I'm trying to validate the text of an input as it is typed.I have this keyup:[code]The idea is that only let the user type a decimal number; and it does. The only problem is that it let type a dot [decimal separator I need] at the beginning; and I don't want that.I've been a while and searched Google for the Reg Exp, but had no luck.
I want to run a function when text is typed into an input field. So every time 1 character is put in it will process a function. However I do not know how to accomplish this. I tried the onchange attributed but that seems to only work when you unselect the input field.
how this might be accomplished? I'm also comfortable with jQuery if you think that's a better option.
I'm creating a page that calculates a number depending on what value is inputted into a text field. I need to create some javascript that updates this new calculated value and outputs it next to the input field. Anytime the user changes the number, it recalculates the value. My calculation is currently being produced by PHP, however if I need to, I can create javascript as well to recalculate these numbers.
My workplace has a lot of people doing manual entry. I'm looking to provide some friendly automatic formatting of data as they type it. I have working code (thus far) but I want to ensure I'm doing things in a sane way (there's a surprising amount you can do insanely that still works Here's a function below that transforms a phone number - the worker enters the digits(only), the field reflects (and could also accept) the fully formatted version (e.g. (123) 456-7890 ). I'm building this towards a plugin model (ala masked input with happy
I have searched the internet and couldn't find a problem regarding this issue. The thing I want to do is simply validate a text input so when you enter a number in it, it won't validate and give you an error message. This is the code:
using jQuery, how to validate a required input text before submitting or placing the cursor in another field? I've tried this below but it doesn't work.
I have an input text with value=Lois so I want to validate this input. If some user enter another word different of Lois will give an alert, and if in the field one writes the word Lois (without importing capital letters or minuscule) the form can be executed in correct form.
im trying to implement a login screen similar to Facebook. What i mean by this is i want the username and password fields to have text in them until the user selects the textfield. If the user does not type anything in the textfield the the onblur will automatically change it back, but if the user has typed something in then i want the text to be left alone. At the moment the onblur always changes the value of the textfield. Im not sure how to solve this.(code i am using is below)
I want a script that "types" my text letter by letter and also deletes the text letter by letter. I want it to look as if someone is typing the text live, and then when the start of the text deletes (letter by letter), it would start from the beginning, erasing the letters in the same pace new letters are being "typed". So this way you would never see the whole text, but only a bit of it at a time. By the time you would get to the end of the text, the beginning wouldn't be there. And I don't want the text in a box!
I have a script that allows ONLY numbers to be typed into a text field. I have tried to modify this script to allow Decimals (periods) to be typed as well, but haven't succeeded. The code in Red are the changes I added to this script, but it isn't working out.
Second Problem: I need to set a Minimum number users may type in the text field. Normally this would be a simple task, but the minimum number they may type is a decimal (0.10). The default value in the field is .50. I tried replacing the .50 with .09, and I can't get the field to run the script and set its new value to .10 (<- this is the minimum). Here is the code I am working with.
I've a text box and a database table entry corresponding to the element. Now, I want to show suggestions as users keep on typing in the text box, the matching words from the database, similar to displaying friends as in facebook search.
I have a problem created by my complete [rookie] status – only second time venturing into jQuery. I created a simple shopping cart using php and the PayPal buttons (1: buy now, 2: add to cart). The php back end does it great, it generates the table and the buttons and everything works just like it’s supposed to; Except, I forgot to add sizes. So I found out what I need to add, and I realize that the way the buttons work, I will have two different text boxes for size. Not very visually appealing, and since I’m not submitting this to the server before it goes to PayPal to pay, I cannot modify it with php the way I normally would. jQuery / javascript are my only hope of making this work. What I want to do:Have a single textbox where [size] is entered by the user.
Copy the value from the [correct] text box to the Value=”” section of the now hidden field in the PayPal form That way, no matter whether they [BUY NOW] or [ADD to CART] the right size is submitted to the PayPal shopping cart. This is the actual PayPal code that I’m trying to change
I got this far, and then decided to find how to insert the "enteredVALUE" into the right place in the input text field (what I called output) and I've not been able to figure out how to stuff it in there.
I'm using Validate plugin and have City field with default value "Start typing your city...", which is apparently not empty. So the task is pretty simple: I need also check City field to be NOT equal to that default value.
I am using jquery.validate.js. I am having 2 input fields. The condition is the second input value should not be less than first input value. The second condition is the first input value should not be greater than 2nd value. I tried with different options but it didnt work. Is there any jquery function for this validation? Or pl
Im new to jquery so bare over with me :) I have a form, and when the user clicks the submit button, I want jquery to first validate a date field for its format. The format has to be like this: dd-mm-yyyy. So a date of 30-30-3000 would also be valid.
I am using the jquery plugin and want the validation to upload only extension .doc but it does not validates the HTML5 input file when the name has brackets.[code]
How can I validate a field before calling the auto complete on userinput. Is there any a way to configure a pre condition for a autocompletion. I want the send the validated input to auto complete qfield.I have configured both validation and auto complete for the'firstName' field. When I start typing some specialcharacters, validation method validates and returns error message and in betweenauto complete sends the request to server. But I want the validatemethod to execute first and then auto complete should send the requestto server if the data is valid.
the validate plugin at the form at the below URL is validating as true as long as the first required input is valid even though subsequent required fields are invalid. It even gives the invalid class to all fields correctly but the submitHandler function is triggered anyway. I have an alert trigger when the form successfully submits and a little more output for firebug if you want it. [URL]
I use the Validation plugin [URL] and do like this: frmzip: { required: true, digits: true, remote: zip.php, },
I have two fields; zip and city, I validate zip with remote and it checks against a list if the zip is valid, but i want it too: Check if the zip is valid Return true if it is valid and return the city of the zip and paste it in the city-input... Of course I have a database/array/list with all zip and city's.
