I find JS more time consuming because I have to manually search line by line for a single error. In C++ or C the compiler tells me the exact line number of the error or at least what the error is so I can research it.
With JS, notepad or Firefox's source viewer doesn't indicate anything. Is there any software available that will error check JS codes?

Sep 22, 2010I've been trying to figure this script out for awhile and I've hit a wall. Basically, what I want to do for my organization's website is to use JS to display an image containing our hours and have it change each day of the week.
The hard part (for me) is that there are certain days we're closed. Ideally, I'd like a separate "We're Closed" message to overwrite the image carrying our hours on specific days (major holidays like Xmas, New Years, Vet's Day, furlough periods, etc. etc.).
Here's the code I've managed to cobble together (I have a real basic understanding of JS, so I've been pulling scripts from sites offering free copy/pastecode):

For the most part, this code works just fine. However, if I jump my system clock to December 24, the "closure.png" comes up appears ALONGSIDE the hours image for that day of the week. In other words, I've got two images appearing right next to each other - that's not what I want.
How can I work the code in such a way that when a closure date comes up (in this case, 12/24), just the "closure.png" image shows up by itself?

seems to be problem with it. I have table rows inside the <a> tag so I can
drag them and drop like in windows explorer. I would like to mimic also
explorer style of selecting multiple rows using the shift button. But when i
click on one of my rows using shift button then rows are selected but new
windows is also opened - and I would like to prevent this kind of action. Is

Shift Key Detection On Input
Mar 23, 2006I'd like to detect the shift key when a button is "clicked" in
Firefox/Mozilla. If the button is clicked with the mouse, no problem.
However, if the onclick event is keyboard originated, then my method is
not working. Same thing for SELECT elements.
The simple web page below shows the issue. Click with the mouse while
holding down the shift key, and the Shift key's status registers.
However, use Shift+Alt+o, or either (while the button has focus)
Shift+Space or Shift+Enter to kick off the onClick event and the shift
key is not detected. Works fine with IE 6 on my Win XP Pro. Code:

How To Capture CTRL+SHIFT+P At Same Time??
Oct 27, 2006I'm working on controlling a windows media player I'm trying to figure out how to control it with keys like CTRL+SHIFT+P to play it. The problem is that I don't know how to capture all three at the same time.
I'm ONLY supporting IE because that's what the client only want's supported. I have been reading through the forums but nothing about capturing both CTRL+another key or SHIFT+another key.

Ultimate goal to is allow one button to have different actions with the Shift, Control or Alt key pressed for a link "<a...>" or a button ("<input type='button'" or "<button>.") click. The following appears to work in FF and MSIE on PC (with some side-effects), but not at all on a iMac using FF or Safari.
The display in the textarea shows that I can detect when the Shift, Control or Alt keys are pressed and an event is created with a mouse click. With a left mouseClick, the display shows

Belated PNG Only Works On Shift + Refresh?
Oct 21, 2011I am at my wits end! I've added DD belated PNG to nearly every site I've ever made with little or no problems, suddenly it's being super-extra mean to me. Detect URL & Detect Something On Page & Show Content Accordingly?
Feb 14, 2009Can Javascript be used to detect a certain url and then "not" write some html according to that url and also detect something on the page and "then" display some html?.
Example: I'm working on a volusion site that uses asp. There's basically only one page that's changed dynamically. I would like to display some html when and only if the cart has any items in it. But also not to show up on the check-out pages.
The page dynamically displays "Your cart has 1 item in it..." when the visitors puts something in their cart.
So could javascript detect when this is displayed then write some html and then also detect if the url is showing the cart and then not show the html?
