Call The External Function Properly?
Sep 4, 2011
index.html:
<script type="text/javascript" src="JScript.js"></script>
..
<script type="text/javascript">displayTimes();</script><br>
JScript.js:
function displayTimes() {
document.write("8:30-9:50<br>9:55-11:15<br>11:15-12:00<br>12:00-1:20<br>1:25-2:43");
}
It's not displaying. How do I call the function properly? I tried reading about onload but it only applies to <body> and <img> and I want it in a specific area of the page. I can put the script on the same page and then call the function later, but I want to know if it's not possible doing the above properly.

I have a few buttons on a page I'm developing and I want the onclick event to call a javascript function in an external file and execute it. I would like to be able to pass a parameter to that function and then either have the function take the user to a new URL or make changes to the webpage content.
Initially (just to test) I had inline javascript that caused an alert to popup. That worked fine. Next I took the inline code and put it in a function in an external javascript file that was referenced in the HTML:

I have a js file located on domain A, and on domain B i have included the js file, i want to change some information within my js file depending on the url(pulled from a database). I already have pulled the url via some coding and I am wondering if I use Ajax on domain B will this actually pull the information or will it stop it because of cross domain security? If it will block it, how can I pull this off?

I am having a project requirement of calling a Javascript from a java program or JSP. Here it goes...
I have an external web page which I can access using a hyperlink this page is "Export to PDF" page. In this page we have an "EXPORT" button which on click calls a "do_export" javascript function. On clicking the EXPORT button a PDF is generated.
Now my problem is I do not have the access to the code, so what I can do is to some how open that webpage and then execute that javascript function form a Java program or a JSP file or even a shell script file.
In simple, I want to automate this export process and I had only access to this webpage by a URL.

I have a JavaScript image gallery that loads in a DIV. I have 4 different Galleries - each with their own image array stored in it's own External JavaScript file.
What I want to do, is when you click on a link to any of the 4 galleries that an onclick function calls the relevant external JavaScript file and then loads the array of images in the same DIV. I want to remain on the same page at all times...just a different array of images is seen by the user in the DIV.

This will work perfectly, but as soon as I need to pass Strings inside the selectShape function, I get stuck.
So the question is, how can I create the following and have it working

What im trying to do is to dynamically call an external javascript file. The script once called will provide variables for another function.The problem is that variables can not be passed through from the external script to the parent script. I understand why this is, but i am wondering if there are other ways to load (or refresh) an external script?

The following code works well in both FF and IE
<div id="div1">
<script type="text/javascript">

</div>
<script type="text/javascript">

However if the contents of div1 obtains its innerHTML from an AJAX call then the first <script> tage is not found by getElementsByTagName("script") if there is no other HTML before the <script> tag.

When I call these pages, the html pages are being rendered correctly but the JavaScript and .pl file (form post) is not being executed. Any ideas on how to resolve?

I actually use a counter on a webpage (It works). To do it, I use an inline javascript but I would like to unify the entire page and call that counter directly in the external Javascript that manages the whole site.
Here's the actual code...
Code:
HTML
<body onLoad=gen_hits()>
...
<span id='hits'></span><SCRIPT language="JavaScript" SRC="[URL]"></SCRIPT>
...
</body>
EXTERNAL JAVASCRIPT (ini.js)
var hits="HITS ";
function gen_hits() {
document.getElementById("hits").innerHTML=hits;
}
And here a "view" of my request...
Code:
HTML
<body onLoad=gen_hits()>
...
<span id='hits'></span>
...
</body>
EXTERNAL JAVASCRIPT
var hits="HITS " + <SCRIPT language="JavaScript" SRC="[URL]"></SCRIPT>;
function gen_hits() {
document.getElementById("hits").innerHTML=hits;
}
How to modify it ?

I need to create a code that takes in a function f and a variable x and gives me f(f(x)). For example, if f(x)=2*x and x=3, then f(f(x))=12.
I've tried to look at this from two angles: creating an extra variable to define the function within the function and reusing f on itself. But I can't use either properly.
How can I get my main function to accept a function as its first parameter [function(2*x, 3)]? Is that even possible? I could specify the function f within the twoTimes function, but the point is for f to be a changeable parameter.
I had come up with, but it definitely doesn't work. How should I approach it?
var twoTimes = function(f,x) {
f = function(x) {};
var r = f(x);
return f(r);
};
twoTimes(2*x, 3)

var g=[{score:0,index:0},{score:2,index:1},{score:1,index:2}]

I need to be able to use jQuery's load function to grab the contents of an external file and append them to a particular DOM element. The problem is that when that external file includes scripts that contain calls to document.write, I get weird behavior that changes depending on which browser I'm using.If I'm using Internet Explorer, the load function gets all of the non-script elements from the external page and correctly appends them into the DOM element. Of course, this is not ideal because it ignores the scripts.If I'm using Firefox or Safari, the load function runs the scripts but the document.write output overrides the entirety of the calling page.Thus, I end up with a page that now only contains the document.write output instead of a page that includes the original HTML plus the document.write output as a child of a DOM element.

I'm having an issue with Firefox and the innerHTML code. My index file has the following html body code in it:
Code:
<div id="testBox" style="text-align: center; color:white;">
test text
</div>
Then, in a separate html document loaded through an iframe, I have the following code that works great in IE but not in Firefox:
Code:
<SCRIPT type="text/javascript">
function ChangeML(){
parent.testBox.innerHTML ='text has been changed';
};
</script>
The function ChangeML is called on a click event using MooTools, but I figured that part isn't what's causing the problems because everything else works fine. No error seems to be reported ... it just skips right over this piece of code.
