Close Window In 3 Seconds After Submit Is Clicked?
Jan 20, 2009
My form is going to be a pop up window. How can i close it 3 seconds after the submit button is clicked?
I need both PHP's message 'Member added successfully' to display and the window to close 3 seconds after.
This is my code (whats in red is my attempt to use setTimeout, but it seems php is overriding it : ( )
<?
include("config_fnsML.php");
$msg='';
$tdtitle = 'New Member';

I have a popup window that opens from a page on my website.
This popup is a form with several fields.
Upon submit button it redirects to a server side ASP page which writes
all data to the DB.
I would like the popup to close immediately after the submit button is
clicked, and data is saved, (or cancel button) - but this does not
happen.
The popup window remains open, even though I have a "return false;"
after window.open in the onclick event.
What am I missing?
<a href="myurl.asp"
'title','toolbar=no,width=700,height=600'); return false;">post a
note</a>;

In the following .submit function, I am attempting to grab the value of the selected option in the facilityCodes dropdown list when I click the submit button and then during the submit function,select the facilityCode again in the dropdown list when the page reloads and then disable the list so that the user cannot change it.However,the situation is when I reload the page after the submit button is clicked the dropdown defaults to the first option and the list is enabled.I apparently am not understanding how.submit works so that I'm selecting the option I'm defining in my code below and then disabling the list AFTER the page reloads due to an error on the page. My question is how can I accomplish this?Here is my code:
$(function() {
$("#ARTransferForm").submit(function() {
var msgsCount = 0;[code]....

I have seen this somewhere, but I don't know how to make it - possibly with a JavaScript integrated with the HTML code to create a submit button.
What I want is once the page is loaded, I want the submit button to count down from 5 to 0, and when it's reached 0, the button is clickable - but before that, nothing happens when you click it obviously.
How can I obtain this? Whether if it's created in JavaScript or jQuery doesn't matter, I use both.

I have this bit of code that works (closes .actions-drop when anything else is clicked):
$(".actions-drop").click(function(e) {
e.stopPropagation();
});
$(document).click(function() {
$(".actions-drop").hide();
});
However, I have a datepicker within .actions-drop and whenever that a date is clicked .actions-drop closes (not what I want). I tried adding 'ui-datepicker' to the first function, but that doesn't seem to work.

Using Dreamweaver 2004. Have a popup that opens loads when home page opens that contains links. Would like for popup to automatically close when a link is clicked. Would be great to have link open in parent page, but I would settle for popup closing.

I have used various popups in the past but I want to know if there is something out there that will do just like my topic title said. It will open when I hover over it and then the only way to close it is to click on a 'close' link within that popup window.Hover over the link 'Cart' at the upper right of the page.I looked at the source but I am not familiar with the scripts there and so I was hoping that someone will point to the right direction.

- I have a button on my Flash site that opens an HTML page in a popup window. In Flash, I open the new window using Actiosnscript 2.0:
- Within the popup window are links to other HTML pages. They all open in the same window. I've been using the following to create the links in Dreamweaver:
- On each page, I have a "Return to Main Menu" button that should close the popup window. To do this, I have been using:
- The problem is that it works differently in each browser, and I can't even get it to consistently close the window in most browsers:
Internet Explorer = popup message appears, asking "Are you sure you want to close this window?" or something similar; window closes after clicking "Yes."
Safari = Only closes if I'm on the original HTML page. If I click on any of the other links (note that these all open in the same window), those pages' "Return to Main Menu" buttons cease to work. However, if I keep clicking "Back" until I get to the original page, it closes.
Opera = Button actually works for each page.
Firefox & Chrome = Does not close the window at all.
I looked into it and saw that others have used a window.opener to solve similar issues. But, since my popup window is opened using Flash/AS2, I need to find a way around it.
I've tried preceding "window.close()" with "window.opener=null" (i.e. -onClick="window.opener=null; window.close()"), but I don't think I'm doing it right because it still doesn't work.
I've also seen others use codes that involve functions and variables, but it is beyond my current coding knowledge to implement this. Like I said, I'm sort of new at this.

I need a script that will open a new window (popup / new link) in a specific size, but will also close the old window (where the popup came from). I know the popup window is easy but finding a work-able close window script as the new window is opened is impossible!!

Why does window.open take atlst 2-3 seconds, only to open even a simple blank page? in my code, i load a page on window.open and increament a counter . but it takes 2-3 seconds and in meantime user is closing new opened window, so counter val is not correct. i cannt stop user from closing new window when it is loading, which is long given what it is doing--
See sample here from Microsoft site - simple window open taking 2-3 secs.. looks to be long.

I'm trying to create code to close the child window I'm creating if the parent window is closed. Here's my code so far:
function openWindow() {
var newWin = window.open(); // open the new window
newWin.document.write('<h1>Child Window</h1>
[Code]...
The above openWindow function is used in this event: <input type="button" name="btn" onclick="openWindow()"value="Open a new window" />
I can generate the new window fine. I just can't close it if the parent window is closed.

Exclamation Javascript problem with submit buttons placed close to each other.there are two buttons which have been called by a javascript here. Both have been coded to redirect to different pages. However, when I hover my mouse on the Regret button it automatically highlights both buttons and when I click regret it redirects to the page where the Confirm button is supposed to redirect. The Confirm button itself is working fine and taking me to the desired page. where the problem is with the Regret button. Basically each button should redirect only to where it is supposed to as I've specified in the Javascript code.

I have a popup window that the user opens, and then after say 10 seconds I want it to redirect the parent window that opened the popup to another page.
As im sure you know, the usual way of redirecting after a set time is:
<meta HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" CONTENT="10;URL=http://newsite.com/newpage.html">
But how can I put that in the popup, but then get the parent window to redirect, rather than the popup?

I'm using Gravity forms for a fancybox popup here- hit the 'JOIN' button and you'll see the popup. What I need to do is close the popup when the submit button is hit and then redirect the parent page to a specific url. I cannot wrap the submit button itself in a link because I'm using Gravity Forms. Is there another way to do this?
