I know this might sound weird, but I have a form where I ask the user to
enter their email address in one text box and then again in a confirm email
text box to make sure that they have entered it correctly.
My problem is that many users appear to type their email address in the
first box and then copy and paste it into the 2nd box.
If they typed it incorrectly the first time then all they have done is
confirmed that it is wrong.
Is there anyway that I can stop them pasting into the confirm email text box
so that they have to type it twice?
Im a bit curious about this Facebook's useful functionality. When I paste a URL on the 'What's on your mind?' box, it almost perfectly gets the body of the article. How does Facebook do this?
I have a number of pages that organize book data by category and then by unit, chapter, section, etc... Since there is a ton of data I display the headings and hide the rest of the content for the category. When a user clicks the heading then the content for the heading is shown underneath it. This works great and the users don't have to scroll (at least not much in comparison to if everything on the page was visible) unless for some reason they expand tons of stuff.
The problem:My company wants it so that if they expand a bunch of stuff and then browse to another page, that when they click the back button, everything should still be expanded as they left it. The issue is, this content is only available to logged in users and is based on their current location (which they can change at any point), so if their session expires or they logout, using the back button to get to these pages needs to redirect them to the login screen, if they change pages and change their location, going back to this page needs to display the correct content for their location. It is kind of a catch-22. Of course in the eyes of my company "shouldn't it just work that way?"
I am looking for good image editor for web developing. I use the microsoft word, to do some clip-arts, and fill color effects, copy and paste the image to paint-brush, and I see that paintbrush doesn't show the image at the same quality it was copy from.
I just need to make images files that has some clip arts, and filling colors effects.
i need to know what i need to do in javascript to be able to copy a whole row from an XLS and go to the webpage form and paste all of the clipboard data into the appropriate textboxes... any ideas?
At the moment, if I don't specifically click into the iFrame (it is in design mode) then when I paste the HTML it attaches itself to the main document rather than in the iframe 'body'.
My JS function at the moment is simply:
function doTable(tabledata) { if(tabledata != '') iHTMLeditor.document.selection.createRange().paste HTML(tabledata); }
but I think I need an extra line above the iHTMLEditor (my iframe's ID) bit to make sure it goes in there.
Alright, I'm using a Rooh.It WordPress plugin right now, but I don't like the way they do it, so I want to write my own code to do something similar.
I want the user to be able to select the text they want to highlight, and the background color of that text changes to whatever color they have selected.
There is a Text Area that user can enter text. assume that user enter something and put a dot Following values should be populate in a drop down at the place where dot locate .
like when we get the string object using Net Beans IDE and when we put "Object." , drop down will be displayed with available methods for that particular object. idea is to build a editor using java script.
I need a checkbox for an item, when the checkbox is true the user can enter text in a text box, only if the checkbox is ticked.I have numerous items I need for this.
I have a text area, I want that user's should not be able to enter a charaters in it. I want them to enter only numbers.I have written the code below to do this but it is not working as I think I am not calling the function right way.I am open to new suggestions as well, if I can show some alert to user if they enter character rather than no.
My script is used to check some text field before the user upload some text, below you can see the code:
[Code]...
(i guess something is wrong since internet explorer works and chrome/firefox not) I also forgot to mention that the script works just fine when i am testing the webpage on my pc, the problem is when i used the webpage not locally but over the net, is there any setting should i change on my hosting server?
I just joined the forums (literally) and just started coding (mainly with CSS and HTML) about 3-4 weeks ago. I'd really like to get into JavaScript to make cool things happen on my website. With that being said, I've come up with a pretty cool idea but am not sure how to go about my problem.
Enough with the chit chat. What I'm trying to do is add text to a user's input. For instance, if they write "Hello", the function should automatically add "World" to the output. I'd ideally like for the output to be searched on Google (think search engine) with the results displayed on a new page.
I'm desinging a graphical interface and I frequently take advantage of the double click event. Unfortunately in most browsers double clicking also involves selecting and I would like to avoid that since whatever is selected has dark blue background and white letters what spoils the whole visual effect.... Any way I can block it por avoid it?
I want to make it so if i have several text boxes only one number can be entered once. So if i type the number 15 in the first text box and type 15 in the second text box an error will occur saying you cant enter the same number twice.
I'm working on an educational website for reading strategies where I would like to have the possibilty for the user to highlight text and the possibilty to check their highlighted answers.User task: Mark all the cause and effect connectors (because, so, therefore etc) in the text. Now I want the user to take the mouse and go over the text and mark all these connectors in the text. After marking the entire text the user will get feedback for his correct and incorrect answers and a possibilty to correct his mistakes. If the user marks in the sentence "He got hurt, because he fell of his bike." the word 'because' I would like somewhere else on the page be written that he did this correctly. If he would mark the word 'hurt' I would like the user to get a feedback saying that this answer is incorrect. Is this possible with simple html or do I need something else. If I need something else what do I need and maybe there is already a ready to use script for this.
What am I doing wrong here? I am trying to make it where the user can name the link whatever he/she wants.... I think it might be this part... links[i] = name.linkPosition.value; Where linkPosition is a variable.
I've wrote what (at least in my mind) and awsome report generator for a group who uses my server. The user gets all the data from the server via the server's normal reporting tools, and then sorts/shows/hides/formats columns using javascript/jquery (saves server cycles). There is only one slight problem (think "grand canyon" slight), once a user has a form he or she wants, then the user needs to save the tab separated value form of the report to disk.
I can output the TSV into a DIV (and probably an IFRAME I'm guessing), and do for display purposes. However, the users need to copy/paste at this point, which is rather user-unfriendly. Is there a way to either prompt a file download/save (without making a call to the server and wasting time), or opening up a new tab with just the desired text, so the user can save it?
EDIT: I'd rather not replace the whole page that generates the report, as the user probably doesn't want to lose his or her work in formatting setings, and my want to generate multiple reports from one dataset/query, without having to rewrite the query.
I'm working on a forum. What I desire is to let user customize his own test. To do that I have to retrieve the user selected text. That's my problem. I don't know a jquery function to do that
Basically I have an text field with an id of s_username As the user types I want to append this to a var so I can display what the user has entered at the side of the screen, I have been using this for select boxes:
