Insert A Link Using ExecCommand That Prompts Users For A Title First?

Apr 7, 2009

I am having a problem with my wysiwyg editor for my site, users dont like the fact that you have to select text before you create a link and I was wondering if it was possible to prompt the user to add title text before you use the execCommand('createlink') and use that has the select text that they made from the prompt. Instead of the old way where you must select text first to use execCommand('createlink') to create a link. kind of like Sitepoint's insert link function but instead prompts the user for the title and doesn't insert bbcode but a anchor tag?

JQuery :: Insert Title Tag Into Hyperlinks Using Attribute?

Jun 24, 2011

I'm wanting to take all links pointing to external urls and insert a title tag with some text that I can then turn into a mouseover tooltip effect.The purpose is simple, we want to inform the visitor that by clicking on the link they would be taken away to another site. The warning message would be in the title tag.

Each external hyperlink already has an rel="external" tag so I can work off of that. This gives me:

$(document).ready(function() {
$('a[rel="external"])
});

As my element identifier. Now, in trying to insert this title tag, i've explored the append and appendTo but those refer to adding items to the end. I need the method that inserts this in between the <a></a> tags as it's own part of the hyperlink code. which method I should use to add something like this:

title="Clicking this link will take you away from this site"

I've even thought of possibly appending it as a hidden <span> item then revealing it on the mouseover.

One bit of additional info, i'm using Wordpress and want this to automatically deploy on all specified elements automatically.

The 'title' And 'link' Tags From The XML File Appear On Page?

Apr 27, 2009

Hi I'm new to the development world and have bumped into a tough problem for myself. I'm attempting to display external RSS feeds on my site using AJAX. The 'title' and 'link' tags from the XML file appear on my page without any problem. However, unlike the 'title' and 'link' tags, some of the 'description' tags contain HTML.[URl].. This seems to be an issue when I'm trying to display the content within the description tags.

Code:
function getXMLHTTPRequest() {
try {
req = new XMLHttpRequest(); /* e.g. Firefox */
} catch(e) {

[Code]...

As you can see, I embarrassingly tried enclosing the variable newtext2 in CDATA tags to no avail. Since I do not directly have access to this RSS file (other than asking my friend if I can edit it), is there a way for me to display the HTML content within the 'description' tags strictly via JavaScript?

Making The "title" Of A Link The Same As The Text Of The Link?

Aug 1, 2007

I am trying to get the title attribute of a link to be the same as the visible text of the link. That is, I want the little pop up that occurs when you hover your mouse over the link to read the same as what users would see in the menu.
The menu is written by Javascript, so there is no way to just put a title attribute on each link. Here is the code:

Insert <link> Into Html

Aug 3, 2010

I am trying to use the lalit.lab font detector in order to serve different style sheets based on what fonts the user has installed. My problem is that I don't know how to insert the <link rel="stylesheet" href="/stylesheets/css1.css"> into the HTML via javascript. The code I have is something like this (i know it's not actually javascript code):

Code:

<link rel="stylesheet" href="/stylesheets/css1.css"> // here it should write to the html la link to the css

Browse Files On Server + Insert Link Into Textarea

I'm trying to extent a simple news editor that my company uses. I'd like users to be able to browse the files on the server and insert a link to a given file in a textarea. I'd also like them to be able to assign a class to the link, for different file types (e.g. one for PDF, one for DOC etc), or no class at all. I've seen AJAX file browser scripts and WYSIWYG editors but none that combine these two features.

Change The Title Bar Of My Site Every X Seconds To A New Title?

Aug 8, 2011

This page: [URL] seems to indicate that it's possible, but it looks like it also pops up an alert window which would be annoying as hell. Is there a way to, say, once every minute change the title bar text?

You see I have a text file of rotating slogans that appear each time you reload a page on my site and someone suggested that having them change even when the page is already open might be fun. I thought I'd look into it and see if it's possible. The site is [URL]

I don't know enough about javascript to know if this is possible. I am fairly good at implementing and installing other people's code, though, and can usually make minor changes to tweak things.
