i'm a newbie on jquery i'm studying it with the latest version, and following a book called "Learning Jquery" but iencountered a error, and i don't know what the problem is:
i copied the code from the book like this:$('a[@href^="mailto:"]').addClass('mailto'); to try to change the links which start with "mailto" to the new class "mailto" but there's a error reported: uncaught exception: Syntax error, unrecognized expression: [@href^="mailto:"]
I am trying to create an xmlhttprequest object to update the shopping cart on my web page without submitting the entire page to the server for processing. However, what I have done so far is not working. All that is happening when I click the "update cart" button is the page sort of flashes and the check marks in the remove item check boxes disappear. The first code snippet is the "traditional" way of submitting the whole page to the server for processing - and it works. The second snippet is what I have done to try and implement AJAX to submit only the shopping cart - and it does not work.
I'm receiving the following error: Error: uncaught exception: Syntax error, unrecognized expression: # However all the functionality of the script continues to work, I need to get rid of the error as it looks pretty bad on client's sites and want to make sure the script isnt doing anything funny. The basic set up is a number of Select boxes, When selecting an option in the select boxes, I loop through a JSON stock array to see if the item is in stock and to then enable / disable the relevant options in the other selects based on the stock record. The error (as far as I can see) appears on this line: $("#option" + nextid + " option").filter(function(){
I'm not actually sure that this issue was developed as I upgraded to jQuery 1.5, but it was very much around that time. I packaged my testcase and attatched it to the post. The fallowing error is caught in the JavaScript console when the Öppna Alla button is pressed on the site:
My website have object required error on line 166, and syntax error on line 4, I cant figure out this error. Here is the url 3gmobile.co.in and screenshot
function TableData(headers, row) { this.headerArr = headers; this.rowArr = row;
[code]....
when I call it,though (printTable())i get the error Value undefined(result of expression parent.B.obj.printTable) is not object. i dont rly understand javascript functions... but i think that should work? idk i call it on an onclick event
This is my first post to the group, so please be gentle :) For some unknown (to me at least) reason I'm getting a syntax error in IE from the following code
I want to have a textarea update a database column and then pull down the info from that column and display it, without refreshing. I'm using JQuery and AJAX and PHP and SQL to do this. So far I've been able to update the database row using my $.post() call. The strange thing is, my variables don't seem to be passing to the page - when I try to echo them or look at them they don't show up. Here is my simple index page and call (page names aren't indicative of what I'm trying to do, just placeholders):
I find ajax with jquery more confusing than with regular JS, b/c in jQuery you don't declare XMLHttpRequest object.. so how do you do something like:
In example I mention here,[url] namely [url] I don't understand where var 'msg' is declared, I know it comes from the back-end, but HOW is it passed to the front-end? (how do you do this w/o responseText or something similar?)
I'm trying to connect to a send-mail jsp with ajax.. the email is not getting sent.. I want to test if the ajax connection is being made at all.. don't know how do it w/o something like xmlHttp.responseText
This is my jQuery ajax code for connecting to send-email jsp:
var dataToSend = "name=sName&email=sEmail&msg=sMsg;
I've been working to fix this error for awhile and have tried everything I can find on the web. I have the below code that pulls selected data from checkboxed rows in a table and puts it in to a 2-D array. It then takes it and creates an excel file that the user should be able to "Save As.." When I click the button which calls the below function, I get this error "Automation Server Can't Create Object" I have enabled ActiveX wide open on my IE for testing, tried several Microsoft fixes, no beans.
<p> Howdy <p> expressed as a literal string that is passed to the setTimeout() function might look like this: setTimeout("document.getElementById('first').innerHTML = '<p>' + 'HOWDY' + '</p>';", 2000);
I guess you can't just put quotes around an expression like this: "'<p> HOWDY </p>;" So tags have to be isolated, but it get confusing with expressions like this, which I am not sure how to express as a string:
I wish I could change the " in there to ' and then just wrap the whole thing in double " This is what I came up with but it did not work: setTimeout("document.getElementById('first').innerHTML = '<p>' + '<h2' + 'class='pos_left'' + '>' + '<img' + 'src='car1.jpg'' + 'name='slide'' + 'width='400'' + 'height='250'' + '/>' + '</h2>' + '</p>';", 4000);
IM NEW AT THIS AND I'M WORKING ON MY FIRST WEBSITE. I USED iWED AND I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY IT WON'T WORK. WHENEVER I TRY TO OPEN IT IT SAYS: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/a2460084/public_html/beto/index.html on line 1
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en">[code].....
i tried coding a different login page but it didnt work and it was very messy so i am making another one the problem is when the incorrect user or password is inserted it is supposed to display an error message saying "wrong username and password" when instead it just gives me a blank page any ideas on why my error message wont show?? my code is
I have a jq function that uses the $.post and have never really had an issue until a couple of days ago. I have looked over the code many times and can't figure or the issue. I think that it may be something right in front of me but for some reason or another I can't figure it out.The error "Missing } after property list" is given in FF and IE also gives an error, both on page load. Here is the function:
function editForm(data) { var company=$("#company" + data).val(); if (company=='') {
I've ammended my code now so that I'm using objects, constructors and prototypes.
If I use the standard constructor.prototype.functionname = (){......} type of setup it works okay.
However I'm now experimenting with overwriting the prototype with a literal. As in the code below. i.e. constructor.prototype = {functionname : function() .......
Doing it this way my first new object instance fails. The subsequent new objects are fine.
I ran a check on the properties of the 1st object with '!hasOwnProperty and name in' and the result is that the prototype (or pointer to a prototype) is missing.
So the first new object of FontTrans (oH) has
Code: 1 property is Heading . . 9 property is Delay
i am trying to use mscomm in html and javascript to communicate with a device over the serial port but when i run a test of the activex object in a .hta file i get the error "Automation server can't create object". does anybody know why its doing this? it gives the error on the line with var mscomm = new activex.........
I have tried this using both frames and window.open(). In either case, if the new content comes from a different site than the original (or comes from a site and original is a local file) the document object is inaccessible. The new window object seems to have no document and no all[] or just about anything else useful. If the new content came from the same site (or local computer) as the original, everything seems to be where it belongs. I have looked all over and can find no references to this problem. Is this some security issue that everybody but me knows about?
I am seeing this on IE 6.0.2800.1106. The files are created in notepad so there should be no surprises there.
This object was passed to my click event handler. Why are so many properties missing? The click event came from an <a> in a <li>, propagated down to the <ul> on which the handler was set.
If I click on the <ul>, the event object looks "normal".
I'm trying to include some JSON in my script, but Firebug gives an error that I'm missing a closing bracket, but EVERYTHING matches - brackets, parens, quotes, everything. To make it simple, I've put everything in the onLoad function. Here's the code:
I have a problem, when I load jquery.js from local, my test server is Apache 2.2.14 and PHP 5.3.1. The code is : <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "[URL]"> <html xmlns="[URL]"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>jQuery Starterkit</title> <script language="javascript" src="lib/jquery-1.4.2.min.js"></script> <script language="javascript"> $(function() { $("input").click(function(){ alert('Hello World!'); }); }); </script> </head> <body> <lable>pwd : </lable><input type="text" name="text" value="name"/> </body> </html>
The browser alert (Missing Objects) in localhost. But if I change src to '[URL]', or double click html and run in the browser, it takes effective. So I think there are some problems in my Apache conf file.
Why are Firefox 1.5 and 2.0 no seeing this method when IE6 does"
here's the import statements followed by the function imported, followed by the script trying to create a XMLHttpRequest, followed by the in document script using the imported createRequest() function. Code:
