Closing A 'floating' Div Without Going Back To Default Div

May 5, 2010

I have a div that opens dynamically, with jQuery, thus

$("#extra-info").fadeIn("slow");

then when I close it I do

$("#extra-info").fadeOut("slow");

this #extra-info div can open on top of any of the divs I hide & show dynamically on the page; but I do need the current div to stay when I close #extra-div (which is positioned absolutely and floats on top of all other content), not go back to default div.. I don't understand why it hides current div and goes back to default div when I close this #extra-div..

Last Link Rolled Over Maintains Picture - Instead Of Switching Back To Default

May 12, 2009

I have a script that has several links and when you rollover the link it changes a main picture to be view as an image. But, when you no longer mouse over the link, it switches back to the default image.

I'd like for the last link that was rolled over to stay enlarged as the main pic until you roll over a different link.

Here's the current script...

Closing .js File When Closing Associated Window

Aug 18, 2010

I have a starting page, Page1.php that uses Page1.js.In Page1.js, I'm using the onclick event for a button that's on that page. When the button is clicked, it goes to Page2.php. Okay, fine.Page2.php is using Page2.js. But when the browser switches to page 2, I get a javascript error because, somehow, it's still referencing the Page1.js file. (Using IE8)So how do I 'dereference' the first javascript file, so that when Page2 loads, it doesn't still try to instantiate the objects in Page1.js? (I'm getting a null object error when Page2.php loads).

Having A Lightbox Pop Up When A User Clicks The Back Button In Their Browser Rather Than Just Navigating Back

Jul 1, 2011

I'm looking to have a lightbox pop up when a user clicks the Back button in their browser rather than just navigating back. The purpose is to ask a question with a Yes/No answer, and if they click No, I allow them to go back. The only thing I've found anything like this is the onUnload event, but that doesn't prevent them from going back. How should this be handled?

Detect Back Button - True To Not Let The Page Load And Kick Them Back X Number Of Pages

Feb 24, 2004

I am trying to write a script that uses the IF statement to see wether or not a user clicked the back button to come to a page, and then if it's true to not let the page load and kick them back X number of pages (say 4) This is what I have so far:

<script language="JavaScript"><!--
if javascript:window.history.back == 1
{
javascript:window.history.back(4);
return false;
}

Back (history.back()) After Refresh

May 29, 2006

I have a webpage popup (lets call it POPUP) which refreshes the opener window (this one we call PARENT) when we close it, saying we want to save data. For this, we use

top.oWndOpener.refresh();

When we don't want to save the POPUP data, we just close the popup and
don't refresh the PARENT. In the PARENT we have a "Back" link which executes a simple

history.back()

The problem is:
If we refresh parent, we need to go back 2 pages, because the refresh
method adds another page to the history. But we have no (easy) way of
knowing in the PARENT if it had been refreshed. With this, our users
are forced to click two times in the Back link.

Is there anyway of going back to the previous page, no matter how many
refreshes happened in the current one ?

JS Call To PHP To XML File Back To PHP And Then Back To JS?

Mar 16, 2010

I have been trying to utilize a pre existing snippet of JS that makes a call to some PHP, where the PHP echo's out the answer, namely a dynamic quick search output, that gains its data from an xml file (which works as expected) and thought I might be able to rework the code to work for my altered purpose (which has been a disaster at every attempt) which is as follows:

1. I have a JS file called call4section.js - JS that has a string (str) value assigned (could be number or a combination of numbers and letters) which is passed to a PHP script called call4section.php.

2. The PHP script takes receipt of the string and finds a match within an XML file for the entry under <reference>.

3. The XML file has a format as follows:

<pages>
<note>
<section>value</section>

[code]....

And well, I dont seem to be able to get any further forward with it. Effectively, I can echo out the $reply (if it worked I think), but my stumbling block is sending the starting string, with the JS expecting some reply sent from the PHP.

Floating Box With CSS?

May 5, 2010

I'd like to know how this site (linked below) does their floating share box on the left side. I notice it starts from a certain position and then it gets pushed down along with the top of the window when the user scrolls down pass that point, sticking to the top. Is there an external js recalculating the top value as the user scrolls down?

how I can do the same effect?

Issues With A Floating Div.

Oct 26, 2006

I have the following div setup

<div id="gray_div" onclick=this.parentNode.style.display="none";
style="border: 1px solid black;position: absolute;top:
1px;right:1px;min-width:100;min-height: 200;background-color:
#000;filter:alpha(opacity=40);-moz-opacity: 0.4;opacity:
0.4;z-index:899;"></div>

In FF it does what the css expects, that is to say it creates a semi
transparent gray box over the screen.

But when i view it in IE 7 it doesnt work, in that it doesnt display it
the same way, only a 1px square top right ofscreen.

Floating Div Within Boundaries?

Jul 11, 2010

Anyway, here is a simple query, or at least it looks simple on the surface...

I would like to have a floating div follow the user as they scroll the page. I have found the EXACT script that I need here: [URL]
The only thing is I would like the floating menu to float within another div and not move from outside of that containing div. As the script is, the menu position is absolute relative to the browser. Is there a way to make the floating div absolute to the boundaries of a second containing div like a sidebar, for example?
