Aug 13, 2011
I'm trying to pass this string and I keep getting the "missing ; before statement error" which I know means I not escaping something or something,
content='<a href onclick="javascript: document.getElementById 'searchbox').style.display='inline'">here</a> to enter your address' +'<div id="searchbox" display="hidden"><form action="javascript:getDirections()">' +'<input type="hidden" SIZE=40 MAXLENGTH=40 name="saddr" id="saddr" value="" /><br>' +'<div>';

I have a simple example below showing how when I pass in the value of the value attribute of option node, and then use if operator to check whether parameter is a string or not, even though it's a string, it converts it to false boolean and triggers the else statement rather than calling a function.callback should be a string so why is it saying otherwise?

I have a jq function that uses the $.post and have never really had an issue until a couple of days ago. I have looked over the code many times and can't figure or the issue. I think that it may be something right in front of me but for some reason or another I can't figure it out.The error "Missing } after property list" is given in FF and IE also gives an error, both on page load. Here is the function:
function editForm(data) {
var company=$("#company" + data).val();
if (company=='') {

if i group some javascript into a function that returns false; how could i carry that 'false' out of the function so it can be used outside the function.the example below shows the validate function checks for a condition then returns false if it is met. i want this false to then be passed out of the function to then throw an error in its containing function. (goal to prevent the submitting of a form)i dont want the proceed function to be called, so how can the other function prevent this.Now i realise that the validate function could be incorporated into the top level function but, my form will eventually be quite large with a multiplitude of fields so i need to know how i can call back to functions and use them as objects insteasd of repeating lots of code.

I haven't really gotten to far into javascript, but i think i'm going to need to with a particularly annoying problem with one of my javascript statements.
i use this statement in some of pages to take the user back to the referring page:
Code:
<a href="<!--#echo var="HTTP_REFERER"-->">BACK</a>
the problem is if the page is directly accessed this code doesn't work obviously.
error messages suck, what can i do to validate this and if a referrer isn't found then redirect it to the home page of my site?

I am receiving the error "missing ) after argument list." I have tried unsuccessfully to solve this error on my own.
The error references this line:
<body style="background: #4d4d4d; margin: 0pt; " onload="javascript:__utmSetVar('<?php echo $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']; ?>')" onload="onPageLoad();" onunload="onPageUnload();">
I am sure this is a simple syntax error or something that I am completely overlooking.

I am working on a script that seems impossible to work. I want to click on a link, and if the .text() is the same as a classname of a div, I want to do stuff with the div. The problem is that I can't imagine how to set up the if-state. Right now the script is like this:
$(document).ready(function(){
var filterTrig = $('#sortPort a').html();
$('#sortPort a').click(function() {
$('.listItem').each(function(){
if (!filterTrig == $(this).hasClass(filterTrig).html()){
$('listItem').addClass('test'); //later on, animations
}} return false; }); });
The script runs here: [URL]. I have turned off all other javascript to work only with this, if the site seems broken. The filterbox to the left will filter the div items listed to the right. All "boxes" in the list is a div with classname listItem + classes equal to the a.text() in the filters (leftbox). It is thoose divs I´m trying to animte with clicks.

What I am attempting to do is have a link/button on a page
(testpopup.cfm) that opens a popup page (popupwindow.cfm). The popup
page displays a resultset from a query and the selected record needs
to be passed through a query string/URL parameter to the original
calling page and will be available in the body onload event of the
calling page.
I open the popup window and display the query results, I then click on
a record and the record is then displayed in the calling form textbox
(txtOrg) - - - only the calling form appears in the POPUP window!
This is not what I need it to do. I need it to pass the URL parameter
to the calling page and close the popup. Here is the code from the
two pages. Can you shed any light on this? ....
