Update Value Of Hidden Input Element On Textarea OnChange?
Dec 5, 2009
I have an idea for a little script.....I'm just stuck on one little part: When a user changes the value in a input or textarea box, I want it to change the value of a certain hidden input tag too.
Here's what I have so far:
function getNewValue(inputhidden, textinput) {
var data = document.getElementById(inputhidden);
var text = document.getElementById(textinput);
data.value = text.value;
I've got a select box that, when you choose any option besides #5, it changes the value of a related input box from 0 to 1. This works great except when I hide() the div that wraps this input box. My overall goal is to have the input (and surrounding div) hidden via hide(), and then update this input box when a select is changed.
Here is my code: $(document).ready(function(){ $("div#edit-qty-56-wrapper").hide(); function enterQty() { var attrValue = $( "select#edit-attributes-56-1" ).val(); if (attrValue !== '5') { $("input#edit-qty-56").val('1'); } else { $("input#edit-qty-56").val('0'); }} $("select#edit-attributes-56-1" ).change(enterQty); enterQty(); });
I'm using Javascript to create some dynamic content on my website. Basically it's looping through some values and updating an input field with the values.
What I'm wondering is, do I have to do this using a form and an input field? Is there a way I can get Javascript to update the content inside a DIV for example?
I have a PHP page that generates a list box with several options in it.
I would like to have a "view" link next to the list box. When the user changes the contents of the list box, I would like the view link to update to point to the image representing that selection. So for example, if the list box held names of images I would want the view link to always point at the correct image.
To further complicate this matter, the selections of the listbox are in PHP variables.
I basically have little to no experience with javascript and could use some guidance in figuring this out.
Specifically, assume I have a div tag of absolute dimensions. I need to figure out, first, whether or not the text inside the div tag is partially hidden by the overflow setting, and if so, what the hidden text is.
Is this even possible? Obviously, the rendering engine in the browser "knows" this information, but is it accessible through Javascript?
I have a php function that displays a dropdown menu of values pulled from a mysql database. I want the selected menu item to be inserted into the 2 text areas automatically. Now, if I use a <a href tag it works fine but if I have it in a dropdown, it doesnt Code:
I'm trying to update a textarea's value with Javascript. The code is similar to:
console.warn("Before set, value is " + document.getElementById('myTextArea').value); document.getElementById('myTextArea').value = 'OMGWTFBBQ'; console.warn("After set, value is " + document.getElementById('myTextArea').value);
Although the Firefox and Chrome consoles show that the value property is updated, this is not reflected in the page itself.The specific function is invoked from an onfocus handler of another element. The textarea itself is lazily initialised from the same method, by using:
var messageText = document.createElement('textarea'); messageText.id = 'myTextArea'; someParent.appendChild(messageText);
Obviously if I use the console rather than let the script run it does work.
I have a page with 2 forms on, namely form1 and form2!!
In form1 there is a listbox with a drop down of IDs. Now if the user selects a different ID in that list, form2 hidden variable (qualstatus) needs to be updated with the new ID which was selected in form1. I have tried the following.
function changequal() { document.form2.qualstatus.value = document.form1.qualstatus.value }
i have a select box, when user select value other than 'H' then the hidden <DIV> element will showed up, and when user select value 'H' the <DIV> element will hide again
the code is like this :
HTML Code: <select name="show_status"> <option value="H">Is Hidden</option> <option value="S">Show me the DIV</option>
I am very new to jquery and I am trying to set the value of a textarea which is not in a form, into a hidden field which is in a form. In the text area, I have given it an id called refnote and ive used the text() to get the text in it. However, the problem is setting the retrieved text in a hidden form field. $('form').submit(function(){ alert ($('#refnotes').text()); return false; });
I want to create a javascript function where I have a dropdown list and onChage I want to update a txt field with the current date in the dd/mm/yyyy format.
I'm having problems. I am collecting data from an XML file and serving it up to a web page. Here's the code.
The thing is, I have taken a Submit button away and want the data to appear as the user types. I tried using onChange event handler but it only works when I click the mouse away from the input box, like an onBlur() event. Code:
Is possible to have two onChanges inside one input? I would like to put into the following code extra action which is "onChange remove #uploadbottom". Please tell me what would be correct syntax to put that action into the following code:
I have a site that writes a checkout table/cart from one window to another. Just to be current I've decided to allow the customer to change the quantity of the item ordered by putting an input type text in each rows 'quantity' column. The idea is that they can change the number of that rows particular item they wish to order. The onchange of the input element should multiply the new 'quantity' value by the 'cost' innerHTML of the cost column and then set the 'subtotal' innerHTML in the footer row to match. An 'onmouseover' changes the 'rowsubtotal' to match the footer 'subtotal' innerHTML. Unfortunatley the 'qtymultipl()' function called by input onchange only results with 'onmouseover' changing the 'rowsubtotal' and footer 'subtotal' to 0.00.
I have two input fields and I want the second updated every time I change a value in the first. I wrote this function but it doesn't work until the first element lost focus (for example I clic anywhere or press TAB button)
I'm trying to append an onChange attribute to an element created through javascript. The following doesn't work. The select is created and has the proper name and id but no onChange..
var sel = document.createElement('select'); sel.name = 'size[' + i + ']'; sel.id = 'size[' + i + ']'; sel.onchange = "changeMini();";
I have a small HTML form that has a textfeild which when clicked on open a calender, this works fine. I also want to display the selected date in another textfeild using "OnChange". This is what I am working with:
