I don't know any Javascript except for using image rollovers with the help of Photoshop and ImageReady, so please excuse my n00b knowledge.
I am looking for a tutorial that, when you cross over an image on one part of the page, text appears on another part of the page (e.g. describing that button).
I have a gif which when 'rolled over' swaps with an animated gif. I want it to sit on the last frame of that animated gif, regardless of whether it is rolled over again or not.
In other words, I guess I only want the rollover to work once. Possible
Isn't it possible to place a text at a fixed place on a picture with javascript ?
The text will be AJAX updated...
I am new to javascript, and am having an issue, which I'm sure is elementary.. I found a script for expandable content, it suffices fine. As it stands, the script toggles images onclick. For example, whence the menu is collapsed, it displays "plus.gif" next to it, and when the menu is expanded, it displays "minus.gif" next to it.
Basically, what I would like to know is, thus: how would I change it to display text icons next to it? For example, in place of "plus.gif" I should like it to display "+" as actual text. I've dredged a number of places, however, I've found nothing. Furthermore, I cannot figure out how to do it.
I want function to present something.png instead of the text for Good Morning etc.if (houris >17) display =gm.png;in this fashion.Also IE8 reports "clientside is undefined" as an error message, occasionally.My javascript knowledge is still rudimentary.

I have a text input on a particular page with the option for the user to type in a four-digit year. Let's say 1981 for example.
When the user clicks submit or enter, I don't want anything submitted, but rather javascript taking the user to url: http://www.mysite.com/year/1981

By pressing "Show" I want the text typed in the form to show on the same site, and then the user should have the opportunity to also place a symbol (the gif. file) the same way as the text and to be viewed on the same site too.
I have a form with several different text boxes for things like dates,
numbers, etc. arranged in a table, each row has the same kind of text
boxes for data entry (10 rows probably).
I want to have a separate section above the form where I can toggle a
div containing an appropriate error message to appear after the

The thing is, I want all the divs with their different text messages to

course the messages will be nicer than this.

The idea is that when scrolling over an image the related text will appear in the right column. This is to happen for each image with different text for each. The problem (as I'm sure is quite clear from using the site) is that there is a lot of jumping. When an image is not selected the images should stay in 2 columns with text to the right.
"Scroll over the images for a brief description of the services we provide." I doubt I'm describing this well but this is all new to me... I have used javascript to control these rollovers.

I have a web page, in a frame set, that has a table-menu bar in javascript.
It relies on the "movein" function attached to "onmouseover" to trigger the
chaninging of the elements background color, text color, and pointer when
the mouse moves over an element. On IE the code below works fine. In
firefox none of the movein function doesn't seem to be triggered (none of
the above effects occur) UNLESS I force a reload of the frame. Then
everyting works fine. Any ideas? Code:
Ok so I have a menu that has a tab you are able to close, the tab has it's own onclick function and in the top right corner is a link that is an X, to close the tab, which has it's own onclick function also. The Problem is, is that when you click the X, the tab function activates and then the X function activates. Is there any way to prevent this from occuring?

Essentially I have text on the left (sizes) and an image on the right.
When you put your mouse over the text the image needs to change to show the corresponding image to the text.
I know this isn't hard but I just mustn't be using the right search terms to find an example.
is there a way to popup a small 'bubble' or 'balloon' of text when a user lets their pointer rest over a particular part of an image? (an image map)
explorer does this sometime (randomly it seems) when i let my pointer rest of an image that has alt text - it displays the alt text in a speech bubble thing - but only sometimes! so that is no good. also netscape doesn't have this and obviously i want something that'll work in both.
the reason i want to do this is this - i've got a simplyfied map (a geographical map) as a picture. there's a small piece of info i wish to show for each country, but the map is too small to allow me to put the information directly on the map - so i figured popup bubbles would be a good way.
I've seen on various websites where you can roll over an image or hyper link and a text box pops up. Some are very simple looking while others have graphics. I'm assuming it's done through Javascript but I'm not sure.

I'm working on a website and am having trouble figuring out where I can add/edit the text for the navigation buttons, HOME, ABOUT, CONTACT, etc. There is a rollover.js file and the rollover effect works fine, I just can't figure out where to put the text for the navigation buttons and after a week of trying different things I thought I'd come here and try to get it working. My meager JS knowledge isn't enough. I started this website from a template in case you're wondering. Are the mousseovers DHTML and not js I assumed they were js and were connected by the external rollover.js file.

My problem is that when I hover over info1 and one of its sub elements (p or a), it activates the onmouseout effect. Only though when I cross that invisable box line that surrounds them.
So the effect is this constant mouseover/mouseout effect when I hover over the sub elements (Once I hover over the sub elements, img1 shows, but then I mouseover that so info1 starts to show).

I want the link to appear opaque when inactive but upon hover fade in darker.
I use a Time Date Picker Javascript code [URL]. It works fine with a placement problem. When you click one of the last pair input fields on the page, a drop-down list will appear from the input field. In my case, the drop-down list shows on the bottom of a page instead. I can't find the code controls the location of the list.
