Jun 17, 2009I have a jq function that uses the $.post and have never really had an issue until a couple of days ago. I have looked over the code many times and can't figure or the issue. I think that it may be something right in front of me but for some reason or another I can't figure it out.The error "Missing } after property list" is given in FF and IE also gives an error, both on page load. Receiving The Error "missing ) After Argument List."
Feb 1, 2009I am receiving the error "missing ) after argument list." I have tried unsuccessfully to solve this error on my own.
The error references this line:

I am sure this is a simple syntax error or something that I am completely overlooking.

Jan 21, 2011i tried coding a different login page but it didnt work and it was very messy so i am making another one the problem is when the incorrect user or password is inserted it is supposed to display an error message saying "wrong username and password" when instead it just gives me a blank page any ideas on why my error message wont show?? my code is

Missing - After Argument List - Dynamic Urls
May 3, 2011I have a menu that is supposed to spin when a link is clicked on and THEN open the link. The onclick function runs nearly simulatenously as the link load, so I'm turning off the default behaviour ("return false") and loading the URL with the function; however this is where the error comes in. I gather from a bunch of google searches that I have escape some characters in the URL, but they are being passed in a variable (this.href), so I don't know how to do this.

JQuery :: Error() Calls Showing Up In Firebug Profile
Mar 17, 2010I am working on an ASP.NET application that make a lot of jquery and javascript calls and trying to optimize the client side code as much as possible. (This web application is only designed to run on special hardware that has very low memory and processing power.)
The profiler in firebug is great for figuring out what calls are taking up the most time. I have already optimized a lot of my selectors and it is much faster.
However the profile shows a lot of jquery error() calls. In the attached image of the firebug profile window you can see it was called 52 times, accounting for 15.4 of the processing time.
Is that normal for jquery to call its error() like that? My code works flawlessy, and there are no error messages in the firefox error console. It seems like that is a significant performance hit. Is there anyway to get more info on what the errors are?

Using Firebug To See What's Being Executed On An Element?
Jul 27, 2011how I could use firebug to step through massive amounts of javascript that were written by someone else. I'm trying to figure something out for work which has me stumped.
An old co-worker wrote some scripts based on prototype to show input fields on a form when certain options were selected on the previous input fields. I'm trying to duplicate his old code but for some reason it's just not working. I can see that the reason those input fields aren't showing up is because display:none is being added on to the element by the js on the second step after the breakpoint (break on attribute change in firebug). This happens on the working page as well but the working page has about 10 more steps afterwards that eventually remove that style.
JQuery :: AJAX Cross Domain Call - 200 But Still Getting Firebug / Js Error
May 4, 2011I trying to make a call to an external domain using $.ajax() and it WORKS, the server receives the call, but the response in firebug errors out in jquery.js line 7760. I've been beating my head at this all day and don't feel like I've made it much further.
I suspect it has something to do with the dataType or type of the request. But I've tried all kinds of things from POST to GET to JSONP in the type. For dataType, I've also tried "html", "text", "xml", "json", and even some combos of "text html" but no success.
