View 1 RepliesMy group is working on a basic document management system that includes four users. staff member, department director, division chief and clerk. The programming language that we used is PHP.when staff member logs-in on his homepage and uploads a file he must choose reviewer from a dropdown menu that consists of dep. director and div. chief.When he clicks the upload button the homepage of who he chose as reviewer should receive a prompt/alert box upon log-in saying "you have a document to review".For example:if he chose division chief as the reviewer when the person logs-in on his homepage a prompt/alert should display that he has something to review.The code for uploading file is already up and working.

I think it's popping back and forth between "position: fixed" and "position: static" every other scroll.
This happened before I added the else statement.
A live example is at: [URL]
I am looking for a javascript way to make a table header visible as the user scrolls down my web page. The table header is produced by php from a mysql db. The table is populated by results based on the user filter inputs.
see: [URL]
The table cells can be any width depending on the search results. I think a copy of the table header needs to be made and this would then float at the top of the page staying at the top no matter how far the user scrolls down, so that it's position would depend on the scroll bar position.
I have an issue with my div visibility toggling
function toggle_visibility(id) {
var e = document.getElementById(id);
if(e.style.display == 'block')[code]....
and I do the return false to stop the thing from jumping all over the place, but where i click next, the page scrolls down to center on that point, which is really annoying. How do I stop it?
Is there anyway to make a text area scroll down with the page?
<textarea name = "scrollBox" rows = "1" cols = "10">A B C D
I need a JavaScript function that scrolls the browser to the top of the page. I will be calling this function from Flash when needed.

So it took me forever but I finally found a floating menu that works with a horizontally scrolling page - but of course, there's still a little bug. View the page here: [URL]
As you can see, the more you scroll right, the more the menu "compacts" itself, eventually disappearing altogether.

I'm building a site right now that has a left column navigation and the navigation is nested inside a div, which is nested inside a table cell (i.e., <td>). I'm using JQuery to make it so when the user scrolls down the page, the div slides down smoothly and always stays at the top of the page. I have this working just fine, but when I change resolutions (i.e., 1024x768), the div scrolls over the bottom of the page, which is what I don't want. How can I calculate in order for the div to know when it hast reached the bottom of the table cell? I tried using outerHeight to calculate the height of the table cell and then subtracting the height of the div from it, but I'm clearly doing it wrong because it's still not working. You can view the page I'm referring to at [URL].
The JS code I'm using is below.
var name = "#scroller";
var menu_top_limit = 0;
var menu_bottom_limit = $('#holder > #scroller').outerHeight() - 560;
var menu_top_margin = -15;
var menu_shift_duration = 500;
var menuYloc = null;
$(window).scroll(function(){
// Calculate the top offset, adding a limit
offset = menuYloc + $(document).scrollTop() + menu_top_margin;
// Limit the offset to 0 pixels...
// This keeps the menu within it's containing TD boundaries
if(offset < menu_top_limit){
offset = menu_top_limit;
// Give it the PX for pixels:
offset += "px"; }
/*else if(offset > menu_bottom_limit){
offset = menu_bottom_limit;
offset += "px";
}*/
// Animate:
$(name).animate({top:offset},
{duration:menu_shift_duration,queue:false});
I have a website on a Shared Server at work that I'm trying to get an iFrame to view the contents of a lengthy .txt file and I need it to AUTOMATICALLY scroll to the BOTTOM of the .txt file when the webpage opens. I have a script that will scroll .htm files to the bottom but I can't get it to automatically Scroll a .txt file to the bottom (Best I've gotten is a button that you click which scrolls to the bottom) but I need it to Automatically do it when the page opens.
If it matters... My .txt file is actually a .LOG written in notepad with the 1st word ".LOG" which automatically inserts the Time & Date Each time the file is opened and it opens with the Cursor Automatically at the Bottom of the page.
So with the below form if the value of any of the select list changes the user is alerted something like "You are about to make 2 changes". How can I do this?
<script>
function validate(){
}
</script>
<form method="POST" onsubmit="return validate()" action="--WEBBOT-SELF--">

I am creating dynamic questions and question's choices (radiobuttons or checkboxes) from database when runtime..after users answer the question, press next button to pass the next questions
For example
1) Question definition
a)choice definition
b)choice definition
c)....
Users have to choose any choices..if not, my system is giving alert, Actually my problem is about checkboxes. I created hidden textboxes, if question choices' type is checkbox. So the last choice definition is name "Other". If user checks the other choice, the hidden textbox is going to be visible. It is all okay until here. I want to give a error alert if user checks the other choice and doesn't fill the textbox when press next question. I don't validate this. How can i do it.

I have an webbpage, and in the middle of it there is an iframe to a php site. So i have used this code, so after some seconds the iframe will send the guest to another page. <meta http-equiv="refresh" traget="_top" content="5 url=http://mypage.com"/> But the thing is that i want the WHOLE page to reload, and go to that page after 5 seconds (we can say). With that code, only the iframe are going to another page. Is it possible to make the whole page send the user after some seconds, to another page and not only the iframe?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to add a global event handler for mousedown that will register whenever the user clicks anywhere on the page but I'm having trouble.This is what I'm trying to do:
var body = document.getElementsByTagName("body");
alert(body);
body.addEventListener(mouseDown, myHandler);[code]....
But the event handler is never called. I can't even seem to get access to the body. Is the body tag the wrong place to be assigning the mousedown handler? I'm trying to make this code work correctly in both IE and firefox.
