'document.myform.finish' Is Null Or Not An Object : Line 91, Char 2
Aug 31, 2005
I know for a fact that it is an object and I'm pretty sure that it isn't null. I will give you a link to the page that I'm troubleshooting even though it's embarrassingly ugly. Does anyone have
an idea of why it's not seeing the <select name=finish> on Line 183 in <Form Name="myform">?
I am using the following code to show/hide part of an html page. It works in Netscape and Firefox but dies in IE: "Error: document.layers is null or not an object"....
Please help me to get all characters from every line from a word-wrapped div using javascript.Need to get all the characters for first line, second line, third line,... separately from the word-wrapped div.
I'm trying to figure out this script doesn't display any text in the child window and why I'm getting the null or not an object error. It's taken directly from the Javascript and DHTML cookbook (not listed in the book errata on o'reilly website). Initially I get an error "window.dialogArguments.yourName" is null or not an object. Then I fill out the field on the form, press the button and the child window does display but there is no text inside the child window.
Questions: Should I be declaring an object that isn't currently declared like "window"? or is "window" a built in object that doesn't need declaring? do I need to assign the dialogDoc.html or "result" to "document" somehow? It looks like they have me putting a value in "result" then never actually using "result"... confused... Using ie 6.02800...Suggestions? gj
<html> <head> <title> Launch a Modal Dialog</title> <script type="text/javascript">
function openDialog(form){ var result = window.showModalDialog("dialogDoc.html", form, "dialogWidth:300px; dialogHeight:201px; center:yes"); } </script> </head> <body> <h1>Internet Explorer Modal Dialog Window</h1> <hr /> <form name="sample" action="#" onsubmit="return false"> Enter your name for the dialog box:<input name="yourName" type="text" /> <input type="button" value="Send to Dialog" onclick="openDialog(this.form)" /> </form> </body> </html>
I was using jquery-1.3.2.min.js to show a modal dialog on a button click event handler and this worked fine. The same did not work with jquery-1.4.2.min.js and yielded the following script error on my IE -8 broswer. Message: Exception thrown and not caught Line: 75 Char: 399
I have created a servlet that does nothing more than create a XML file.i have got some JQuery code that reloads the servlet to get the XML data.This works fine and i am able to load the data i want, the problem i have is that when the data is loaded to the jsp page it displays [object Document] in front of my output.
I have built a webshop system in JavaScript(school project)and if I run it , it refuses to work in chrome or internet explorer . In Firefox it works but I get node is null errors on line 343 . But I don't know why
I am trying to write a bunch of text onto a new document using document.write() and somehow need to format it to include line breaks.
For example: Code JavaScript: document.write(Line 1); document.write(Line 2);
I have tried including and it does not work. I have also tried document.writeln() and that also does not work. From what I have found on the Internet, one (if not both) of those methods should have worked.
I did find the javascript twice in my code, once in the header and once here, so i removed it from the header. I also changed to src to the full url. But i am still getting this and i dont know why. the file is located in the root directory. found a solution. basically Internet Explorer is crappy and doesnt like the setAttribute property so had to change the onchange handler by directly changing the attrbute for the object like so.object.onchange = function() {}i have no idea what they means, does that mean i need to change swfobject.js or does that mean i have to change my xml request. and if it is the swfobject i have no clue what they mean or what lines
I have come across an issue that only happens with IE.I have a custom save function that is designed to handle different ajax submits but I will simplify it for debugging. The issue is that once I make a submit everthing is fine at first. Then once I try to submit a second time it craps out. I am checking to see if there is an onsubmit function and then executing it like so before continuing. After the inital submit it is no longer found. When I alert the typeof document on the form it returns object but when I add the onsubmit it says object expected or object is null or undefined.
Code:
function secureBarSubmit(formId) { alert(typeof document.getElementById(formId)); // object always alert(typeof document.getElementById(formId).onsubmit); // func first time then it is broken
My code is in the attachment alex.txt.When i press the button for first time it gives me error: 'null' is null or not an object. But when i press it again or refresh the page and press the button it gives me the result that i expect.When i change the var pdbfile1,2,3 values(for example with 2x4n;3gis;1crn) and press the button again there is the error again and i have to refresh the page again.
Basically i'm trying to draw a box over an image which is turning out to be a nightmare. The problem i'm getting at the moment is that i'm creating a line with <div which works when it's not hidden but I need to be able to make it hidden so I can use layers to show all when it finished drawing to make it smoother. This is how some other scripts are doing it that i've seen. So i've got it drawing a line and I need getElementById to pick out the layer but it's only picking out NULL with the one i've got enabled below. I've tried the others but they just come out as errors. I need to get top2 which is the <div line to show itself but I can't seem to reference it by getElementById. I use linux mozilla so i need it working in mozilla as well as windows that's why i'm using getElementById. My code is below any ideas anyone?
i am getting this error Microsoft JScript runtime error: 'document.form1' is null or not an object in my aspx page i have a form with few controls and i ahave a image button instead of submit button
i have given the hyperlink with javaascript to the iamge button as <A href="javascript: submitform()"><img alt="test" src="Images/test.png" /></A>
I'm using the document.createElement method to add dynamic table and from elements to a page, but I'm running into a problem where I'm adding 2 objects to 1 cell. The two of them combined are not wider than the cell, but they won't display next to each other, they're always on their own lines and I can't figure out why...
HTML Code: var hiddenElement = document.createElement('input'); hiddenElement.setAttribute('type', 'text'); hiddenElement.style.cssText = 'width: 100%; display: none;';
[Code]....
The text input (hiddenElement) should fill 1 line of the cell, but then the two buttons (createButton and cancelButton) should both sit on the line below it, but the cancelButton insists on siting on it's own line below the creatButton, and I can't figure out why.
(I know they have their display set to none, that's being set to block by a function, which is how I know they're all on their own line)
