Javascript Onclick Event On Submit Button

Oct 6, 2005

I created a "cancel" button for my form at the clients' request, I
accidentally copied a submit button and added an OnClick event- a very
simple javascript.history function. It did not appear to work at all-
it kept submitting the form. I changed the submit button to a plain
old button and it worked fine.

Can anyone explain how the browser works with a javascript onClick
event ona submit button? Does it automatically submit the form no
matter what onClick event you use?

Calling OnClick Event From HTML Form Button?

May 6, 2009

I'm having some issues with my HTML/Javascript page. This is my code:

<script language="JavaScript">
function testaResultado (form) {
var resposta = form.txtResposta.value;
if (resposta.toUpperCase() == "GOOGLE") {

[Code]....

When I type "google" on txtResposta (text object) and click on btnOK button, the pagina.html page is showed, ok. But if I press the [ENTER] key instead of clicking on btnOK button, the page is reloaded and pagina.html is not showed.

Changing Submit Button On A Form To Custom Image?

Mar 16, 2010

I'm adding a Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online form to a webpage. It looks like pretty standard html and Javascript. The Microsoft website creates the code automatically and it provides the html code snippet. I provides a standard dull grey button. I'm simply trying to change the standard grey button to a nice looking orange image.

I have the form looking great...only problem is that it doesn't work. I tried it with the standard button and it works fine. When I try to substitute the image, CRM doesn't get the submitted form information. Here is the applicable part of the code:

<input type="hidden" id="dl_qs" name="dl_qs" />
<input type="hidden" id="dl_r" name="dl_r" />
<input type="submit" onclick="document.getElementById('dl_leadForm').dl_qs.value =

[code]....

I tried this, but it didn't work:

<input type="image" src="images/contact-us-button.gif" value="Submit" border="0" <onclick="document.getElementById('dl_leadForm').dl_qs.value = window.location.search;document.getElementById('dl_leadForm').dl_r.value = document.referrer;" value="Submit" >
</form>

I would like to keep any validation built into the form. I'm very new to Javascript, so it's probably something obvious to pros.

Submit Form With Image Button Returns Nothing If Using <space> Or <enter>

Jul 9, 2007

My form isn't returning any results when submitting the form if the user hits the <spacebar> or the <enter> key on the keyboard when tabbed over the image submit button.

<input name="Submit_notes" type="image" value="Submit_notes" src="images/pp_but_blu_addentry.gif" />

Should I make it so the user can't submit with the keyboard? (if so how) or is there another way?

Onclick Event On Submit In Ie7?

Feb 1, 2010

I have the following HTML code:

<form>
<label for="searchtxt">Find a Question...</label>
<input type="text" name="searchtxt" id="searchtxt" maxlength="200" size="92" />
<input type="submit" id="searchsbmt" name="searchsbmt" value="Search"

[Code]...

the function getquestions is sending some variables via ajax and returning to populate a div. when it finishes, it returns false.

This works as intended in firefox when click on hitting enter, but in ie7 it submits the form on hitting enter.

I have other forms like this working as intended in ie7 so am really confused as to what i've done wrong!

Why won't it return false on hitting enter in ie7?

JQuery :: Submit And Reloading Form Values After Submit Button Is Clicked?

Jul 13, 2011

In the following .submit function, I am attempting to grab the value of the selected option in the facilityCodes dropdown list when I click the submit button and then during the submit function,select the facilityCode again in the dropdown list when the page reloads and then disable the list so that the user cannot change it.However,the situation is when I reload the page after the submit button is clicked the dropdown defaults to the first option and the list is enabled.I apparently am not understanding how.submit works so that I'm selecting the option I'm defining in my code below and then disabling the list AFTER the page reloads due to an error on the page. My question is how can I accomplish this?Here is my code:

This script disables it onclick, the problem is I can't figure out how to get it to submit the form as well.I have found it does submit if the input type is 'submit', but then it doesn't call the disable function. I tried writing another function to submit the form but no go.[code]

Submit Two Html Forms With One Script Onclick Event With Chrome?

Apr 14, 2011

I have a web page with two forms, when I click the button on one of the forms, the onclick event goes to a javascript that emails the first form and then the second form. This is correct, this is the way I want this to work. It's simple, it's easy, it works!

However, it only works in FireFox and Internet Explorer, it will not work in Google Chrome browser.

I've spent many hours trying lots of various ways to implement this so I'm not interested in speculating about possible solutions that might work, I've already tried too many of those.

Also, it needs to work this way, not combining the forms, etc.

Does anyone have any tried and tested solutions that work with Chrome? code...

Code:
What I've tried so far is like this:

document.inputs.submit = savedSubmit;

Button OnClick Event Does Not Work?

Sep 21, 2010

I have identical code in my index that works, so I'm just guessing the error is somewhere else, I know IE is not the best target to aim for - but I really want this to work in the windows default browser....

Here is the php page...
<HTML>
<HEAD>
<TITLE>[code]....
and here is the javascript that works in the index but not here...
function Abort()
{
document.location="AddFamilyMember.php";
};

When I load the page everything looks ok, but click on the abort button, and all that happens is that the little error symbol pops in the lower left of IE. The names of the two files are "AddFamilyMember.php" and "AddFamilyMember.js".
