Single To Double Quote Conversion

I ran into this issue yesterday, and no matter what I try I can't seem to get it work correctly.
I need to parse out single quotes from a field, and replace them with double quotes, so it doesn't blow up later, like it did yesterday.
I've tried using regex, but I'm sure its not the correct syntax.
javascript Code:
document.all.SalesOrderForm.ShipNote1.value = document.all.SalesOrderForm.ShipNote1.value.replace(/'/g,""");
document.all.SalesOrderForm.ShipNote1.value = document.all.SalesOrderForm.ShipNote1.value.replace(/'/g,""");

am writing a function in js that requires me to assign an javascript value to an html element. But I am stuck at a point where I have to assign document.write value to embed object.
function ytEmbedPlayer(videoUrl,w,h){
var flashvars = {};
var params = {allowFullScreen:'true',wmode:'transparent'};
params.allowscriptaccess = "always";
[code]....
I am having issue here were, I have to print videoUrl value as an embed src.
<embed src="document.write(videoUrl)"
I think I am messing up with the single quote and double quote.

i have a long string contain html tags, javascript code, in a variable, & of corse it contain both ' & " in it.now i want to put all the stuff somewhere in my page, so i assume should use .html() for this. but i think because of this ' & " it does not working. what should i do?
var content_area = $('div#zone1');
content = ' stuff contain quote & double quote';
content_area.html(content);
remember i have both quote & double quote i can't convert all of them to ' or ".

I'm looking for a wee bit of regex help as I need to add a slash before any instances of double quotes in a string. I'm using an AJAX in place editor which is cutting off strings at double quotes - the following line is giving me problems when the text being edited has a double quote in it:

I am able to run perfectly the following
<li><a href="javascript:ajaxpage('login.php', 'ajax');">Login</a></li>
But not the following
echo "Welcome Guest!<br><a href=javascript:ajaxpage('login.php', 'ajax');>"
I removed the " around the javascript:ajaxpage('login.php'); as it was giving me syntax error. But I am unable to cal login .php upon clicking Login. I tried various combination of single quote and double quote but I think I am missing some fundamental rules of single and double quote combination....or may be something else.

I know that using <a href="javascript:"> and <sometag onclick=""> is evil, but in this particular situation it is quite hard to avoid it due to external powers Anyway here is the issue itself : putting javascript strings inside HTML attributes :

Everything is fine until there are single or double quotes INSIDE the 'string' value. Having a double quote inside the string, even JS escaped leads to the onclick argument value being cut :

If you replace the double quote by '"' then you don't get a double quote inside DoSomething (you could always replace " by " in JS).
Similar problem if you choose to enclose the onclick argument in single quotes and happen to have a single quote JS escaped inside the string.So, is there any other way of dealing with potential presence of single AND double quotes in the 'string' value, other than replacing them before by ' and " and then replacing them back inside DoSomething ?

I have two button "Add Single" and "Add Double".What I want is that when I press the "Add Single" a new row add with the single drop down list and when I press "Add Double" I would like to have the row with two drop down list. How to achieve this ? In the begining must I hide both the rows is it? Now I have the relevant function ready for both buttons but I do not know how to add the rows accordingly. I have a page that submits to a db then re-loads its self with new information. Unfortunately it goes wrong when the user double clicks on a one of many text links that provides the info for the display on reload. How do I stop users from double clicking on the page? Ideally I think I would like to call some sort of js function from body onload as I presume this would then cover the whole of the page, but have no idea if this is possible or how to go about writing it.

I have a string that I'm properly URL-encoding to be passed in a URL.
Here's the tag from the HTML source:

But when I mouse-over the link, the %27 shows in the status bar as a ' and
when I click on it, I get a JS error because of the extraneous '. The +s

so my professor suddenly took a left turn in class and we jumped from using HTML and CSS to programing in Javascript. It's not even covered in the book we're using for a text book. So I'm having some problems with it (big surprise right?) My assignment: Write a Java Script that will print out the Temperature in Celcius from 0 to 35, AND the corrosponding temperature in Fahrenheit. So basically it would generate the following:
0 Degrees in Celcius is Equivalent to 5 Degrees Fahrenheit
1 Degrees in Celcius is Equivalent to 6.125 Degrees Fahrenheit
2 Degrees in Celcius is Equivalent to 7.25 Degrees Fahrenheit
3 Degrees in Celcius is Equivalent to 8.375 Degrees Fahrenheit and all the way down to 35 degrees.
