{
document.pie_chart.src = "piechart.php?p1&p2"; // php-generated image, with parameters

Embed Code From Linked External Page

Jan 17, 2009

I want to give a code snippet to partnering websites, so that the script on their page draws from a page on my server. I think "quote of the day" type widgets use this.I copied this code from a site and it works for them, but when I switch the url to a php page (containing only text wrapped in a div) on my site, it doesn't work. I realize this might also be a php question, but I didn't want to cross-post. Does it have something to do with the "jscript=1" variable being passed?

Load JS Outside Of Head Tag?

Sep 4, 2009

Is there a way to load up an external JS file outside of the head tag? I've got an "AJAX" web app that's loading several pages simply by changing the innerHTML property of a single div. The JS source is getting to be rather large, so I'd like to split it up into manageable, organized portions. Is there some way to, using javascript or PHP, load another javascript into the browser dynamically?

Absolutely Necessary To Put The Code In The HEAD ?

May 11, 2011

Is it absolutely necessary to put the JavaScript code in the HEAD? I have a lot of JavaScript code in the BODY and they all appears to be working just fine. What is the downside of putting JavaScript code in the BODY? What can go wrong?

Sometimes you can not avoid putting JavaScript code in the BODY. Like for instance, when you provide your members with a HTML code for a poll and the code has JavaScript in it.

JQuery :: Load Part Of PageB With Ajax Into PageA With Head Section

Sep 4, 2011

When you load part of pageB with ajax into pageA, what happen with the head section (title, meta, css link and script link...)

I mean, what is the best practice when you insert into the DOM a part of pageB with all the code (title, meta, etc...) that is associated with pageB. (initially i was inserting the whole pageB because of "gracefull degradation", but this inserts the whole pageB DOM into the pageA DOM).

Writing HTML In The <head></head> Of A Page With JS?

Dec 16, 2011

I know this can be done with media-queries in CSS3, After attaching the jQuery library, I used js to get the width of the window browser-viewport) and store that in a variable.

What I was aiming to do was write a <title></title> for the page and attach a stylesheet through <link /> using js only when the window's height was greater than 596px. So, I wrote the following:

Code HTML4Strict:
<!Doctype HTML>
<html lang="en">
<head>
<script type="text/javascript" src="../assets/js/jquery-1.5.1.min.js"></script>

[Code]....

Windows.open Source Code

Sep 20, 2006

On most EVERY commercial site (including the pages on comp.lang.javascript) I find the following code, word for word.

<script language="JavaScript">
<!--

function SymError()
{
return true;
}

window.onerror = SymError;

var SymRealWinOpen = window.open;

function SymWinOpen(url, name, attributes)
{
return (new Object());
}

window.open = SymWinOpen;

//-->
</script>

Is this some "standard" code that every Web page should have. Does it
control the opening of new windows when a user clicks on a newsgroup
message.

Put IFRAME Source Code Into Textarea

Jun 27, 2006

I would you grab the source code from an IFRAME and display it in a textarea?

I'm trying to create a sort of preview page that both shows a rendered page, then shows the source code next to it.

[edit]: I'm thinking that using OnLoad JS event in the HTML body tag would allow this to work. The page loads, the OnLoad event calls a JS function that pulls the innerHTML from the IFRAME and inserts it into the textarea.

Function To Get Source Code Of Page

May 17, 2011

I'm wondering, I've looked at several examples of this, but none seem to work. I can get POST functions to work (posting data to a certain URL is no problem). However, I can't get the source code of a page. Here's the function I've got so far:

Code:

I'm wanting to use this to use certain settings in the script on my web site that I have stored on another page. The usage is like this:

Code:

And then googlesource should be populated with the source code of [url]. Just an example. why the above function is not working? I've tried messing around with all kinds of request headers and everything.

All the function returns is "undefined".
