Im working on a 2nd case .I need to replace the content of the welcome box

with generated text that displays the current date, and the name of a famous person born on that date.Including comments that describe each of the variables used in writing this code and the functions that the code accesses.
JavaScript learner, first time poster. When I grow up, I want to be a JS guru. In the meantime, if I had hair, I'd have pulled it out yesterday. I've been working for a few days now, trying different techniques to perform what I think should be a simple function. Here's the situation:
I have an HTML page:[URL]... ...which calls a function in a JS file on another server [URL].. which I did not write, nor can I change. The JS file determines the date and time, checks it against a list of conditions, then displays one of two gifs indicating whether or not an online help person is expected to be online, based on the date and time.
The list of conditions in the JS changes from time to time (holidays), so I want to continue calling the JS but the problem is the graphic it references does not fit into our available space for it. The function within the JS:
I'm would like to add a light box to a site that has content generated by php. Basically it is a property site and will have a thumbnail image and description. When the user clicks on thumbnail I would like to display a gallery of pictures relevant to the property. Each property will be generated dynamically by php. My question is how do I enter the selector for the gallery into jquery. I am thinking of using Fancy Zoom as you can use hidden elements, as the gallery will be hidden.
Tried searching but couldn't seem to come up with the language to yield any relevant results. My problem is as follows:I have a block of links inside of which are < smaller > tags which hold a generated piece of text. When a user clicks on one of these links (a.clip) I need the text within #fade to be replaced with the text inside of the < smaller > tags within that link. This is the code I have which only partially works...
$(".clip").click(function(){ var title = $('smaller').html(); $('#fade').html(title);
I have a web page describing a procedure using generic names. At the top of the page I have a text box. When the user enters a specific name in the text box, I would like the page to redisplay the procedure using the name entered in the box. For that I started like this: Code:
I have previously developed two scripts, both of which work really well, however I want to amalgimate them together if possible? My first script loads the content specified into a single div, replacing the content depending on which function is called, it also displays a loading gif during a timeout of 2 seconds. Here is the page:
I have a page where I am using JQuery to load text into a DIV when you click on a button. Each button loads different text into an existing DIV. I need to be able to give people a link to the page that will preload certain text when they get there.
For instance, there is default text in the DIV when you go to mypage.html, however if you click on 'button_1' it loads different text. I want to be able to have a link that will automaticall have 'button_1' text loaded if i give them a link like mypage.html#button_1 (or something along those lines) How do I do that?
I'm dynamically generating an image tag, and the final slash for self-closing the tag is not coming through, even though the slash is escaped with a backslash. Worse, I think this is screwing up my attempt to select the image in another function. Any ideas what could be causing problems? [code]The image does appear, but I can't reference it later on.While everything works fine if I drop the " img" from the call and let clicking anywhere in the div start the search.Any idea why escaping the slash isn't working?
I have a jsp file that is used to display data from Java objects running on my server. I'm using JQuery for tabs and to handle the ajax calls to a servlet that affects the Java server I have running. Each tab represents a service, and has a corresponding java object on the server side. These are generated from the spring configuration, and is working fine. The page is used to control some aspects of the service, and I have a few buttons that can be clicked. I'm trying to get it so that when a button is pressed, the appropriate Java function is called on the service's object (this happens using ajax) and then refresh the current tab.
My js code is like this:
function doPause(params) { //some additional params set doAjax(params);
[code]....
Right now, I'm using the window.location.reload(true) to refresh the whole page but I'd like to just redo the div for the tab that contains the button that has been clicked.I have tried:
I am using dhtmlxtree and I would like to display the contents of the drag and drop treeview (pulled from an xml file) from the Build your Template section on the left to the WYSIWYG area on the right.
I thought that by using innerHTML to display onclick() to the div will solve my problem, but thats not the case When I click the preview template button, I get an undefined error.
And I have developed an Ajax based search module that primarily does the following:
Lets the user select a Country and then loads via AJAX a drop down full of areas and then when an area is selected loads another drop down menu full of towns.
The Ajax functions fine and it all looks great in Firefox. But there is a problem with the background in internet explorer.
When the new <select> is loaded the background stays white in a small strip. Does anyone have any experience with this bug?
The scenario: 1) Generate a popup window via script. 2) Populate it (again via script) with content that features local (hash) links.
In IE 6.x this works - the links work as they should, moving the document to that document position. However in FireFox 1.x the links load the main page (the opener) in to the popup.
Both browsers populate the location.href of the popup with the main page's href... but this only adversly affects FireFox (which seems to, in this scenario, reload the whole page on a local link). I tried manually populating the location.href but no joy.
I've appended an example which demonstrates the problem. I've tried to shave it down as much as I could. Just save it to an HTML page and load it up in FireFox. Click the button then scroll down and click the link... instead of returning to the top of the page I get the opener page's HTML populated into the popup.
Any thoughts on how to address this? I've Googled, but it may just be that I've been unable to hit on the right terms to uncover the answer.
The id tag links to a js script on a remote server and replaces the "loading" text with the song title of the currently playing song on my shoutcast server, and refreshes this every 60 seconds. I want to be able to grab this song title and put it in a php variable. I don't have access to the remote server, so I don't have any other way of getting the updated song title outside of this little snippet. I tried using php output buffering but all that does is grab the html I posted above, and not the javascript-generated song title.
I'm very new to javascript, I'd like to do is replace "sdfsdf" with "New Stuff". <html xmlns="[URL]"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> <title>Untitled Document</title> <script type ="text/javascript" src="../../js/jquery.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $('#quizResults').html('<p>New stuff</p>'); </script> </head> <body> <div id="quizResults"><p>sdfsdf</p></div> </body> </html>
how I can change the code below so that instead of all the fade in fade out stuff the function will actually replace whatever is inside a div called Myholder with the response this script pulls in?
I am new to Java/AJAX and I am trying to create a script that will change content of a div. My scenario I am using is an index page with the list.php script included in the div I want content changed in. The list.php script will pull 8 newest titles from mysql and list them in the div. When you click one of the titles it will redirect you to a new page created by story.php. I would like this to be contained inside the div I have currently have the list.php script in.
I have looked at several tutorials on AJAX to do this, but they always call a static html page. Since I am not using a static html page I do not think this solution would work for me.
Trying to develop a small app for my site. What is the code to generate a random # of lines (1 min - 5 max) and a random phrase for each line sourced from a multidimensional array? These also need to be unduplicated (so I won't have quote 1 be on lines 1 and 4). How do I prevent random duplication with the generated lines of text?
The javascript below is looking for the word 'margaret thatcher' in the body and surrounding it with a link. It's lower-case but the script is ignoring the case so that won't matter. But, the problem is that because Margaret Thatcher is a proper noun, it will be capitalized in the body text yet replaced with lower-case text. How can I modify this script to look for the word while ignoring the case but use the same text it found as the replacement instead of using the text object?
I am trying to define an "onclick" event to a form button, so that when I click this button, content from another webpage will overwrite this page (not open a new webpage). I've tried the below code (sample) which is not working. <form action="/script" method="post"> <..other elements../> <input type="button" name="jump" value="Jump" /> </form> <script type="text/javascript"> $(':button[name="jump"]').click(function() { $(document).load('/path/to/another_page.html'); }); </script>
I would like to ask you for help with some behavior with replace DIV content. I understood why it happens but I dont know or I dont clearly understood how I can fight against. When I use ajax jquery call $load and replace DIV with new html content I lost DOM binding for new html elements. I read some articles on internet or on docs.jquery.com and found why.Because new DIV content was load after all page is loaded so I must somehow register new elements into DOM structure, and also i did found manual how solve my trouble on
<span class="date" title="May 14, 2009">14 May 2009</span> and I'd like JQuery script to output it as this:<span class="date" title="">May 14, 2009</span> Basically, I'm checking the browser language and I want to display all dates in US date format to all users with EN-CA and EN-US browser language (and UK format to all other users). Please let me know if there is a better way of doing it, I couldn't find anything.

I am working on an MLA citation PHP script for books, and I already finished that part. I have the page set up so that the user may add as many authors as needed. However, when I use the back button, I notice that if I have more than one author, the dynamic text fields are gone and all data after the dynamic text fields are not loaded back into the proper fields.I've spent the entire day searching for solutions, and I tried saving the code to a textarea, then using that code to insert it back into the page on loading. However, I couldn't get it to work.[code]
I have a div ( id="rightheader") and inside there is a table. The following code replace all content of the table with empty space and then remove the table header.
