Generate A Drop Down List Using A Supplied Xml Form With An Xsl Sheet?
Dec 2, 2011
I'm trying to generate a drop down list using a supplied xml form with an xsl sheet. Because xsl lacks commands that will allow me to create repetitive <options> I am using javascript. A sample xml file that I am using is bellow.
I am trying to create a drop down list which depend to the value selected from the previous drop down list. I can add it without problem, but If I change again the value of the first drop down list I would like to remove the previous drop down list generated from the first value. If I try to remove it when I create the element, it even does not create the element, the remove element function seems to work because when you click on the remove link it works.
I need to be able to change the fields of a form based on a drop-down list. Like if someone picks option A field 1 shows and if they change it to option B field 1 and 2 show up without reloading the page.
If you need me to explain more I will try to do a better job. If I could be pointed in the general direction that would be great, I dont exactly need to be spoon-fed, although I do like spoons if you catch my drift .
rm validation! I want this to be validated upon selection of the drop down list (not when it comes to submit button)I have 2 drop down lists:Starting date (June 5th, 6th 7th)Ending date (June 5th, 6th 7th)I want to write a script that would NOT ALLOW one to choose:- Starting date June 6th and Ending date June 5th- Starting date June 7th and Ending date June 6th- Starting date June 7th and Ending date June 5th
I have a dropdown list. (eg: 4 options)Another dropdown list will be showed when i select the second or fourth option from first dropdown list. How can I do that?
I would like for the information selected in the list boxes to automatically build/generate text in the body of the page below the text boxes. Please see the attached image for an idea of what I mean.As more boxes are selected, the rest of the Part Number is generated.This is somewhat similar to chained list box, but instead of generating a 2nd list box, I want each list box to generate into it's own cell at the bottom of the page.
I want to make an extensive browser/fileupload script inspired on windows Explorer... A server side listing of the files and directories with the home directory specified in the script and a listing of the clients files. The server side part can be found on http://vegeta.evilkalah.be ... The idea now is to make it possible to upload or download (maybe drag and drop) files from on side to the other. I don't know how I best make the client side. So on this part any help is welcome...
I've never worked with Ajax before but I've been reading up on it and done some basic tutorials and am comfortable with the concept of asynchronous communication and how everything works from a technical communication perspective. That being said I have no idea where to start on this project which seems like it should be fairly simple. 1. the browser will have a "working area" which is a rectangle of some decent size, there will be a toolbar of objects on the left hand side. This work area should be shown as a grid that the objects will be placed into.The size of this grid (basically the gridlines) will need to be generated automatically based on user input (also the size of the components/objects that will be dragged in and the size of the rectangle) if it is too large (say 500) i'd like a way to pan around and zoom in as well... 2. For simplicity say there are 2 components: Available, unavailable and an erase feature. 3. each object when dragged to the working area should create an object that has some properties (handled programatically from input elsewhere on a simple form) I will be placing these in a database server side. 4. I'd like to be able to drag across the grid to continuously add the selected object and I'd like to be able to click a button on the edge of the grid to fill in the entire row with the objects. From everything I've read on this it seems like this should be somewhat easy but again I don't know what framework to use to start. I'll be putting this in a drupal site and integrating it with a few modules if that makes a difference (i think that part of the programming will be separate from whatever specific implementation I use to get this Ajax part up though)
I run a website for a skittle league and am looking to create a form to allow teams to sumbit results on line. I'm not an expert on Javascript, the code I've created so far allows the user to enter the player name and score for one team and calcutate the total. However, I'm having problems duplicating this for a second team, and would like to remove the Get Total button (i.e. Auto Calculate total).
The Code I have so far is <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> function getTotalH1(oForm){ var field, i = 0, total = 0, els = oForm.elements; var fieldnames = ['PSH1' , 'PSH2' , 'PSH3' , 'PSH4' , 'PSH5']; for (i; i < fieldnames.length; ++i){ field = els[fieldnames[i]]; if (field.value != '' && isNaN(field.value)) { alert('Please enter a valid number here.') field.focus(); field.select(); return ''; .....
I have a form, EWMS.php, that is a score sheet for a dart league. In this form I first have a user choose a division. Ajax returns that choice via MySQL database and PHP. Upon choosing a division that also fills in the next drop down choices of team, which again calls Ajax and brings in the teams associated with the division choice. All works good so far. The last call on team choice drop down brings in the players on that team in another drop down which is peppered throughout the form as it is based on these players that are chosen. The beginning form tag and ending form tag are located in the EWMS.php file while Ajax loads other input elements from the database into the middle of the form.
So now that the form works with these drop downs grabbing MySQL data, I am testing the data the user input by using action="process.php" method="post" in the form tag. In process.php I have some basic code: $date=$_POST['date']; $week=$_POST['week']; $league=$_POST['league']; //HOME TEAM $teamH=$_POST['teamH']; //VISITING TEAM $teamV=$_POST['teamV']; .....
When a league is chosen it brings in this findleague.php : <?php $league=$_GET['league']; //echo $league; include("sparkplug2.php"); $result = mysql_query("SELECT DISTINCT(team) FROM member_data2011spring WHERE division = '$league' ORDER BY team ASC") or die(mysql_error()); $result2 = mysql_query("SELECT DISTINCT(team) FROM member_data2011spring WHERE division = '$league' ORDER BY team ASC") or die(mysql_error()); ?> .....
I have a table that has parts with multiple characteristics. Part Number, Height, Width, Capacity, Price, Etc. I would like to have a drop downs for all of these values, when a user selects one of these values it will filter the results into a list. Ex. user selects a part that has a Height of 6 and width of 10 it will only list those parts. As I said earlier, I have a script that will give me all the parts, however I am not able to make the onchange list parts with multiple values.
I have a page that displays a list of people playing in a tournament. I need to be able to generate a Leaderboard based on which players are manually selected by the admin. Next to each person there is a drop-down list. An admin can go in and select a "slot" that a player should be in on the leader board from 1 to 8, or leave it blank if none. What I need to figure out how to do is the following, when a change event happens on a drop-down list, and say the value 5 is selected, I need to check to make sure that 5 is not already selected in one of the other players drop-down lists, in other words, that the 5th leaderboard slot is not already full. if it is, display an error message and make them change that one first. how to do that with jQuery? I'm thinking it will have something to do with the each() function, but not sure exactly how the logic should work.
I have been struggling on a bit of code for a while now. I need to populate a second drop down list (Region) based upon the selection of the first (County).I have found a piece of code that works on its own and have adapted to suit my needs - see below. However, when I drop it into my main page the javascript is not working. It's because of the formObject but I just don't know enough to resolve this! Furthermore, I need the textboxes the user has already completed in the form to retain their value once the javascript kicks in as the completed form will submit to a database.This piece of code is working well . . . .
<?php
$link = mysql_connect('myhost', 'myusername', 'mypassword') or die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); mysql_select_db('mydatabase') or die('Could not select database');[code]......
I have done how to find out co ordinate(x and y axis) of a point on an image where a user clicks. But I need the opposite thing now. I need to mark a point on an image when a user gives suitable x axis and y axis co ordinate as input, how can i do this with java script?
I've been beating my head against a wall for a few days trying to get this working. I'm trying to create a dynamic menu where a user selects one item and another select list is shown, then another and another (and so on). Here is my JS, it *should* be taking the ID of the div, comparing it to the selected value and then showing another div by settings it's class property to visible:
I am looking for a method to automatically generate form fields.
Initially on the form there will be 2 select fields right next to each other. These fields are not multiple fields and multiple fields will not work with this scenario because both fields correspond to each other.
Now if the user selects something in each of these fields 2 more select boxes will generate directly below them. and on and on and on......
Does anyone have any thoughts on the best way to approach this...
I'm currently using the following script to generate today's date in a form. However it generates month and year separately. Our system works by coupling the month and year together (e.g. 03:2010)
Is it possible to do the following with JavaScript? Get information from form Generate form results as a single text string $_POST string to PHP so it can be passed from one page to next. This is to get around limitations of my host. I have Parts 1 and 2 done. I need to know how to do 3.
I am trying to generate an ajax form based on a database value of max and min years. At present i have the following.
[Code]...
What I am struggling with is the logic to say if minyears is more than 1 (string in option needs to say years), then add in every year between min and max as additional options. My brain has been melting with this for a few days now
I am not new to jQuery but I just want to ask the best way to approach this. Basically I have a textfield in which the user is going to type in a number (for example 20) and after this textfield lose focus jQuery will be triggered to create whatever number of textfields the user put before (in this case 20).
So, to illustrate: How many users do you have: [ 2 ](and after the field above lose focus, the below will be generated)
iam trying to use 5 drop downs in my form for user to select languages and each select drop down should not allow the user to select the same language again and all my drop downs are populating individually from the DB on the page so if "English" is selected for "dropdown 1" then again "drop down 2" should not allow "English" to be selected.
How can I create a Javascript drop down list File? I want to have a webpage that contain a dropdownlist. But i want the items and values of that drop down lists to be stored in a seperate javascript file, So that my webpage call that JS file whenever user click on the DDList.
Basically what i am interested in is to place all my drop down list Items manually in the javascripting file and then on the main page there will be links from alphabet A-Z so when the user click on alphabet A the dropdown list will only show the containing items start with alphabet A....
Hope this makes sense!! The reason why is because there is a long list of items and i dont want to put them inside my page.
