Status Bar Doesn't Finish / Resolve This?
Jul 23, 2009
ON my site, when viewed in IE7, the browser status bar never finishes loading....but it only does this in IE7. It also says things like (3 items remaining).
Is there a way to fix this so it finishes loading? Is something hanging up IE and not FF?

I'm new to javascript and html5.
I've been having problems with some simple(?) lines of code...
What I'm trying to do is to simply turn the canvas black and show a small gif on it. Upon executing initCnv(), the canvas turns black as it should, while the sprite image doesn't show up at all. I can't figure out what's going on, I scoured the code for syntax errors, even tried other image formats but to no avail. Image paths are also correct.

I'm trying to create a new portfolio website and I've setup the framework the way I'd like to have it. I have some slight animation through the use of jquery, but because I want to preserver that animation availability (on click) I'm needing to do the amateur thing and swap content out in a div - similar to if I were to use an iframe *shudders*.
When you come into the site, you click on a link, and the nav moves up, and the content window opens, displaying the content for the link selected. When you click on the other links, the content simply changes. This all works as of current. The problem is though, once that new content is loaded into the main content display div, the assigned js and/ or jquery does not work.
The page is live, and can be seen here if you click on the 'about' link, it shows the about page, but has all of the information expanded. If you look at the about page directly,[url] it has some light js that allows the headings of the resume to expand and contract - BUT it doesn't work when loaded into the content window. [code]...

I hope I post this in the right section.
I'm trying to do a redirect using the below code:
<script type="text/javascript">
window.location.href = "http://google.com"
</script>
FF and IE work as they should. Chrome doesn't.

Same code pasted within a local html file works fine.

I have a set of checkboxes that trigger events on a page. Clicking a checkbox triggers the event correctly and the checked attribute changes in the page source, but in the rendered browser view the checkbox status remains changed. If I load the page with the checkboxes checked, they always remain checked in the browser view. If I load the page with checkboxes unchecked, they always remain unchecked in the browser view.
If I remove the jquery code the checkboxes work as expected, but obviously don't trigger any events. I've tested this in both Safari and Firefox with the same results.

On another note, I'm having problems with the back button when using the forum. If I am looking through a multi-page search and click on a topic and then click the back button, I go to the first page of the search instead of the last page I was looking at. Similarly, when I first previewed this post and clicked "back" I was returned to the topic list instead of the compose-post page.

I've been trying to figure out for the past 4 hours why this JS pop up window function I wrote won't finish loading in Firefox. When you click the thumbnail image, it pops up a new window with the image enlarged. But for some reason, the Firefox page loading bar on the bottom right-hand side stops at about 25%, even after the image finishes loading. What is wrong with my code that I need to fix so the page shows that it loaded 100%?
Here is a link to the page: [URL]

Wrote this small function to animate a carousel:
$('div#left').click(function() {
// carousel position
var carouselPosition = $('div#carousel').position();[code]....
So what's happening is that I have a number of images (width: 321px) sitting next to each other in a wide div (div#carousel). When I click on div#left the whole thing moves... left. A similar function makes everything go right. As the number of images is finite, I have conditionals to stop when we get to either of the ends.This works fine except if someone clicks like crazy... animations get queued and the whole thing moves beyond the edges.I have tried to solve this with:
1. stop: great, except that the animation stops in mid-action and I end up with images parrtially in sight,
2. clearQueue: doesn't manage to stop too many animations getting triggered,
3. delay: fine with a long delay, but this is no good for my visitors.
Combinations of the above with different parameters didn't work either

I have a small application that tries to launch a slide show for a set of pictures (jpg). It is implemented by a timed ajax routine to get the next picture filename and updating the image src field to show the next picture. The problem is that the actual down load varies significantly in time, based mostly on a clients access speed and the resolution size of the picture. Since all this happens asynchronously, the delay time routine gets invoked and is exhausted before the download is completed in many cases. Is there any way to start the new src coming and then detecting/waiting when it is complete?

I have a problem with animation and I don't know how to solve it. It is a very easy think but I don't understand the behaviour. Let me explain: I have a loop with N iterations like this:
f
or(x=0;x<100;x++){
...
}
I have an HTML5 progress bar like this: <progress min="0" max="100" value="0" id="d2"></progress>
My target is do a task inside loop (using ajax) and update progress value every 10 loops. I add after loop an alert for debug purposes.so we have this:
for(x=0;x<100;x++){
if (x % 10){
$('#d2').animate({value:'+=[code].....
the result is the progress bar is updated with the desired animation but occurs after alert message.

I'm using this progress bar from http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamici...rogressbar.htm and I want to be able to display some text after the bar finishes loading.
I figured out out to get it to output the text, but it loads in a new page. I want to get it to load where the bar is located. Here's how I'm placing the code ...
That shows the bar in the middle of my table, when it finishes it just opens to a new page saying hello world at the top. Is there a way to get it to spit out hello world in place of the bar, or at least in that table?

I know for a fact that it is an object and I'm pretty sure that it isn't null. I will give you a link to the page that I'm troubleshooting even though it's embarrassingly ugly. Does anyone have
an idea of why it's not seeing the <select name=finish> on Line 183 in <Form Name="myform">?

I'm creating an AJAX user validation so that when a user types in a username, it checks it in the database to see if it exists. I want it to execute after the user finishes typing. I've tried using:
$("#username_field").keyup(function(){
which works, but I don't want a query executed every time the users presses a key. I was wondering if there was a better way to do it. Meaning I what the check to be preformed after the user finishes typing.

I am trying to do a setInterval to switch the background-image of a div. The switch will happen every second.
Here is the html code...
On firefox 6 and IE9, it switches just fine. On IE8 and Chrome it switches once and then stops.
Not sure why it is working in the newer browsers and not the older ones. I know there were some new javascript features added to the newer browsers, but i cant figure out where the error is occurring.

I am fairly new to javascript and am having trouble clearing a text field. I am making a "vending machine simulator" as an exercise. I have a button that is the coin return, and should clear the balance display. e.g the machine shows a balance of $2 inserted, the coin return button should clear it to 0.
I believe I have done everything correctly but get NaN as the output (a text field named "box1"). I believe it has something to do with how the field is validated. It has number precision set to 2, which I would think would just become 0.00 or something. Anyways, here is my code code...

I am really confused. I want to make a <p> tag hidden using javascript, and then, if i detect its running IE, i want to make it visible. I can't even make it hidden though. I have tried code... and I've tried both of these variations with the getElementById('warning') instead of plain old document.warning too. Nothing works. I've even tried setting display to none. What is going on?
