Aug 19, 2010It's possible to style document.body not to start at 0,0 for example: body {width: 1000px; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;} This means that X/Y of the body is not 0,0 but how can I find out what the position is using javascript? document.body.offsetLeft; is 0 and offsetParent is null yet if I position something absolutely at 0,0 it goes to 0,0 of the window, not the body!

May 2, 2011My site is run on wordpress, but I'd like to customise the menu so that if the user is logged in the menu displays "Logged In" and if they are not it displays "Log In".Normally I would just use an if statement in PHP to output the required html, but as I can't use PHP code in the menu item I need to use Javascript. :mad:So, the way I figured this would work is:1) PHP code in the header checks to see whether the user is logged in2) This code then outputs JS to define a variable (varCheckLogin)3) JS within the menu checks varCheckLogin and outputs the html i wantThis sounds good hopefully. :DUnfortunately this isn't working at the moment. The code I have is:HEADER: (I know this works as the variable is being output correctly in the source code)

Jul 17, 2010I am getting $document.ready(function() not defined in the firebug console. I have seen that in most cases this is caused when the jQuery core is missing or the path is invalid. I do not believe this is the problem in my case becuase firebug shows the code as being loaded successfully and it is readable.

ContentEditable DIV & Document.body
Dec 7, 2006Does a contentEditable DIV have the notion of an internal document? I'm trying to convert code that uses an IFrame.contentWindow.document to use the "document" inside a contentEditable DIV but they don't seem to be similar beasts. Eventually I want to add stylesheets to the contentEditable DIV as well as event handling. I'm porting an IFrame editor to a contentEditable DIV based editor.

Document.body.style.fontsize Is Not Working
May 29, 2007Through an onClick() event, I have an inline function to change the
font size of the page (actually, I need to do this for the entire
website). I have this defined in the header.cfm file as:
onclick="document.body.style.fontSize=཮%'"
This does not work at all for some reason. Whereas,
onclick="document.body.style.backgroundColor='green'"
works. I am not able to understand why this is happening.

Nov 6, 2010I have a code which allows a set few images to be used in a slide-show type style for switching the documents background image which displays a set few images which are declared in an object array.
Basicly I have it all working perfectly with a "Timer" object value so you can set your own display length per picture but what I can't seem to do is make a cross-browser image fade transaction which works for background images, Here is the code

Aug 5, 2009I have an an element that can successfully be retrieved by document.getElementById('id'),but when I attempt to alert(document.getElementById('id').innerHTML), the string is empty. Then, if I try to change the innerHTML like this:
document.getElementById('id').innerHTML += "new string", I get "unknown runtime error".The thing that bothers me is that the element can be gotten with getElementById, but its property innerHTML seems to be either blank or null when in fact, it contains HTML. By the way, this is all in IE. I have tested in FIrefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera, and it works perfectly in those.

Calling A Window Function From Within The Html Document Body
Jul 18, 2011In this example, the same javascript window function is called by two separate form buttons(onClicks) to open('window.open' ) or bring forward( 'object.focus') a window.
One button calls the window function directly from the form and one button calls the window function indirectly from within the body of the html document by first activating a 'document.submit' method .
In particular, using a PC with either Explorer or Firefox, both indirect and direct routes opened a window, but only the direct route could bring the window forward(via 'object.focus') if it was already open. Using a Mac with Firefox, the direct route worked well either to open or to bring forward an existing window, but the indirect route did nothing. On the other hand, when using a Mac with the Safari browser, both routes worked well to open a window and keep it on top.
What do I change or add to get full functionality for the indirect route with the Firefox and Explorer browsers as I get with Safari?

My code uses the document object to replace the html in the "content" <div> and works great.However, I want to add an inline style in order to change the background of the input (readonly field with an id of "coutput") based on either of the global variables named "MJPD" or "IJPD", (depending on the switch case selected in the user prompt at the beginning of the script.)Simplified....if the value of MJPD is less than 4.6, I want the "coutput" field's background to be red, else be green.The same goes for IJPD, except the threshold for red will be <3.83.Code and what I have tried is below.

Onclick Defined Variable - Print Variable Some Place In Document
May 28, 2007i'm not really sure how to explain this, since I know nothing about javascript, so i'll try and illustrate by the use of php (hope it makes sence)
I have a set of different links, like:
<a href="link.com?page=text1">text 1</a>
<a href="link.com?page=text2">text 2</a>
<a href="link.com?page=text3">text 3</a>
etc, where page is dynamic and can be anything I chose..
Another place in the same document, I echo out what the page variable is, like:
echo "$page";
so when clicking "text 1" the echo will output what i've defined the page to be, in this case "text1" ..
So I want to be able to click the links and change the output of the echo all depending on what i've defined in the link - without refreshing the page!
Is there any easy way to do this?

Make Body Content Scroll At The Same Time As An Iframe Located Within The Body?
Feb 21, 2011I'm trying to make my body content scroll at the same time as an iframe located within the body. This has to do with the age old problem of mouse focus on iframes. When my mouse reaches the iframe and it takes over focus, I would like the body to keep scrolling until the iframe is right at the top of the screen. After that I want to relinquish focus to the iframe. I don't mind if the iframe starts scrolling as soon as the mouse reaches it, so long as the main body keeps scrolling for a while.
