I have simple table

I want to get the left position of the table.
Everything I did getting wrong :
mytable.left doesn't work, neither mytable.style.left,
mytable.getAttribute("left") ...
What is the correct syntax for getting the position of the table element
(and others ...) ?
I have a calendar inside a div on my webpage which will show /hide when
user click a button. but the button is almost at the bottom of my
webpage, I am using position :absolute for the div so everytime when
the div shows, it will "drop down" cause the vertical scroll bar
appears on web browser and the user have to scroll down to see the
whole calendar. I was trying to change the div position (e.g if it is
near the bottom of webbrowser then "drop-up") when the div is showing.
My question is How can I know its position is near the bottom of web browser? (how can
I know the height of the browser) How can I change the position of this div?

I'm trying to apply the "absolute" position to the DOM object for non-IE browsers but Mozilla (or Firefox) does not recognize it. But the top and left position works for the "div" tag though. The IE browser works fine though.[code]...

I am trying to create a script that keeps an object fixed horizontally while bing positioned absolute vertically. if I replace the toPP variable in document.getElementById('fire').style.top = toPP; with say '50px' it will move the element down 50 pxs, but how I have it currently it doesn't do anything in chrome

#navigation li is the parent element, which is positioned relative.The ul element above that is also position relative. I previously tested a click function and was able to confirm I was getting the correct position back, so now I just need to set the CSS property correctly for all of those links.The reason I want to do this is I have a set of links that appear over a photo of a city skyline. When you hover over those items, I want them to be given a background image that is a blurred and lightened version of the same photo so it needs to line up (sort of like the tabs are made of frosted glass).

I have come across an issue that only happens with IE.I have a custom save function that is designed to handle different ajax submits but I will simplify it for debugging. The issue is that once I make a submit everthing is fine at first. Then once I try to submit a second time it craps out. I am checking to see if there is an onsubmit function and then executing it like so before continuing. After the inital submit it is no longer found. When I alert the typeof document on the form it returns object but when I add the onsubmit it says object expected or object is null or undefined.

But IE and Opera don't have a MouseEvent or HTMLElement that can be set up in the same way. Can you do this in IE or Opera, or just Firefox, and maybe Webkit?
every time I try and alert:

Is there any way at all to create a new template object that inherits from the built in Date object so as to be able to add new methods to that child object without adding them to the built in Date object? I am using a Photo Gallery script called Galleria which uses jQuery/JavaScript to display photos. On my index page load (only in Internet Explorer), a message box pops up saying "Message from Web Page [object Object]". My problem is that the variable msg1 does not work when accessed from function called from the jQuery get function. I get the message undefined. Therefore I am wondering, is there a way how I can access msg1 of my object instance from the get function of jQuery?

I've been trying to create a 'loading page' for a from. When a user submitts a form, a loading animation is displayed on the page. Then I have javascript connecting to a url on my server that generates a dynamic file and returns it from memory. My problem is that I can display the text from this new file, but what I want to do is prompt the user to save the file locally. Is there a way to make this sort of conversion in javascript?
