I have a simple example below showing how when I pass in the value of the value attribute of option node, and then use if operator to check whether parameter is a string or not, even though it's a string, it converts it to false boolean and triggers the else statement rather than calling a function.callback should be a string so why is it saying otherwise?

How to check if some char in textbox contains one of the ones in string "allowedChars"
I've the following JSON string generated with random Name and Location:
{"Super" : [{"Name" : "UOBRSVTG","Location" : "WADTXVBAAL"},{"Name" : "WMWYIOLD","Location" : "DVVRGSEQBS"},{"Name" : "QZLOPGCW","Location" : "TISSQSJQRA"},{"Name" : "ZVGNGPRX","Location" : "LETLPHUJKA"},{"Name" :

how I would be able to convert a string of html into a series of div elements that I can iterate through and perform jquery functions on, specifically .hide() and .slideDown(). For example, I retrieve a string from a jquery ajax call of html that looks something like this,
<div class="post" id="post2918">

The following sentence makes jQuery hang up: $(":( We'll this activated :D").text()

View 12 Replies View RelatedI have thought about using the standard email checker pattern but we have had problems in the past so looking to check if the string follows these simple rules.
has no spaces, has a character/s at the start followed by an @ then has a character/s followed by a (dot) then another character/s
i.e
a@a.a
aa@aa.aa
aaa@aaaaaaaaa.aaa
i am not sure how the standard pattern works but feel that it may be to complex which causes some email address to fail.
So I want to be able to check the last 15 characters of a string for either <br /> or a space. I know how to do this with PHP but I have no clue how to do this with Javascript and Google is failing me. Could someone point me in the right direction?
I'm assuming this will be done with lastIndexOf but I do not know how to do it. So to reiterate, I want to check to see if either a space exists, or <br />, delete everything after that, and return the string. So the output of the example string would be...

I've to check if a string contains the hostname my 5 cents and it seems to work but not being at all a regex guru .....

I was just wondering how to go about checking the content of a string to see if it matches a set criteria?
For example, if I want to make sure somebody enters a date as mm/yyyy, how do I check to ensure there are:
2 numbers between 1 and 12 before the /.4 numbers between 2005 and 2020 after the /.And that the / appears between the two. I know in PHP you would use a regular expression, but how do you do it in Javascript?
I am trying to check for Arabic characters in a string using Regular expressions. This should return true, as the string in the str variable is indeed Arabic character. But it returns false.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to do a pattern match and check something in a condition but cant get it to work. The first value changes and I need to check and do something if I get a hit on it.
Code:
var mydata = "?first=one&second=two&third=three";
if (mydata.indexOf("first") == "something")
{
alert("No Hit");
} else {
alert("Hit");

Basically I am trying to find out if first is equal to one in the mydata string. My above attempt is not working.
I want to check if the user enters alphabet or numbers only in the
text box. If the user enters non-alphabet or non-numbers, I should pop
up a message and doesn't allow the user to do that. I am using regular

Looking to return true if a question mark (?) exists in a given string.I was thinking of something like the following, but it obviously doesn't work.
alert('/?'.test('my?string'));
Ive just started to learn JavaScript, and I have trouble to write JavaScript code which checks a string to contain at minimum one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter one number and one special character with no white space allowed.
View 4 Replies View Relatedi am trying to pass text from one select box to another select box. The logic is if 10 are added, no more passing must happen. Also if an item is already added, it mustn't be added again.I am using the for loop to check the existence of an item but it is not working: what am i doing wrong?
Code:
function PassSelectValues(){
//pass values from select boxes to select boxes
var counter;[code]....
why isn't counter incrementing at all? The alert message box does appear saying item exists but the item gets added anyway.
I have been looking at this code for two evenings now, and rewrote it 4 times already. It started out as jQuery code and now it's just concatenating strings together.
What I'm trying to do: Build a menu/outline using unordered lists from a multidimensional array.
What is happening: Inside the buildMenuHTML function, if I call buildMenuHTML, the for loop only happens once (i.e. only for 'i' having a value of '0'.) If I comment out the call to itself, it goes through the for loop all 3 times, but obviously the submenus are not created.
Here is the test object:
test = [
{
"name" : "Menu 1",
"url" : "menu1.html",
"submenu" : [
[Code].....
'Menu 2' and 'Menu 3' don't show up! I'm sure it's something small that I'm overlooking.
I'm looking to send a loop variable (i) to a function inside the loop, but I can't seem to get it to use the value I want, it keeps making it a reference of i and therefore the function is always called using the last value of i rather than the one it was set with.
So if i have 5 Tabs then Tab 1, when clicked, should call DefaultTabClick(0) and so on rather than always using 4 for any of the tabs.

View 10 Replies View RelatedHere is the HTML: [URL] I'm trying to uncheck the selected radio button, then set the value to 1 (Yes), basically overwriting theinitialvalue to 1. I've looked at prop(), val(), and attr(), and just don't know where to start. Should I select $('#set_q157 input') or$('#set_q157 input:radio'), or each individual radio?
Do I need to each them, and check if its checked, then change its value, or is there a way to select all three inputs as just one radial button? It would also need to work if the input has not yet been checked.
