## For Loop To Write Out Two Matching Values In An Array?

Jan 26, 2011

Having a small problem with writing out the matches from an array using a For loop.

I have two arrays, lets say arrayA and arrayB. In arrayB are numbers which are a number of miles, ie 1,2,6,4,5,6,6. And in arrayA are the days of the week. Each day of the week is associated with a mileage, ie Mon = 1, Tues = 2 etc.

My script has found the largest mileage in arrayB. Next I have to find the days of the week that match this highest mileage and write these out, along the lines of "The highest mileage was 6 run on Wed, Sat, Sun."

I have managed to get a For loop to work with this BUT..... I can only get it to write out the first instance of the day the match is found. ie "The highest mileage was 6 run on Wed,"

[CODE]
maximumDistanceIndex = 0;
for (var distance = 1; distance < distanceArray.length; distance = distance + 1)
{

## Assigning Array Values In A Compounding Loop - Keep Getting NaN Or Undefine

Sep 25, 2011

I am taking a js class and there is one minor bug that is driving me crazy with this assignment.

First, here is the code I wrote, then my question:

var games = ["Jacks","Chutes and Ladders","Extreme Uno","Bopit","Barbie Doll"];
var price = [4.00,15.99,25.00,27.99,32.00];
var inventory = [40,15,30,20,40];

[Code.....

I can't (just before this line) assign 0 to each array item - to get it defined because if the user goes back in and adds more, it will always reset the number back to 0, which is not what I wanted.

I tried adding an if..else statement instead, but cannot figure out how to get that to work?

## Store Multiple Text Values Into An Array When A Check Box Is Checked?

Oct 18, 2010

I am trying to store multiple text values into an array when a check box is checked. for example when row1 checkbox is checked the values row1col1 and row1col2 are stored in an array. note however row1col1 and row1col2 are editable and not readonly. for example:

<table border="1"> <form id="form1" name="form1" method="post" action="">
<tr>
<td>row1 <input type="checkbox" name="row1" id="row1" /> (when checked the text fields are editable) </td>

## SetTimeout - Error On Second Loop (Box Not Defined)

Jul 11, 2011

but I just can't figure it out. I have trawled the net for a solution and tried many different things that I have seen but still no luck. Maybe the answer is staring me right in the face and I just can't see it. The code it executing the first time but as the setTimeout tries to start the second loop I get an error 'box is not defined'.

function expand(box) {
var box = document.getElementById(box);
var originalHeight = parseInt(box.style.height);
var inc = 5;
newHeight = (originalHeight + inc);
box.style.height = newHeight + "px";
int = setTimeout('expand(box)',100); }

## Simplest Loop Ever - Where Functions S1 - S2 - S3 Are Already Defined

## Comparing Array Values To Select Unique Array Elements?

Apr 10, 2010

This one is throwing me off! Either I am making a stupid mistake or I'm doing it totally wrong I have an array, and I am trying to select unique values from it and assign it to another array. Here is the code:

Code:
var flag;
for (i=0;i<=pdfs.length-1;i++)
{
flag = 1;
for (j=0;j<=pdfs2.length-1;j++)

[Code]...

The problem is that the if (pdfs2[j] == pdfs[i]) statement ends up never being true. There are URL's to pdf files in the array. On the other side, if there is a much easier way to select unique values from an array, please feel free to point it out.

## Use A For Loop To Create Drop-down List?

May 9, 2009

I'm trying to add <option> elements to a <select> list. It isn't going too well! The option elements are years from 2004-2013. My code below successfully increments my year variable, but I'm obviously going awry with how I'm writing to the document. At the moment I get 10 separate select boxes instead of the single select list containing the 10 options for each year.

## Check Group Of Checkboxes And Disable Them

Feb 22, 2006

I've got the following form, which contains two groups of checkboxes: Code:

<form name="myForm">
<input type="checkbox" name="Group1_1" />Group1_1<br />
<input type="checkbox" name="Group1_2" />Group1_2<br />
<input type="checkbox" name="Group1_3" />Group1_3<br />

<input type="checkbox" name="Group2_1" />Group2_1<br />
<input type="checkbox" name="Group2_2" />Group2_2<br />
<input type="checkbox" name="Group2_3" />Group2_3<br />
<input type="checkbox" name="Group2_4" />Group2_4<br />
<input type="checkbox" name="Group2_5" />Group2_5<br />
</form>

I need to be able to check all group 2 checkboxes and disable them from being unchecked when checkbox group1_3 is checked. Unchecking group1_3 checkbox will uncheck all group 2 checkboxes. Does this make sense? Is this possible with Javascript? If so, can anyone suggest how?

## Disable/Enable Textbox From Drop Down?

Apr 22, 2011

came across this forum while searching for an example of how to do something in Javascript, and found the post helpful, but didn't quite answer my query completely... It was a very old thread, few years old, though so I thought best not to revive it from the murky depths :)Basically, I very rarely use JavaScript... in fact, I rarely do any programming at all, but I'm trying to build a basic site at the moment, and I'm wanting to disable/enable a text box based on the value of a drop down menu...The idea behind it is that I have a sub title, and in the admin panel, I want to be able to set whether the sub title is picked randomly from a database, or whether it chooses one, and only one...So in the admin panel, I've got a page that has a drop down menu with two options. Static, and Random. Below this, I've got a text box called Static ID... In this text box, the administrator would insert the database row ID for the specific sub title they want...

Obviously this Static ID field only applies if you select a Static sub title, rather than a Random sub title...So what I want to happen is for the text box to be disabled if the drop down menu is selected as Random... and then enabled if the drop down is selected as Static...So I came across the following script on an old post as mentioned earlier:

<script type = "text/javascript">
function enableTextbox() {
if (document.getElementById("dropdown").value == "New") {

[code]....
