Shift Report Generator - Not Working Under FF

I developed this under Safari on my mac. I have only been scripting for about 1.5 days so I am not the best with debugging. What would cause this?

AJAX & PHP - Generate Report & Force Download?

Sep 10, 2005

I have a PHP application that allows users to generate a .pdf report of
their database content. Normally, I've had to refresh a page to call
the script to generate the report, so there's a second or so when the
browser goes blank. I was wondering if it was possible to use AJAX to
call the script to generate the report, then begin the download without
refreshing the page (or in the case of I.E., leaving me with a blank
window that you have to back out of).

The following code 'works', in that it inserts the pdf code in the
textarea, but I'd want to force the browser to start a file download
without refreshing the page.

BTW, I'm using the Prototype 1.3.1 library.

<script>
function searchSales(rptID)
{
//generates the report
var url = 'http://192.168.1.128/sendReport.php'
var pars = 'rptID=' + rptID;
var myAjax = new Ajax.Request( url, {method: 'get', parameters: pars,
onComplete: showResponse} );
}
function showResponse(originalRequest)
{
//put returned XML in the textarea
$('result').value = originalRequest.responseText;
}
</script>
<a href="#" onclick="javascript:searchSales(&#55613;&#57210;')">Click</a>
<textarea id=result cols=60 rows=10 ></textarea>

Shift Key Detection On Input

Mar 23, 2006

I'd like to detect the shift key when a button is "clicked" in
Firefox/Mozilla. If the button is clicked with the mouse, no problem.
However, if the onclick event is keyboard originated, then my method is
not working. Same thing for SELECT elements.

The simple web page below shows the issue. Click with the mouse while
holding down the shift key, and the Shift key's status registers.
However, use Shift+Alt+o, or either (while the button has focus)
Shift+Space or Shift+Enter to kick off the onClick event and the shift
key is not detected. Works fine with IE 6 on my Win XP Pro. Code:

I thought I had come up with a solid system, based on some other threads I read in this forum. It works great in Firefox, but IE seems to handle the Control key differently, also IE seems to ignore the arrows. Code:

Javascript : Pass Chkbox Value As Parameter In To MSRS Report

Nov 10, 2005

I am using asp.net to pass parameters from .aspx page to my Microsoft
reporting service.

My .aspx page has checkbox. If it is checked it the chekbox should pass
value =0 to my report

<INPUT id="ReviewedBy" style="WIDTH: 16px; HEIGHT: 20px"
type="checkbox" name="ReviewedBy" value = 0>

if the check box is unchecked it should pass value = 1. i.e.
<INPUT id="ReviewedBy" style="WIDTH: 16px; HEIGHT: 20px"
type="checkbox" name="ReviewedBy" value = 1>

Since the reporting service passes value directly i couldn't write any
server side code.

In client side validation i could diplay the value of check box in
alert message but i couldn't pass it as parameter to the report server.

Events With Shift, Ctrl Or Alt Key Pressed?

Oct 14, 2010

This is a proof of concept question ... that I've been unable to prove. Ultimate goal to is allow one button to have different actions with the Shift, Control or Alt key pressed for a link "<a...>" or a button ("<input type='button'" or "<button>.") click. The following appears to work in FF and MSIE on PC (with some side-effects), but not at all on a iMac using FF or Safari.

The display in the textarea shows that I can detect when the Shift, Control or Alt keys are pressed and an event is created with a mouse click. With a left mouseClick, the display shows

Belated PNG Only Works On Shift + Refresh?

Oct 21, 2011

I am at my wits end! I've added DD belated PNG to nearly every site I've ever made with little or no problems, suddenly it's being super-extra mean to me. It will only load PNGs correctly if you clear your cache when refreshing the page (shift + refresh). Check it out at the link below (obfuscated so google doesn't index the site):

NOTE: Just so everyone's aware, this is an IE6 only script that is supposed to fix PNG transparencies, so you'll need to look at it in IE6 to see the problems.

JQuery :: Get To Load Into SQL Server Reporting Services Report Manager?

Jun 25, 2009

I'm having trouble loading jQuery into SQL Server Reporting Services Report Manager. Since SSRS is a proe-compiles ASPX page, and we are not given the source code, we have little ability to make changes to the interface. If I could add jQuery directly, the progblem would be trivial. However, all we have the ability to modify is an existing Javascript file that is loaded at runtime in the head of each page. I have been able to get this to load relatively reliably using IE 8, but other browsers either don't load it at all, or only on the first pass. Here is the structure that I have in place:

JQuery :: Ajax Load Function - Show / Hide Report DIV

Jul 28, 2009

I have a function that uses the ajax load function to post off some parameters and fill a div with the returned content after a db query has been run to create it. This all works fine, however I would like to be able to replace the div with a loading graphic whilst the content
is generated. I assumed this was done by placing the graphic at the start of the function, then using a callback function to remove it and display the actual data once it has been fully generated...

However when I trey to implement this I am getting a strange result in that the callback fires before the content is generated. So my loading graphic disappears and then the content appears sometimes 10 seconds later. How can I ensure the call back only executes once the new content is
ready to be displayed ??

Here's my code ...
function get_report(){
// Hide #report_here div and show loading graphic here ...
$("#report_here").load("/admin/reports/statistics_report/", {
// Parameters sent go here
}, finished()
);
function finished() {
// Hide loading graphic and show #report_here div here ...
}

Create A Single Report From Multiple Forms On Separate Pages

May 18, 2011

I have made a site with 5 pages, each page contains a form. Each form is a checklist with a dropdown to choose an answer for each individual item.

Here is a same of the form code:

I am trying to write a script that will be called with onclick event from the "Next" button. This script will collect all the "notOK" option value/names and send them to a document, concatenating the info from the next forms until a single report is created with a list of all the "notOK" values. One the user gets to the end of the last form, there will be a submit button which sends the entire report to a specific email address.

Here is the script I have so far, which pulls the "notOK" values for each page:

This piece of code works great for an individual page, but I need to expand it to send the data to a report instead of window.alert, and I need to add some way of concatenating the data from each form to a single page, doc, etc.

Trap The Shift+click Event Of A DIV Works In IE And Chrome But Not In Firefox?

Aug 13, 2009

I am trying to trap the shift+click event of a DIV. Works in IE and Chrome but not in Firefox. Purpose of the code: The DIV provides a hidden link (no decoration) for an editor who wants to edit content. The DIV ignores a simple click (meaning a click without a combination of the shift key) to avoid accidental access to the casual surfer. Here is the logic of the code: DIV is clicked. call function to check for the shift key being depressed if the shift key were depressed during the "click", initiate access. If the shift key were not depressed, ignore the "click" Here is the HTML code:

Color Generator

Apr 1, 2006

My form allows the user to assign colors to different fields that are then
used in a java piechart/barchart applet as the colors of the different pie
sections/bars. It can be tedious assigning colors even with my color pic
tool especially as the number of different colors increases. The application
is data driven so it may end up requiring any number of colors up to about
100. Of course you want the colors to be as different as possible.

It would be nice to have an "Auto" button to click that will then fill out all the
color fields with a properly generated set of colors - that is colors that
are as different from each other as possible. Random colors won't do as you
might end up with very similar colors. Is such a program possible?
