box. I'm validating as the user types. Basically deleting forbidden characters as they type. I'm doing it with the onkeyup event. Problem is this looks kinda crappy because the character they type appears briefly and then get's deleted. I want to know how can I cancel the event that writes on the input box so that instead of deleting the character myself, I just cancel the event. I have no idea if the input box or the window is the one responsible for doing this.

I've got to write some javascript to listen for a select 'change' event. Unfortunately, the select box has an onchange event as well. For example:
<select name="test" onchange="document.form.submit();">
Here's my event listener:
function handle_submit() {
return false;}
function addListeners() {
if (document.addEventListener) { document.form.test.addEventListener('change',handle_submit,false);
}}
window.onload = addListeners;
Now, the event listener does capture the event, but I want to cancel the onchange event within the select box. Is that possible?

building a tree using UL,LI tags as below. Issue seems with cancelling event bubbling. trying to cancel dragenter event to avoid dragenter firing for root LI. dragenter on image cancels bubbling. But dragenter on the child text bubbles and fires for Root. Whole purpose is to identify LI where its dropped. Edit: Noticed this is working as expected in IE6 and not working with IE8.

I would like to create a plugin that I can put before a click event on a button. The click event should occur if the user's time on the page hasn't expired. The plugin should check the user's time, and then stop the click event if the time has expired. With the plugin, I'm essentially putting two click events on the same button, as I need to check the expiration when the button is clicked. The plugin is working on my test page, but I'm afraid that this is contingent on an arbitrary ordering of the click events by jQuery. If I have my click event chained after my plugin, can I be assured that the plugin would always stop the click event if the time is expired? Or could jQuery execute the click event before the time gets checked?
(function( $ ){
$.fn.checkExpiration = function(
$this = $(this);
return this.each(function(){3

Doing web page with ASP/VB.NET. Have text boxes for UI on page. Two command buttons - Submit (for db update) and Cancel. I need the Cancel button to prompt the user to verify cancellation. Need OK/Cancel buttons on alert. If user selects Cancel-no action. If user selects OK then I want the text boxes cleared of user text input and focus returned to first text box. I think this may be the code but do not know how to apply it.
function Clear()
{
var res=window.confirm("Please confirm cancellation-text boxes will be cleared"); [code].....
Is this code valid or invalid for the events I need? How do I set it to fire when user clicks the ASP Cancel button?

I have an object that has a click event I'm trying to trigger. However in the click event I have the following if statement:
if(event.button != 0){return true;}
This if statement allows right clicks to go through and activate but it also prevents me from triggering the event. Any ideas on how to prevent this? If I remove the if statement from the first click function everything works as intended.Here's my example code based off of the trigger event examples:

I create buttons from an array of objects that such as:
buttons = [{ text: "button 1", action: 1}, {text: "button 2", action: 2}];
I then loop thru the array to assign the text and bind the click event after having created the buttons with IDs of "button_<index>".
for( var index in buttons ) {
$("#button_"+index).html ( buttons[index].text )
.click( function() { clickButton( buttons[index].action ) } );
}
The text appears correctly in the button, but every button defined only fires the list bound click, in this example the action equal to'2'whether I push "Button 1" or "Button 2".My actual case has four buttons, all firing the event for the fourth button.I've tried not chaining the .click(), going thru the loop twice once for the .html and once for the .click, neither of which made a difference. If I hard code each button .click, it works fine.

I want to call the click event of the link (anchor tag) on the click of the button. I used this code below in the click event of button to call links click event and it works fine in IE.
document.getElementById('linktag').click();
But, this doesn't work in Firefox. I googled a bit and found that in firefox, you have to do something more to achieve this behaviour. So, I ended up doing this on button click to work in firefox:
var link=document.getElementById('linktag');
var e = document.createEvent('MouseEvents');
e.initEvent(
[code]....
The above code does the click on link when I click on the button. But my problem now is that I have defined a link as
<a href="mailto:abc@xyz.com?subject=abc&body=email body">email </a>
and when click is called and mailto links opens my email client, it somehow ignores the subject and body parameters of the link. It works properly when i actually click a link element. but it doesn't work when i simulate the click event by code written above. above dispatching event code somehow ignores the link parameters?

I have a situation on my website similar to this:
<ul id="menu1" class="menu">
<li>
<a href='javascript:myFunction(0)'>Hello</a>
</li>
</ul>
This makes a link that calls myFunction(0) when I click it. Now I want to add a popup whenever the user clicks the link (but I can't add it to myFunction for some reason), so I add an event listener to this <a> in the $(document).ready() function:
$('ul.menu li a').click(
function() {
alert("hi");
});
Now the the popup does appear, but it doesn't execute myFunction(0) anymore.
So finally my question: is there a way to pass my <a>'s href to this click-function and makes it execute? Or is there a better way?

I want to execute a function, when a user clicks on a certain button on my page. It works in Chrome, Safari, Opera and FF, but not in IE 9. The jquery-Code looks like this:
$('#mapButton').click(function(event){ ... });
My HTML source code:
<div id="medias">
<div>AUDIO<br /><p id="audioButton"></p></div>
<div>KARTE<br /><p id="mapButton"></p></div>
<div>BILDER<br /><p id="galleryButton"></p></div>
<br style="clear:both"/>
</div>
By Clicking on mapButton the function should follow. I tried it first with the input-Tag, then with the a-Tag and afterwards with the p-Tag. Nothing works at all. I also inserted a return false at the end of my JS function. How to handle it?
