Select A Value For Dropdown Box Based On An If Statement?
May 2, 2009
I would like to populate a third combo box with Week 1, Week 2, Week 3 etc up to Week 52 if a user clicks on the first combo box and selects Beacon Isle Resort for example.
If the user clicks on the first combo box and selects Ezulwini Sun however then I would like to populate the third combo box with Flexi Midweek, Flexi Weekend and Flexi Week etc.
I need to be able to populate either the Week 1, Week 2 etc or the Flexi Midweek, Flexi Weekend etc datasets into combo box 3 based on the resort chosen in the first combo box. I can predefine which resort will get which dataset but I just need to know the code to do this. code...
Ok so let's say I have this dropdown with a list of these items:
PALCO TRIBUNA ORO
And in a button on the page I want to send it one of those names, let's say I send it ORO, and through Javascript select that in the dropdown list. How is this done? Do I have to iterate through everything, and how?

I am starting to learn javascript and I had a quick question. I know actionscript and java, so this my mistake here is probably context...but I cant seem to figure it out. I'm trying to figure out how to create a conditional statement based on what button a user clicks. Here's my code:
[Code]....
This doesn't seem to work. Am I referencing this.value incorrectly? If so, what's the proper way to get information about what the user clicked?
Ive searched this forum for a simple solution to this. I want have a drop down of countries. Only if USA is selected, it shows states, otherwise it is hidden. I have a function which is 'trying' to write the state dropdown to an empty span.
According to [URL] intended way for jQuery to change dynamically the selected option of a dropdown select control isassigningthe desired text instead of the value. I found this way veryinconvenient (data structures usually deal with value codes, not value descriptions) and it seems to work only sometimes.
Trying different options I came out with this approach that seems to do the job so far:
function setSelect(pID,pSelectedValue) { $('#'+pID + ' option:selected').removeAttr('selected');
I have a php function that list all of the countries from my database as a select option, then based on what the user selects for their country im using jquery to make an ajax call and get all of the states/regions for that country. This part works fine. I'm running into an issues, as when a user login's in to edit their profile, how would I make the select change based on what is in the databse.
I've been having problems getting my select option to change the options of another select option. I'm not much of a javacsript coder, so I'm at a lost.When I select the first option nothing appears in the second option.
I'm trying to create a form validation that will alert the user if the dropdown lists contains empty valuesbut nothing happens with my code.What's wrong with it?
$('#compute').click(function() { if ($('.required').val=='')
I want the div with the id of "option2show" to be hidden unless the user has selected option 2 in the dropdown box.
If the user has selected option 1 then nothing will happen, however iff option 2 has been selected then the option2 div will appeaar. I would like this to happen before any submit buttons are press, so i guess onblur of the dropdown box.
I am working on a class registration system that requires students to register for a main class (101, 102 or 103). The student is supposed to select one main course as well as provide a second choice in case the first is not available. I have two dropdown select fields to capture data
1) Choice -1: 101 / 102 / 103 ( Student needs to select one - Reading the classID from classes table) 2) Choice -2: 101 / 102 / 103 ( If student selects 101 in Choice-1 then the only classes available under Choice-2 should be 102 or 103).
How can I accomplish the above? Further to this there are two fields on the form where I would like to auto populate based on what they have selected in Choice-1 and Choice-2.
For Example: If a parent selects choice1: 101 the child Choice1 field should autopopulate with 100. If a parent selects Choice2: 201 the child Choice2 field should autopopulate with 200
i am building a website form which I would like the user to select a product of interest. Some products are three tiered and some are two tiered.
1. Example of three tier (3 dropdowns required only):Scooters (dropdown 1)Three Wheel Scooters (dropdown 2) Delux 503S Bird Scooter (dropdown 3)
2. Example of two tier (2 dropdowns required only):Standing Bikes (dropdown 1)Children 300 Series (dropdown 2)
If the user wants to submit their interest for one of the products, I need to have at most 3 dropdown menus. So in Example 1, I would have 3 dropdowns in my form. Dropdown 1: Scooters Dropdown 2: Three Wheel Scooters Dropdown 3: Delux 503S Bird Scooter.In Example 2, I would only need to use the first 2 dropdown menus. (Obviously the first dropdown would contain 'Scooters' and 'Standing Bikes' in the menu list)I would like to alter the code so that the second and third dropdowns are hidden until a selection from the first drop down is made. Once for example, 'Standing Bikes' is selected from the first dropdown menu, the second dropdown menu appears and the third remains hidden due to the fact that it is not required. If I selected Scooters from the first dropdown menu, the second dropdown would appear listing all items associated with this and at this point the third dropdown menu is hidden. If i select 'Three Wheel Scooter' from the second dropdown the third dropdown menu now appears listing all Three wheel Scooters such as 'Delux 503S Bird Scooter'.
I have a page on which I have 2 dropdowns. Both are similar. I have a piece of code that whill make a textbox appear if we select "list Box" as the option in the drop down. But for some reason, the first dropdown works fine, but for the second dropdown, the textbox is always there on page load. The code that I am presenting can be copied as a HTML page and you will know what I am referring to.
<html> <script type="text/javascript"> function showfield(name){ if(name=='lstbox')document.getElementById('div1').style.display="block"; else document.getElementById('div1').style.display="none"; } function hidefield() { [Code]...
I have a form which has a dropdown menu on it. The last option on the menu "other". When "other is clicked, I would like a textarea to become visible, so that the user can enter the new information. Does anyone know how I might do this?
Here is the html for the form:
HTML Code: Union: <select name="union" id="union"> <option value="choose">Choose One</option> <option value="ibew">International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers</option> <option value="ibt">International Brotherhood of Teamsters</option>
What im trying to do is for each item selected from the drop down, display its value in a text box (GAC). I have attached a picture of the image to clarify.
The drop down items are populated from a database, and each item has an associated GAC value. The remaining inputs are user supplied and all the inputs including the drop down item and its value are is stored in a different table in the database.
So I have a dropdown box and when a certain option is pressed will show other fields... if not they stay hidden. However, I also need it to check a radio button that should remain showing.
Right now I have <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $(".dnuHide").hide(); $(".dnuHide input").attr("disabled","disabled"); // If option Other is selected for institution type, show text field for Other $("#region").change(function() { var val = $(this).val(); $(".dnuHide input").attr("disabled",(val=="DNU")?"":"disabled"); (val=="DNU")?$(".dnuHide").show():$(".dnuHide").hide() }); }); </script>
How would I modify that so I can also have ()Option 1 (*)Option 2 (already checked) change to (*)Option 1 ()Option 2
there was any premade dropdown menu which opens based on what position you are on the page.
For example, when I'm on the top of the page and hover the mouse over the dropdown menu, the menu opens upward instead of downward because the navigation is mid-screen. But if I was to be more than halfway across the screen and still see the navigation as it was on top of the screen and hover the mouse over it, the dropdown menu opens downward as oppose to up.
I've looked around and from what I can tell, the code seems right. Basically crating a JS array and passing PHP values to it to use in an onChange to fill a text field. The dropdown gets populated fine but the text field does not autopopulate onChange. I'm not too fluent with JS but have a good analytical mind and from what I can see, the logic seems right.
<?php include('connectdb.php'); $CENTRE = $_SESSION['centreAFB']; $qryFormList = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM tblLogin WHERE ACCT_TYPE = '2' AND loginCENTRE = '$CENTRE' ORDER BY loginNOM"); echo "<script type='text/javascript'> var formCourriel = new Array()"; while($resFormList = mysql_fetch_assoc($qryFormList)) [Code]....
I have a Javascript function that allows the display of a textbox upon selecting an option from a dropdown menu. In my case when a user selects listbox as the option, the text box appears. I want the same thing to happen when another option (checkbox) is selected. when I repeat the JAVAscript code, the first textbox(listbox's textbox) appears irrespective of which option(listbox, checkbox) I select. I want to be able to appear/disappear only the respective textbox. Here is my code.
<html> <script type="text/javascript" > function showfield(name){ if(name=='lstbox')document.getElementById('div1').style.display="block"; else document.getElementById('div1').style.display="none"; } function hidefield() { [Code]....
