On my site I'm using an external (big) javascript file, in this external file there is a function with the following line in it:
function showslide(){
return(currentSlide);
}
In my main html file the external javascript file is loaded within the head section. This external file does a lot of other stuff besides returning a number.Somewhere in my html file I need to call the showslide function. I tried doing that with this:
<script language ="Javascript" src="upload/3weg_slider.js">
document.write(showslide());
</script>
But it doesn't return anything, when I place an alert line within the function it doesn't show up either.
I have a requirement that my javascript function can be called directly from the other website. I know how to add the external javascript and then call respective function
<input type="button" value="Testing direct function call of javascript" onclick="CALL THE EXTERNAL JAVASCRIPT(which will call main function in it" />
I've followed an online tutorial and successfully created a gallery with a horizontal slide bar using [very specifically] JQuery versions 1.2.6.js and jquery-ui-full-1.5.2.min.js (since otherwise, it does not seem to work).After creating the gallery in the index.html, I decided to put all gallery and slider related scripts into a separate html file to be called with a PHP and ajax script. Here's the problem: While the slider [image] components as well as gallery images [in the slider] loads fine, the slider handler does not work anymore! You can see my problem when you select 'Gallery' from my website. Scroll to the bottom where the horizontal slider is and try moving it. 5%-10% of the time it works, for some odd reason.
I'm not sure what code to show here.. but below are the links I've established to the .js files. With the paths, since the index.html is doing all the calling, I wouldn't have to deal with any '../../*.js' type of paths in order to jump up file levels (this also proven since the images in the gallery are done without '../../' paths).NOTE: ALL of these scripts already work if implemented directly into the index.html. This fails when executed from an external html file
We had a javascript calling a Cold Fusion page (.cfm) and it was working for 2 years. Suddenly yesterday or today its decided it doesn't want to work anymore. I'm picking up somebody elses code I don't know all of the rules here.
All of the examples I've found really want .JS files if called with a script tag, example below.
I am rewriting a website to remove javascript that is repeated on every page.
There is a header, a menubar and a marquee.
I have placed the code for the header and the menubar in external .js files using document.writes. No problem.
But when I created an external .js for the marquee in the same way it does not work!
Both menubar and marquee use functions from a .js file (runtime.js) that was originally in the website, I still call it as it always was and it works fine for menubar but not marquee.
menubar.js uses runtime.js for mouseover, mouseoff functions. Code:
I have a question related to calling external JS files.
I have the following code in a .JS file:
document.writeln('<a href="http://www.xyz.com" TARGET="_BLANK" TITLE="For an online directory of distance graduate programs, click here!"> Click here!</a>');
It works perfectly...
I would like to add a mouseover command to it, i.e.: onMouseOver="window.status='Click here now to visit Education.com!'return true" OnMouseOut="window.status=''return true"
I've used the correct slashes in the right places. However, it doesn't work; probably because I'm trying to place Javascript within Javascript. How can I place the onMouseOver command in the code at the top of this page?
I know that you can call a php script using javascript. For example:
HTML Code: <script type="text/javascript" src="myscript.php"></script> I need to call an external script from within a javascript function. HTML Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function rotateimages(){
I have a form button with id="submit". When pressed, ClickGeocode(credentials) is called. This works fine and dandy with: $('submit").click(ClickGeocode) Despite there being no indication that the function takes an argument 'credentials'. So when I want to call the function at some point in my code, I should be able to do something like ClickGeocode(credentials) ... no? However, my issue is that credentials isn't once defined in my code - it is part of Bing Maps function... like so:
function ClickGeocode(credentials) { map.getCredentials(MakeGeocodeRequest); }
So why does it work using .click(), and how can I call the function without user interaction (simply somewhere in my code) even if 'credentials' is not defined?
I have a small number of functions on an object and for every function I wish to make a different function that calls the original where the this can be passed as a parameter. I am making a library and this is a convenience method for people who don't know about call/apply.
Currently (one of) my function looks like this:
function _find(){ return find.apply(arguments[0],Array.prototype.slice.call(arguments,1)); }
However since my functions are in a object I was wondering if I could make a new array dynamically?
var func = {'find':find}, func_new={}; //this is just an example I don't have this part in my code for(var attr in func) func_new[attr] = Function('return '+attr+'.apply(arguments[0],Array.prototype.slice.call(arguments,1));');
Two calls, one from a form and one from the html body reach the same 'window.open' function but only the former works.
The idea behind the simplified script of my post is to select to open one of two windows (files) by pressing one of two buttons. Each button passes a different parameter to the 'open/focus' window function. This function has an argument(arg) place holder to determine which window(file) to open(or focus) when a button is pushed and a corresponding string(argument) is passed. The window function is simply a double function,repeating the same if-else statements. That is, with the function(arg): "if(if-else) else(if-else)", the argument passed to 'arg' will determine if[to] {open else focus file1(button1)} else[to] {open else focus file2(button2)} in a new window.
Using a PC with either Explorer or Firefox, both the form button and the button coded in the html body opened a new window, but only the form button could bring the window forward(via 'object.focus') if it was already open. Using a Mac with Firefox, the form button worked well either to open or to bring forward an existing window, but the the button coded in the html body did nothing. Two 'alert' are place in the window function to show that the html button's call is reaching the window function. My question is that if this call from the html button passes through the same statements as that of the form button, why does it fail? (The script is in Perl, but it can be viewed as html in the source page.)
PHP Code:
#!/usr/bin/perl -w use CGI qw(:standard);use CGI::Carp qw(fatalsToBrowser);use strict; my $query = new CGI; my $JSCRIPT=<<EOF;
If I use the return keyword to exit the function/loop after they set up the first image rollover, it works perfectly on the first image. However, if I comment out the keyword, theId, which is the variable that contains the id of each respective image (which is the same id of the containing link with "1" added to the end) becomes "undefined" (as my JavaScript console says), and thus none of the images work as they're supposed to work. Not even the first one.
I have 2 javascript files: 1 containing generic functions for my site used sitewide and another for a particular web page containing just the javascript for that page. The page is also calling the jQuery javascript file.
What I want to do is have a javascript function in my main javascript file which uses features of jQuery such as show, hide etc. and then I want to call this javascript function from the other page specific javascript file.
[Code]...
This does not work and so was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction as to how to achieve this or something similar.
I try to make something where you add elements, and can delete elements later by calling a simple function. I simplyfied it right here: It works only to add the paragraphs, but the delete function doesn't work. Tried already to debug with an alert message after each rule... but the problem is with this rule I guess:
My site has a widget that runs by calling an external script on a server outside my control. Normally this runs within a div as the page loads and the widget is displayed within the div.
What I am trying to do is call the script AFTER the page loads rather than while it loads. To do this, I am adding the script to the DOM (in the div I want, not to the head) on window.onload. An alert shows that the script is being created in the div.
The problem is that the script does not appear to fire in IE6 and IE7. In Firefox it runs, but rather than adding the widget to the div, it creates a new page (everything else on the page is lost).
I have made a test page to show the problem, as well as another page showing how the widget normally loads when the called while the page is loading. Code:
I am creating a little word guess game, with a random function which picks the word from an array of 10 words. The second function checks if the users' letter choice is part of the secret word. Currently, each time the checkGuess() function is called, the word is changed, probably because I am calling the wordPicker() function from within. The wordPicker randomly chooses the word, then returns that word. All I want to do is pull that word into the checkGuess function, without calling the wordPicker function as it currently does. Here is the code:
Create secret word array var wordList = new Array("stealth", "telephone", "internet", "nickel", "marine", "instantiate", "method", "function", "television", "monitor")
I am trying to write a function that is being invoked when some one clicks the submit button on the form.<form name="sectionA" action="optionpage.cfm" onSubmit="return abc()">I have three tables with initials textboxes. I want to check if they are empty and return false(stay on the same page), else go to action page.Here is what I am doing, I Created three functions tableA(), tableB(),tableC() call them from function abc(). These functions tableA(), tableB(), tableC() return false if one of the field is empty and stop furthur processing and remain in the same page. If none(errors), then go the other page.i.e if table B has empty fields, page should stop furthur processing and remain in the same page.Here is how I am doing it Can somebody please point out what I am doing wrong here.Even when there is empty field, the code moves me to the actionPage.
The function setEqualHeight(columns) fires on document.ready and works well. However, in the second function (the tab function) I would like to to call the setEqualHeight function in order to recalculate the div heights again. I would like to do this in the "onclick function". How?
Captions for the images are called from the parameters of the main function and delivered into a span or div tag with the appropriate id. A very important part of what needs to be in the captions is text compiled by a separate function, in the project library.I've tried this with and without curly, square and round brackets, with and without semicolons and quotes- all with varying results. Sometimes the function is called, but it appears at the very top of the page and nowhere near the proper <span> tag.
addImage(a,b,c,d); // filename, image name and caption are in a, b and c. // d is the variable where I need to write my other function... addRef(t,s); // I need to put addRef in the d parameter of addImage.
The page checks a database to see whether the user has a value in a field and if they do then a hidden variable in a form is set to this value. However, if they don't, the form displays a drop down box for them to accept a value. The problem arrises with a bit of form validation that is being run on the page. The button to submit the form is disabled unless the user selects an option from the drop down, once they've done this the button not only enables but also changes its value. When the user already has a value in the DB then the button must be enabled and its value changed. I've tried doing this by calling a function in the onLoad method but this isn't working. Code:
I'm trying to execute a javascript function from php. I'm calling the .js file first, then the function, but not getting anywhere. This is the code I have.
How do you call a function if it's name is in a string:
I have the function declared:
function Myfunc($arg1, $arg2){ echo $arg1.$arg2; }
Now consider that cFuncName holds the functions name: cFuncName = "MyFunc" How do I call MyFunc using this string variable? something like .... $cFuncName("Test", "=OK")?
