I'm creating a page that calculates a number depending on what value is inputted into a text field. I need to create some javascript that updates this new calculated value and outputs it next to the input field. Anytime the user changes the number, it recalculates the value. My calculation is currently being produced by PHP, however if I need to, I can create javascript as well to recalculate these numbers.
View 4 RepliesI want to run a function when text is typed into an input field. So every time 1 character is put in it will process a function. However I do not know how to accomplish this. I tried the onchange attributed but that seems to only work when you unselect the input field.
how this might be accomplished? I'm also comfortable with jQuery if you think that's a better option.

I have a script that allows ONLY numbers to be typed into a text field. I have tried to modify this script to allow Decimals (periods) to be typed as well, but haven't succeeded. The code in Red are the changes I added to this script, but it isn't working out.

Second Problem: I need to set a Minimum number users may type in the text field. Normally this would be a simple task, but the minimum number they may type is a decimal (0.10). The default value in the field is .50. I tried replacing the .50 with .09, and I can't get the field to run the script and set its new value to .10 (<- this is the minimum). I created a simple shopping cart using php and the PayPal buttons (1: buy now, 2: add to cart). The php back end does it great, it generates the table and the buttons and everything works just like it’s supposed to; Except, I forgot to add sizes. So I found out what I need to add, and I realize that the way the buttons work, I will have two different text boxes for size. Not very visually appealing, and since I’m not submitting this to the server before it goes to PayPal to pay, I cannot modify it with php the way I normally would. jQuery / javascript are my only hope of making this work. What I want to do:Have a single textbox where [size] is entered by the user.

I got this far, and then decided to find how to insert the "enteredVALUE" into the right place in the input text field (what I called output) and I've not been able to figure out how to stuff it in there.

Environment is PHP - MYSQL When the user changes the value of a select drop-down, I want to use Ajax and query one table of my database, retrieve three pieces of data, and place the data in three separate text fields in my form. Is there a simple tutorial out there that explains this?
I get the general concept of the separate php file for the query, but I'm pretty much lost.
when the user types a FIRST NAME into the first name textbox this should update the paxname with the value and a space.when the user types a LAST NAME into the last name textbox this should update the paxname with the value therefore at the end of the process the paxname will have the full name of the person in order with spaces in between. also i would like the first name and last name values to be changed to proper case ie John Smith once placed into paxname the update process does not have to be instantaneous, it can perhaps update the paxname textbox when the focus is gone from the field in question, dont mind how it works as long as it updates.

im trying to implement a login screen similar to Facebook. What i mean by this is i want the username and password fields to have text in them until the user selects the textfield. If the user does not type anything in the textfield the the onblur will automatically change it back, but if the user has typed something in then i want the text to be left alone.At the moment the onblur always changes the value of the textfield. Im not sure how to solve this.(code i am using is below)

I want a script that "types" my text letter by letter and also deletes the text letter by letter. I want it to look as if someone is typing the text live, and then when the start of the text deletes (letter by letter), it would start from the beginning, erasing the letters in the same pace new letters are being "typed". So this way you would never see the whole text, but only a bit of it at a time. By the time you would get to the end of the text, the beginning wouldn't be there. And I don't want the text in a box!

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy database saves the cars make and model to the row in the database. On the "Add a Job" page, you have to enter the make and model of the car in by hand. I'm looking for a way to have these in a dropdown list, but if the make/model isn't in the list to be able to add it manually.
I can get the makes and models form the database and get them to fill a dropdown list, but then there isn't any provision for entering a make/model manually without going into PHPMyAdmin.
i figured this would probably be best done in JavaScript, but can't find any info on scriptsearch, hotscripts, etc
I'm now working on kind of invoice form which in it the user can add as much input field as he wants.
The problem is that after adding a new input field - the content in the other fields is deleted.
