I have a YouTube channel with many videos. The links to these Flash videos are talking to a page within my web site. On the web site, the video pops up in a tiny window on entry of the page, and it closes when you click the close button or it will fade away after it has played its way through.
So the scenario is this: The site looks great, but it doesn't on an iPad. Because I am linking to a Flash YouTube URL, it doesn't load on the non-Flash iPad device. I have done a lot of online reading for a week and discussed on many forums. However, everywhere I turn, I read articles about how what I'm trying to do is not possible--that no YouTube URL will ever play on the iPad. Is this true? If so, why can they play on the iPad YouTube app? What is the difference between the app and my web page?
I found many articles and videos referencing this fallback: [URL]
However, my problem with this fallback is that my videos are on YouTube. I am using a URL to talk to it, more specifically an ID. The client has done this purposely to save bandwidth on their server. I have the start of the Javascript looking like this:
function loadPlayer() {
var params = { allowScriptAccess: "always" };
var atts = { id: "myytplayer" };
[Code].....
Within the loadPlayer function, can I add fallbacks in here (after line 4)? If so, how do I go about writing one? I suppose I'm just lost on how to get the HTML5 video option to work with my project. I have heard YouTube is using HTML5 video in beta, and it may be running in a few months. Would this auto-correct my problem do you think?
Is there a way to find the native file in the YouTube channel and bypass the .swf reference?

I'm trying to implement the Growl option for the blockUI plugin, the "hard" way ( as seen here: http:[url].... second to last example). The reason why I'm going the "hard" way is because I'd like to have multiple Growl messages - one for an error,one for a success, etc, all of which have different background images / styles (ex: a red X for error, a green checkmark for a success).The "easy" growl method, while allowing for different text content,only allows for one style. Thus I'm trying to get around this limitation using the "hard" way:
$.blockUI({
message: $('div.growlUI'),
fadeIn: 700, [code]...
subsequently adding different styles in my stylesheet. Yet I get an error that says "data.parent = node.parentNode", when I try and run the above code. Has anyone had any luck getting *different* growl messages with different styles/images in them to run on the same page?

I'm looking to duplicate the video-embedding technique shown on revision5.com, whereby they show the flash video to all platforms where flash is available, and only show the HTML5 player on mobile devices. Is there a browser-sniffing framework, or some other method available to accomplish this?

I'm using jmediaelement to provide jquery-ui styled controls for video. Works in all browsers, including, with jplayer fallback, Firefox and IE9, and even IE8 when the content is inside a jquery ui dialog. But for some reason on page loads with IE8 the jplayer swf object isn't injected into the page...
This is the markup in the page:
I'm loading jQuery, jquery ui, jmediaelement's mm.full.min.js and jmeEmbedControls.js in the page footer. player.swf is available in the same dir. In a subsequent script, I'm calling embedControls on any video elements in the page:
I have no idea even what to try. I tried adding jme's debug js file, but get nothing useful from it in IE8. Loading in FF it just prints "everything looks ok" in console. When I call jmeEmbedControls() from the console it just adds another set of controls below the original. No jwplayer. No styling.
Weirder yet, when I put the same markup that does not work in the page into a jquery ui dialog(), init the modal dialog, and make the same call to jmeEmbedControls, the video inside the dialog is skinned with jwplayer and plays (css is a little off, but it plays fine).
What am I missing? Why would code in the original page load not be skinned with jwplayer, and code rendered in a jQuery().dialog() then get the correct jwplayer funct? (I know about the local security sandbox issues and have added localhost to my trusted sites. Also, same problem on http live site.)

I work for a company called Best of the Best (www.botb.com). We use Flash countdown clocks to mark the end of our competitions. The issue we now have is that our clients are using mobile platforms more and more and as bloody Apple wont support flash (not fully anyway) we need the option to detect whether our users have flash and if not then replace the current <OBJECT>Blah Blah Parameters etc</OBJECT> with <DIVCLASS="NON_FLASH_CONTAINER">All other bits in middle</DIV>Is this at all possible?

I'm trying to put some code together to create an image-swapping system, that when you click on the image it'll hide the image and replace it with a given iframe vimeo/youtube code...The swapping part works fine, however when the iframe loads up, it hides all other flash objects in the page, and I can't figure out why.Here's the JS
Code:
function swapvideo(w,h,url) {
document.getElementById('video_pholder').style.display='none';

I have created no flash pages and flash pages, but instead of creating a portal at the front of the site that leads you to a flash site and a no flash site id like to do it so the page detects flash or not, and redirects to whichever URL.
Is this possible, or do multiple browsers cause problems ?

I have created a transparent flash video (virtual spokesperson) for my website. For demoing purposes, I would like to have this appear on any desired website.
This is what I am trying to produce - here a virtual spokesperson appears on the [url]website: [url]
Have a look at other sites which enable one to type in a URL and their demo virtual spokesperson appears on the given site: [url] [url]
I believe they do this within an iframe to display the underlying website.

I'm trying to write a site a hosts some of my own videos. I want to have a list of videos, each as a link, and when I click on one I want it to load on that same page by graying out everything else but the video. I'm using html 5 and css and I can get the video to come up, but the problem is that when I go to that page, all of the videos load. If I play a video from the pop up window and then close the window, the video will keep playing.

I can play a sound on my local machine, but when I upload to a server the same code it does not play. I cannot work out why, the link below gives the code. The multi channel code is here:
[URL]
I installed Firebug and insepcted the Net components and can see that the .wav files are being ought out but returning a 304 and then 404 error. This would be fine, however the path being sought is correct. Going to link does'nt play the sound, but removing the file and paring back to the directory brings you to the directory on the server and clicking the file does play the sound. The code works locally, and I simply cannot see what could be causing the issue in the server versions on both Firefox and Chrome.

I'm trying to learn js &html5. now i have an issue. i'm working on a dice game (craps) using the html5 <canvas>. my dice are working fine but every time i click the "roll" button the page reloads which resets my form. the form provides feedback about the rolls. it includes the output of the counter variable, and win, lose, or shoot again info.
Html5 can be viewed at
Here is some of the js. if you need it all i'll post it later - just let me know.
Fyi- if i take the call to fxInit() out of the body tag in the html5 the canvas does not persist, it blinks with every (roll) onClick Event
I have used ie9 js debugger and it steps through flawlessly every time 4-5 counts .
var firstTurn = true;

I'm using the following code to remove an option from a select control based on a selection in a different select control and the option text in the select option that is being removed. The code works as I want it to, but I would prefer to use the option value for identifying the option to remove instead of using the option text. I've tried several different ways to do this, but can not find the proper syntax.

HTML5 brings two new methods to the js selector API: querySelector() and querySelectorAll(). These methods can be used to match elements against a group of selectors. I think, a lot of the functionality overlaps with jQuery selectors. My guess is that these new methods will be a few times faster than jQuery selectors because they are natively implemented. My question is, how will jQuery use these additions to the js selector API? Will jQuery selectors just encapsulate these new methods? If so, is this work in progress or..

In an HTML5 document I have a form code...
At the bottom of the form, I have a submit button that calls Javascript validation code...
Result: Error: document.ContactForm.submit is not a function
If I place a page from another site in this site and modify it as needed to work with the cgi document, everything works. Then I can copy the validation code that worked into the HTML5 page and it fails.
The only difference I can see is that one page is XHTML Transitional and the other is HTML5 so apparently there's a trick I don't yet know about using Javascript and HTML5.

I am trying to create an Asteroids type game using JavaScript along with html5's canvas element for drawing. I have searched around and have looked at examples but I can't figure out what is wrong with my rendering that I do in the game loop that is run every frame. The problem appears to be only that the canvas is not cleared at the beginning of each frame but I feel there might be something wrong also. The code used and shown below only works in Firefox but not Google Chrome or Safari.

I am planning to create a web site in HTML5 and Javascript for iPad, for that perpose i need a local database access using javascript. I have installed SQLite on iPad, How i can access Sqlite using javascript.
Points i dont want to implement are: 1] I don't want to use HTML5 Local database storage as it cleans data whenever we clear history and caching. 2] I don't want to use Google gear, becoz it creates dependancy, also i have never used it. Is it possible to access SQLite using pure javascript. so that it will work with all the browsers and also on iPad as well as on XP, Vista machines.
