This is in regards to Jrn Zaefferer's plug in.How do you customize input validation so that I can remove foullanguage?So that first name or last name doesn't have "fck you" or something
I need to validate two forms containing multiple input fields but want just one error message if any of the fields are left blank, the page is required to submit the users details (registration form). Also if any of these fields are left blank i don't want to be able to go to the next page on clicking the submit button
Here is what I'm trying to do. I have a 12-digit (UPC-A) javascript validation script which works great. All I need now is a similar script for 8-digit (UPC-E) type script? I don't want to convert it to a 12-digit UPC-A before validating it as a 12-digit number. I would prefer to just be able to calc the number, as an 8-digit number, check digit and all, just like I am currently doing successfully with this 12-digit validation script: Code:
I have just started learning JavaScript, so I do not know much about it at this moment. I need suggestion regarding validation of input values which are actually in an array. My HTML looks like this:
User can add more input fields by adding "Add" button; I'm using JavaScript for that purpose. By default, only a couple of fields is shown. I want to validate these all fields using a loop or a number of loops, such that an alert appears if any field is left blank and also if any value in title[] array matches another value in that array and same for the second array url[] Examples of working would be something like this:
If Link# 1 is left blank: alert("Link# 1 is empty"); or If Link# 2 is left blank: alert("Link# 2 is empty"); or If Title# 1 is left blank: alert("Title# 1 is empty"); or If Title# 2 is left blank: alert("Title# 2 is empty"); or If Link# 1 == Link# 2: alert("Link# 1 is same as Link#2"); or If Link# 1 == Link# 3: alert("Link# 1 is same as Link#2"); or If Title# 1 == Title# 3: alert("Title# 1 is same as Title#3"); etc, etc.
The form contains 3 file input tags. The name for each is an array. This is for further processing by PHP script. I want to make sure at least one of the file input tags has selected a file.
The rest of the validation script works, but I get a 'not object' error when I include the section that checks the file input tags. Code:
I have a javascript function which checks if the user has enteed certain text into an input or if they have entered any text at all before the submit button which submits the text is able to be activated. How can I enhance this so that if the user no text at all and only enters several spaces this will also not be allowed and will return false?
Example for FirstName data input: Characters a-z,A-Z, hyphen, space are permitted. 0-1, !@#$%^&*()- etc are not permitted.
The plugin looks great but I am not able to figure-out how to limit which characters an end-user is allowed to input. Not just which characters are permitted but also which characters are not permitted.
How can I do validation on a group of input fields, as long as one of the 3 fields have a value then it's valid,I've managed to group them, but it's showing up with 3 error messages instead of one. How can I get it to display just the one error msg for all 3 input fields?
<script language = "Javascript"> function echeck(str) { var at="@" var dot="." var lat=str.indexOf(at) var lstr=str.length var ldot=str.indexOf(dot) if (str.indexOf(at)==-1){ alert("Invalid Email") return false } ..... The form submits even if no input is provided. The database get updated with blank values.
Currently on my form if you your input dosn't pass my validation you will see an error message and red box will also appear around the input box. The issue is that if you will it out the box will not disappear until you hit submit. Obviously that is because I have PHP validate the form, but I would like for the red border to go away as soon as the conditions are met, which is why I thought, JS would be the best solution.
I know how to write a conditional state in JS but I am not sure ho to echo out different classes based on the conditions.
I am trying to create a script for checking that checks that the email address entered into two input boxes is the same when a submit button is clicked, I have these two input boxes <input type="text" name="user_email" id="user_email" /> <input type="text" name="user_email2" id="user_email2" />
This javascript code <script type="text/javascript"> var email1 = document.getElementById(user_email); var email2 = document.getElementById(user_email2); function checkEmail(){ if (email1 != email2){ alert("The two email addresses are not the same"); }} </script>
And this code for the button <input type="submit" name="submit" id="submit" onSubmit="checkEmail" /> However this code is not working.
I am using the jquery plugin and want the validation to upload only extension .doc but it does not validates the HTML5 input file when the name has brackets.[code]
I have the follow code: <script type ="text/javascript" > jQuery(document).ready(function() { jQuery('#selectone').change(function() { if(jQuery('#selectone option:selected').text() == 'General'){ jQuery("form[id=search]").attr('action', '/portal/search'); jQuery('form[id=search]').attr('id', 'cse-search-box1'); ..... But, W3C says: Line 150, Column 154: document type does not allow element "input" here because I am using input inside of <script> and it's wrong.
I'm trying to validate an input type text html tag with JS.There is an array (prefisso[]) with a lot of dial codes.The first 3 characters of the value to check must be one of the elements of "prefisso[]".The value to check must be longer than 9 chars (min 10).
I'm using jQuery Validation on my form with ajax submit, but for some reason the label error message is replacing my input field completely. I can't figure it out for the life of me... Here's my html/js. I'm using the default validation since i'm using the ajax submit. I've also tried the custom error's with no luck. Both the label.error and input are displayed as blocks.
What is happening is when I try to submit the form, I receive an error that says I need to input all data in the proper format. <html><head> <title>Conference Registration Form</title> <link href="conf.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> <script type = "text/javascript">
Calculate total registration fee Retrieve the value of the selected index property from guests selection lists Multiply the selected index by 30 and add this to the cost variable If the first member radio button is checked subtract 25 from the value of the cost variable Set the value of the total field equal to the value of the cost variable
I have the following html, field xxx requires a number from 0 to 100 when percentage is selected, and 0 to inifinity when dollar is selected.what's the best practice to setup validation for this?the key is to control the maximum value.I have tried depends expression in a max rule, but it doesn't seem that it can satisfy my requirement.
I'm using the jQuery form validation plugin along with the fileinput plugin which hides the initial input area, but uses <divs> and some styling /javascript to show the file input field.The issue I am having, is that the 'this field is required' text that is meant to show on submission, doesn't come up for the file input field, nor some checkboxes that I have in a table. I am guessing that this is because the code is needing the label to be RIGHT next to the element (in this case the file input or the checkbox) in order for the validation message to show..Are there any work arounds that anyone knows of so that I can get the error message to show?Is there a way to show the error message for required fields when they have a div wrapping them or anything wrapping them? [code]
So I created a custom rule following numerous examples out on the web for a dynamic text input, but for some reason it seems to be letting spaces through even though my regexp tests out ok to not match when the value is any combination of spaces...
$.validator.addMethod("noSpace", function(value, element){ return this.optional(element) || /^[a-z0-9][a-z0-9_ ]{0,70}$/i.test(value); }, "Please enter a name starting with either a letter or a digit."); $('#form').validate({ rules: { [Code]...
The odd thing is, it will work if you type in a space followed by a character, but if you type in one space, or one space followed by x number of spaces, it just lets it through like it's valid. But yet when I look at the demos and examples that I pulled this from, they never let those scenarios go through.
I have a server-side ASP script that dynamically creates an input form from a database table. The table contains a field name, the table where values are stored, type of input control, value for a label, etc.
What I need to do is create a JS validation routine that will check each control for valid input, regardless of what the control name is. If it is a "select", it needs to verify the index is > 1. If it is an "input", it needs to check that it isnt't empty, etc.
Using known fields, I usually do something like this (page name is "me.asp":
