JQuery :: Cascade Update Of Input Text Boxes?
Apr 14, 2011
I have 3 input text elements:
<html>
<head>
<title></title>
<script type="text/javascript" src="../lib/jquery/jquery.js"></script>
[Code].....
When user inputs text to "text1" I want to reflect changes in "text2". When value is changed in "text2" I want to change value in "text3". So I handle keyup event in "text1" and then successfully update "text2". But which event need to be handled when value of "text2" is changed?
Important remarks:1. I don't want to update "text3" from "text1".keyup event. My goal is to handle some event when value in "text2" is changed(may be by user or may be by code)2. "text3" needs to be changed immediately after "text2".value changed

I have a form where a user enters a number in a text box (txtTickets). When that number is entered, I need to create an equal number of select boxes. I've found code examples which show how to dynamically add or delete options from a select box, but I have found no examples which deal with this specific scenario. The select options do not depend on user input -- that is, I do not need to populate it dynamically. I need to create them dynamically. Has anyone created something similar to this?

I have an in-house web application in which the user inputs items to a text field. Over 80% of all data entered into the field falls is one of three values, the other 20% is random. Can I make a select field that lets the user override the values with one of his own, or equally, create a textbox with a dropdown menu to select from?
The goal is to get the behavious of a web browser's address bar: the same control could accept random input, but also make suggestions in a pre-populated dropdown list.
Ideally, the control would work with and without the mouse, as the users are not confined to any single platform and we have Linux and Windows users as well.
I am not sure if this should be under JavaScript or CSS as the solution probably depends on both technologies.

I have a requirement where i need to take an IPv4 address as an input, my web page has 4 text boxes. If i have a address like this 255.255.255.255, my program jumps into the next text box without any problem as soon as i enter the 3 digits. i dont need to press any tab or any other key to go to next text box.
In case of an address like 12.24.12.3, i have to press <tab> to jump into the next text box, My project requirement says that it should work with '.' (dot) char as well.
SO here is my actual requirement i need to jump into the next text box as soon as user enters a dot (.) char without displaying the dot into the text box.

I've been playing around with a madlibs exercise while trying to learn simple javascript. I have three input boxes and a button display an alert containing the input from the boxes.
Am I right to be assigning variable names to the values from the text boxes and then referencing those variables in my alert?
I've been working on it for hours and can't get past this point.
Inset a name:
<input type="text" id="textbox1" size="10"/>
</br>
Insert a verb :

I'm creating a page that calculates a number depending on what value is inputted into a text field. I need to create some javascript that updates this new calculated value and outputs it next to the input field. Anytime the user changes the number, it recalculates the value. My calculation is currently being produced by PHP, however if I need to, I can create javascript as well to recalculate these numbers.

I have a table (not in a form) that has several input text boxes. I want to have a reset button that acts like the form RESET button. I thought I would use the following jQuery method:
Here's my reset button code:
Here's one of my table input lines:
I thought this would be simple, but I can't seem to figure out how to target the text that the user types into an input field before he/she decides to "reset" and start over.
I'm thinking that my problem is that I can't find the correct syntax for my line: $('input.firstname').value('')

I am trying to update all Select boxes on a page dynamically using
javascript, I simple want to change the selected item in each select
box when a tick box is pressed on the page. Each Select box is named
in the same convention ie. ddl_DeliveryStatus_ and then the recordID
and contains the same options in the same order. The number of select
boxes changes every time the page is loaded as this is all built using
ASP linked to a database.
I am hoping there is an array or collection or something similar I can
simply reference to do this, but an struggling to find the answer.

I have a problem created by my complete [rookie] status – only second time venturing into jQuery. I created a simple shopping cart using php and the PayPal buttons (1: buy now, 2: add to cart). The php back end does it great, it generates the table and the buttons and everything works just like it’s supposed to; Except, I forgot to add sizes. So I found out what I need to add, and I realize that the way the buttons work, I will have two different text boxes for size. Not very visually appealing, and since I’m not submitting this to the server before it goes to PayPal to pay, I cannot modify it with php the way I normally would. jQuery / javascript are my only hope of making this work. What I want to do:Have a single textbox where [size] is entered by the user.
Copy the value from the [correct] text box to the Value=”” section of the now hidden field in the PayPal form That way, no matter whether they [BUY NOW] or [ADD to CART] the right size is submitted to the PayPal shopping cart. This is the actual PayPal code that I’m trying to change
<table>
<tr>
<td>
<input type="hidden" name="on1" value="Size" maxlength="200">Size</td>
[code].....
I got this far, and then decided to find how to insert the "enteredVALUE" into the right place in the input text field (what I called output) and I've not been able to figure out how to stuff it in there.

I've got a select box that, when you choose any option besides #5, it changes the value of a related input box from 0 to 1. This works great except when I hide() the div that wraps this input box. My overall goal is to have the input (and surrounding div) hidden via hide(), and then update this input box when a select is changed.
Here is my code:
$(document).ready(function(){
$("div#edit-qty-56-wrapper").hide();
function enterQty() {
var attrValue = $( "select#edit-attributes-56-1" ).val();
if (attrValue !== '5') {
$("input#edit-qty-56").val('1');
} else {
$("input#edit-qty-56").val('0');
}}
$("select#edit-attributes-56-1" ).change(enterQty);
enterQty();
});

I've got a slider in jquery and I want it to populate an input box with a value as it is slid. I also want the user to be able to enter a value into the input box and for the slider handle to move to the appropriate position.
I've found an example of the bare-bones slider in the jquery docs and some basic documentation, but I've no idea how to get it to do what I need, and can't find any simple, fully featured examples anywhere which do what I need.
Code:
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#example").slider();

so, the pseudo code: - on change of input contents, check to see if two input fields are set - if set, update a third field with "loading..." text and a loading gif - use ajax to send data to a url, and get a calculated json response - update the third field with the calculated response
I know I'm getting the correct response, according to firebug: {"pace":"10:00"}
the code:
$('#run_distance').change(function() {
if ($(this).val() != '' && $('#run_time').val() != '')
{
$('#run_pace').val('Calculating Pace…');
[Code].....
how to update the #run_pace input field with the json response.

I am using the Cascade plugin [URL]. I have been searching for a while and haven't found a solution to this yet. I am trying to set the initial selected option when the page loads.
My code:
jQuery(document).ready(function()
{
jQuery("#child1").cascade("#parent1",{
list: items,

Is there a second parameter I can pass to the trigger with the option value I want to be selected? Something like:
jQuery("#child1").trigger("cascade", "508");

if I use abc.innerHTML, I won't get the new value for the text field (if changed by the user). What would be the best way to accomplish fetching the new value to "properly" copy the HTML?

I am looking to make a page with a display on it using input boxes, but I want the input boxes to get some of the values from an array I enter at the beginning. To start with I am only entering 2 items, as it will make it easier until I have it all up and running. I have no problems getting a table to come up, with a label and then an input box beside it. I can even prompt the user for the number of input boxes they require. I also can make it so that the input box is disabled, so that the user cannot change the contents of it. But, I am totally stuck as to how to get this how I want it...
I am wanting labels at the top of each row, not the left hand side, and I am wanting rows of 3 input boxes, with the first 2 containing the text from my array, which is what I'm wanting ti be the disabled boxes. Basically I am starting a very simple page for an online order facility.
This is the code I have been working on, I have totally messed it up by now trying different things but it will give an idea of what I have been attempting I figured lol. I have got it to have 6 empty input boxes all on top of each other, but I realised after that if i set all the values etc in the table, then im not getting the array to define the contents :S and, they are still all on top of each other which i dont want... And my attempts at getting the array to define the number of input boxes has so far been futile. I end up with a blank page, just a button. just getting frustrated lol.

I am new to jquery and I need to make a form that allows a user to select a state and a city that they go to school in. I am using the cascade juqery plug-in [url].
Which I think is a great plugin) The problem is there is a lot of data and it takes a long time for it all to load (some 28,000 records).
What I want to do is split it up into different files and then load only the file that contains the data for that start/region.
A sample of my code is blow:

Environment is PHP - MYSQL When the user changes the value of a select drop-down, I want to use Ajax and query one table of my database, retrieve three pieces of data, and place the data in three separate text fields in my form. Is there a simple tutorial out there that explains this?
I get the general concept of the separate php file for the query, but I'm pretty much lost.

Is there a plugin that will do this? Or does anyone have an idea about how to implement something like this? The idea is for a sign company to have customers customize the text for their signs. They want to allow users to input text and have it update the sign image live with the text and resize it if the text string get's too long.
