Simple Form Redirection Script
Sep 9, 2005
I have a problem with a Javascript dropdown form that is supposed to redirect users to the site that is selected. It works fine in IE, but it supposedly doesn't work in Firefox.
If anyone here can point out what is wrong with this code, I would appreciate it. Also, if there is any way to compact the code down or make it cleaner, that would also be appreciated.
<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
function goto(form) { var index=form.select.selectedIndex
if (form.select.options[index].value != "0") {
location=form.select.options[index].value;}}
//-->
</script>
<form name="nav_form">
<select name="select" size="1">
<option value="">Select a Site
<option value="http://www.sitepoint.com/" />Sitepoint
</select>
</form>

I'm a non-web programmer being forced to do some web programming.
My immediate problem is that, on submission of a form, I need to be able to open a url (that I control) with the filled-in form values appended to the new url. In other words, I need to be able to do the equivalent of :
<form>
<input name="key1" type="text"/>
<input name="key2" type="text"/>
<input type="button" value="Submit" onclick="window.open('http://new.domain.com/newpage.html?key1=val1&key2=val2')"/>
</form>
I would really like to do this without server-side code.

I am trying to implement a simple JavaScript of redirecting my window
to a new URL upon clicking a submit button. This is an easy task except
when I have to put an input type='submit' in front of the onClick
command. It always commits the CGI action, and skip the URL redirect
part. The example code:

The form's drop down menu includes three cities (Calgary, Toronto, Vancouver). When the user presses "submit form", the script should create a cookie to store the user's city selection. Next time the user visits the site, they should be redirected to their city's site, ie. "/vancouver.html"
Right now, the code is returning an error from the onload("redirect();") function. The error indicates I am trying to redirect to "/[object HTMLSelectElement].html", but I am not sure if the trouble is in reading or writing the cookie. For simplicity, I've removed most of the other content from this page (my cookie.js is attached as a .doc):
<title>Site Title</title>
<script type="text/javascript" src="cookie.js"></script>
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
function redirect() {

I've been playing with this form validation method for a while and have
tried an array of things but haven't had any luck with a couple items.
1. The validateForm() function doesn't detect when the Min price is
greater than the maximum price.
2. The validateForm() function doesn't call isNumber() on the minBaths,
maxBaths, minBeds, or maxBeds.
3. Despite errors in input and the validateForm() function returning
false, the form is still submitted.
Here's the code:

I would like to do a simple check if a radio box has been selected.
The form doesn't select any radio box by default, because I don't want to influence the users choice or let them submit the box at all without doing anything.
The form is a simple 5 star rating which means there are 5 radio boxes and a submi button.

I'm quite novice at javaScript but I have a good background in other similar languages, so I find I pick up things quick. Basically I'm planning on reading through some more solid resources on this topic, but I'm kinda under the pump at the moment for something that I imagine wouldn't be too difficult with a lil nudge in the right direction.
I have a form (using PHP) to update a mySQL database AND XML for flash, for a simple news page. At the moment I have the BBcode style of tags ([b][eb]). I was wondering how I can make a rich editor myself with just three buttons (one for italic, one for bold, one for links) that displays the text on screen to the user as WYSIWYG, and outputs the [b] [eb] tags for my PHP code.

I have a form with many fields... the fields are getting values from a
database.
I've tried onunload to just submit the form regardless of changes or
not but onunload and submit isn't working for me. Now I need some
type of event that will fire when a user tries to navigate from a page
to check to see if anything has changed and if so prompt them
(confirmation) to take action or not.
I know that the reset button only takes away anything that was added
to fields after the load so there must be some way to use the logic of
reset to simply check to see if fields have changed, right?

I have a spam problem with my online form in [url]
I keep receiving spam and what puzzles me is that the spam script does not need to fill the required fields to send the form.
I tried to add a math puzzle by inserting:
and
However, the hidden field still shows on the browser (it doesn't show the value but it shows an empty square) and I can't get the form check to compare the values of "Filtro" and "Solucionfiltro".

I am in need of some very simple javascript to validate email address and a phone number from a form.
The email address only needs to:
1. Check that the box is not empty.
2. Check that the text imputted contains an '@' symbol.
3. Check that the text imputted contains atleast 1 Period.
The phone number only needs to:
1. Check that the box is not empty.
2. Check that there is no more than 11 characters.
3. check that only numeric characters have been inputted.
I would like it to report (failure) back as text on the page under the box that has the problem rather than a window.

Been racking my brain all day trying to figure out how to duplicate this code with the limited javascript knowledge I have been trying to learn.This code is a Dropdown menu of Yes or No, than a Select button that Opens up a Text Input directly below the dropdown. So far, It works great. My problem is I need at least two of these on the same page and I do not know how to go about it. I have tried changing values to accommodate adding another on the same form, but than both stop working.

I'm trying to create a simple registration form with ajax validation. I've got the form working almost how I'd like... a message appears on the page with the errors for each field entered incorrectly.
The problem is all the error messages appear in one div together and I would like to have each field have its own div containing only its own error.
I think I need to wrap my error messages in xml and use something like this -
Code:
- but can't seem to get it working
Does anyone know how I should modify my code to do this?
Attached are the 3 I'm currently using

I am setting up a web page to collect some data via a questionnaire.
The questionnaire part is working fine, but I need some help with one
part. I have two different versions of the questionnaire (basically
just different orders of questions) and would like the users to be
redirected to one of the two versions. The idea I had was to have a
redirection page that simply had a web page counter on it (like so many
pages have now days) and based on this counter, people would
automatically be redirected to one of the two versions of my
questionnaire. Basically, if the counter was odd, the person would be
routed to version 1 and if even, they would be routed to version 2. I
thought this would be similar to redirecting people based on the type of
browser they are using or their language settings. However, I was
recently told there is not a way to do what I proposed above. So, this
leaves me with two questions:
1. Was the advice that I received accurate in stating that having a
simple script to redirect the user based on a web page counter is not
possible?
2. If so, does anyone have some advice as to how I could go about
automatically redirecting people to one of two web pages?

I'm a CSS and PHP developer, finding myself using jquery and AJAX more and more, of course, and learning a little about it as i go. but only a little. :o)i have a client who's asked me to add an image upload feature to a simple comments post script i've "built". i can see, kind of, how this jquery is posting the form text inputs, but have no idea if this thing can even be made to post a file at the same time.Hoping someone might add a function for me to do this if it can be done?
$(document).ready(function(){

I have the perfect form for a client - but its missing one thing. She sells hair clips in various colors. A user can select a hair clip color and quantity quite easily (as seen in the code below). My issue is that she wants to be able to give the user a 'special price' based on the quantity ordered by the user. Contrary to simply adding the default price of $7 over and over again based on the quantity selected.The way I want it to work...
1 clip is $7
2 clips are $12
3 clips are $22
5 clips are....etc.
...however, with the way that the javascript is set up now I'm only able to select one default price. This means that whatever quantity is selected -- it's simply multiplied by the number 7 to provide a total.
1 clip is $7
2 clips are $14
3 clips are $21
5 clips are....etc.[code].....
