Accessing .attr() When Creating New Dom Elements (using .live())?
May 15, 2010
I'm trying to access the id of an image I create using .live().When creating the image I give it an id however, I am unable to retrieve that idea later using .attr()
So i've got a form that adds an element onto the page. This is working. When I try to remove said elements, that works. But the same 'delete' button doesn't work on elements not generated by javascript.
Code JavaScript: function destroyQuickTask() { $.post($(this).attr("href"), null, null, "script");
I have some ajax functionality I have made, this basically creates an item in a database by an add button, the items are in a li.
I have a delete button span which when pressed shows a confirm or cancel buttons which are hidden initially, If i have more than one item in the list is will show and hide them on all the items in the list, heres the code
$('.source_delete').live('click', function(){ //Fade out delete button $('.source_delete').fadeOut(); //Show confirm button
[Code]....
I need the show and hide not to apply to all items in list, the issue is im aware you cannot use live and each together, is this correct?? how can I go about doing this?
So, I read about the new method of passing an object map containing element properties when creating a new jQuery object (as discussed at the bottom of this article). The article says that it supports ALL events, but only gives examples of simple events that require no parameters. I'm trying to implement a live event using the following and can't get it to work:
var link = $('<a />', { text: config.appendTextMore, href: "#",
could someone please point me in the right direction for creating an AJAX page that displays "live" data from a mysql database? I need the page to update its self every time data changes in a mysql table.
Is there any alternative way to disable elements in real time as .attr("disabled",true) or .attr("disabled","disabled") do not work in IE7, only with IE8 or FireFox 3?
Firstly, I am aware of all the issues that are introduced with frame pages - this was not my decision - it is just what I have to work with...
I have a frame page that looks like this ------------------- | topFrame | ------------------- | navFrame | ------------------- | ContentsFrame | |------------------
Within the contents frame I have a NEW FRAME set which looks like this -------------------- | | | |treeFrm | frmDisp | | | | --------------------
I know that this is awful. I have a link in the contentsFrame. When I move over that link, I need to get a layer that already exists in the frmDisplay to become visible..
IOW, why are there 0 elements named div at the time the <body> element's onload handler is invoked? When can I retrieve this named div from the document hierarchy?
This exercise is necessary since code I have written using the DOM (that works) has to run on God-forsaken browsers such as IE 5.1 for Mac whose support for the DOM is spotty at best.
I'm creating a invoice application. In the JSP page user has an option to enter more than one location for each contract. I have created the JSP page. I face problem in calculating the total for the newlocation if user has added a new one. I'm posing my Invoice.jsp page below. Code:
The iframe has a bunch of <span> elements in it. I need to access the innerHTML of the spans, to check for data and use the data elsewhere. Each span has an unique ID assigned to it. What would be the syntax to read this information? I've tried all sorts of document.frames["search_frame"].getElementById("ID").innerHTML variations to no avail.
However, I'm still wondering about my actual problem, which is that I need to initialize some arrays of named elements when the document is loaded so they can be used by other functions used as event handlers. What I have now is that every function that requires these arrays checks to see whether they have been initialized, and if not initializes them. That seems to be a fairly ugly hack, and I'd like to use a better way if it exists. Does that make sense?
I'm trying to write a script for a website that reads from a database and makes a separate table for each entry in the database. Since the number of entries can change, I want to dynamically create a div for each one, which I can later hide or display based on user selection. However, when I try to access the dynamically created elements by their ID, they return null. Is what I'm trying to do here actually possible?
for(var i = 0; i < tables.length; i ++) { var newDiv = document.createElement("div"); newDiv.setAttribute("id", tables[i].name); newDiv.setAttribute("name", tables[i].name); newDiv.setAttribute("class", "hidden");
I have 4 checkboxes in my form and wanna change the number (to be displayed) according to the selection made on the ListBox Menu
HTML PART of the code
<select name= "rights" onChange="chk_Count(this);"> <option value = 0 > Admin </option> <option value = 1> guest </option> </select>
<input type= "checkbox" name = "add" value = "on"> <input type= "checkbox" name = "edit" value = "on"> <input type= "checkbox" name = "delete" value = "on"> <input type= "checkbox" name = "view" value = "on">
I want that when I select Guest onle checkboxes for "ADD" n "VIEW" should be shown and when Admin is selected all four. but I am able to find out how to access those elements in the form and change their properties.
I have a problem in accessing all elements with a common id name in ExtJs. In fact, I have a couple of divs with id like:divmic+a number.
That is the code:
Code: <div id="slideshow" > <% for i=0 to 660/23 for j=0 to 380/23 Response.Write "<div id=divmic" & i & j & "
[Code]...
If I try this code, what is inside of "each" instruction works, but if I want to access all those elements having id starts with "divmic", it doesn' work. Why it's happen that think and how to put all those elements into an array, in ExtJs ?
I'm having trouble accessing some Elements with jQuery after I created them and added them to the HTML. I want to add some Checkboxes to my Site as soon as the user clicks another Checkbox. That works just fine. But if the user clicks on one of these added checkboxes, i want an event to trigger, too. For starters, i just want to alert a message. But this doesnt happen.So, now I think the Elements are added properly to DOM tree. But still, when I click on one of the added input Elements, nothing happens.What am I doing wrong? How can i get jQuery to recognize the Elements I added?
document.createElement('span') Because I'm trying to attach a stylesheet using jQuery. So far all I've found is the add() method, so I've put this together: $(document).ready(function() { $('head').add('link').attr('type', 'text/css', 'href', 'script/fancybox/jquery.fancybox-1.3.1.css', 'media', 'screen'); })
But the element will not get added, I presume it's meant to go before the ending '</head>' tag?
Is it possible with JavaScript to create new form elements on a webpage that has already loaded in the browser? For example, what I am hoping to do is have a text field for a name and a link that lets them add another text field for another name etc. I believe I can do this on a DIV but haven't looked at coding it yet. Any thoughts, pointers etc?
Code: <script type="text/javscript" src="jquery-1.3.2.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- function doItAll(){ var a_p = ""; var d = new Date(); [Code]...
I have a main window in which there is a link opening popup. In newly opened window there are links that allow to insert some HTML with form elements ( button) in the parent window document. The problem is when user closes popup window the added button is inactive (action assigned to it doesnt work) What is more the problem exists in IE, in FF code works quite well.The code inserting new elements to parent window is below.[code]
I have form that asks a simple question: "How many XYZs do you want to create?" Then, for every XYZ, it should create several new labels/inputs in the form.
That is, every XYZ looks like this: <div id="xyz"> <label>Whatever</label> <input> blah blah blah </input </div>
I looked into .each() and .live(), but I can't wrap my mind around how to do this.
I'm working on an app, which createsvisualizations based on SVG. I was using jQuery SVG by Keith Wood at first [URL], but at some point I've noticed that it's very inconvenient for some stuff and wrote my own functions to handle everything. One of the quirks when creating svg trees dynamically is that you have to create all elements and set attributes using the SVG namespace ("[URL]"), otherwise they aren't rendered correctly by browsers.
Here's an example of how you create a text element... var svgns = "[URL]"; var newText = document.createElementNS(svgns,'text'); newText.setAttributeNS(null,"x","0"); newText.setAttributeNS(null,"y","0"); $(newText).text("some text"); $(svgGroup).append(newText);
There doesn't seem to be a way to do that more effectively using jQuery. For instance, you can't use attr to set multiple attributes, since it won't use setAttributeNS.
