I have a for each loop in javascript, of which I need to output to an
ASP array. unfortunantly not too familiar with javascript..
the loop is for items ordered in a shopping cart. they are displayed
as rows of a table. all i need to do is get the same data into an ASP
array to use on the next page, specificaly the +theitem+ and
+thenumber+ variables. Code:
The difficulty is in declaring my array properly and then looping through it to output the contents as desired. You can see the details below. What I should be doing with the array and loop to make it work proplery?

I would like to some javascript connect to a URL on the same webserver
and read a CGI. The output from this CGI is not plain HTML but rather
data which needs to be displayed in a moving graph. Coming from a Perl
background I'd say I'm looking to do something like:

Is something like this possible to do in javascript?

I need to grab the last 5 rows from my database (2 fields per row) and list all 5 in a table but from within a .js file that I can externally link to.
I can manage the php / mysql and the output to a .php page but how can this be contained within a .js file?
I believe it is possible but after 2 days of searching on google I'm appealing for assistance.
I realise this could be done with a php include or iframe but that isn't an option and the only way available to import this data is via an external javascript script.
Let's say I have a Javascript function that loops over and over. In
that function i have it alternating images on a button this way:

This works great using Firefox, and works with Internet Explorer also
EXCEPT if its set to "Check for newer versions of stored pages: Every
visit to the page". With that setting, IE will download those 2 images
from the server every single time through the loop. So then I tried
putting both images on the same jpg and then moving the image:

This also works, but also, constantly downloads new images when using
IE with the above setting. Microsoft calls this a "feature". They then
offer a fix for this "feature" that... doesn't work. Preloading
doesn't work. Loading the 2 images in a <divset to invisible doesn't
work. I've tried suggestions of creating php files that tell the
browser that the images don't expire for years. That didn't work for
me. Many people have also suggested that there is no way around it...
it can't be fixed until Microsoft fixes it.
So, is there any javascript way to loop 2 images on a button, without
Internet Explorer constantly downloading those 2 images over and over,
when its set to "Check for newer versions of stored pages: Every visit
to the page"?
I'm working on a script(for giving points to a soccergame 0, 1 or 3 points)
that give a value to a hidden field, i got a function but only works on 1
field.
I want that the function loops till all hidden fields are fill in.

Is there an idiom for looping over a fixed list of things in JavaScript that doesn't require creating a var before the loop?
I have been looking at this code for two evenings now, and rewrote it 4 times already. It started out as jQuery code and now it's just concatenating strings together.
What I'm trying to do: Build a menu/outline using unordered lists from a multidimensional array.
What is happening: Inside the buildMenuHTML function, if I call buildMenuHTML, the for loop only happens once (i.e. only for 'i' having a value of '0'.) If I comment out the call to itself, it goes through the for loop all 3 times, but obviously the submenus are not created.

I'm looking to send a loop variable (i) to a function inside the loop, but I can't seem to get it to use the value I want, it keeps making it a reference of i and therefore the function is always called using the last value of i rather than the one it was set with.
So if i have 5 Tabs then Tab 1, when clicked, should call DefaultTabClick(0) and so on rather than always using 4 for any of the tabs.

I am doing some studying and we was to create a small loop using either the for loop, while loop or do while loop. I chose to do the for loop because it was easier to understand, but I want to know how to do the same using the while loop. Here is the for loop I have, but I cant figure out how to change to while loop.

There's a setting in php.ini: zlib.output_compression = xxx
If it is set to "On", php will bzip the output of scripts so that there is
less data to transfer to the client.
I found that this setting is quite useful especially on slow connections,
but I have a slight problem with it: it also compresses output of scripts
which generate pdf files. While Mozilla / Firefox handles this well, IE
simply fails to show the document.
Is there any way to tell PHP not to compress output of certain scripts. Is
there a command for that?

How do you simply output the current url in the browser i.e if i am in google.com I want google.com outputted and so on.Also on multilanguage sites if my url is say www.mydomain.com/en/about.html or www.mydomain.com/en/animals/horses/racehorses/stallions.html I want to be able to manipulate the url so I can change en to fr for example when I jump between english and french pages. I have a html form that is submitted with a submit button code...
if I display the output using the alert methods(now commented out) they work fine. I was hoping to display my messages in the div with id of output.
When that didn't work I tried to see if I could send anything to the div.
When I click the submit button the message "WTF" appears for at most half a second. I'm hoping to get it to stick around. I'm sure it has something to do with how form submission works. Maybe I need to submit to the same page? can I do that with JS?
This code works successfully, however the outputted message looks boring and unprofessional.
This appears with a plain grey border around it: "You cannot upload without first logging in. If you have not already logged in, please do that first." How do you add attributes to those script lines? And the border too?

I need to take text from a database, turn it into a barcode from the
Web and print to a Zebra Z4M barcode printer. I am stuck at two
separate approaches.
1. Use ZPL II (Zebra's proprietary language to command the printer)
which is executed at a DOS Prompt with "COPY BarCode.txt LPT1" Is
there any way to run that from the web. Also, is there any other
method of sending the information in the text file to the printer?
2. Use some sort of ActiveX object to compile a barcode label image,
then use another ActiveX object to remove the Header/Footer and
Margins from the IE printout. I have found ActiveX objects that can
compile the image, but have not found anything to block out the
Header/Footer and Margins.
