I'm trying to make my form both check that the e-mail's match and also be case insensitive when being submitted. I've figured out how to get the e-mail's to be checked to match, but can't figure out how to also make it not case sensitive.

I want to put a form on my site where the user can enter some information, but I don't want the user to enter the same information twice over the couple of fields that I have.
Is there a javascript that can help to validate the form information or some other way? And if so, is it easy to do?
I am a beginner in programming however I am close to completing this task for my uni course and I know what method is needed "toLowerCase()" yet I am not sure on where it needs to be placed. :confused: If i paste in the question and then the coding I have done so far to discover if string s appears in any of the URLs in the array pages. Gives an alert of s together with 'found' or 'not found' as for find1C. [Note that the search should be case insensitive so that 'lboro' and 'Lboro' and 'LBORO' would all be found in [URL]... all remaining functions should also be case insensitive in this way]

How can I make my form disappear once the form has been completed and the success message pops up.
This script is designed to remove foul language from a document, the
question is that it will only remove what is put into the array, these
words are in lowercase, now how can I have the script parse the document
in lowercase?
If foul words start with a cap or their in uppercase the script won't
remove them.
I tried putting .toLowerCase(); into different parts of the script and
it powered me off a few times.

My problem is im trying to use string.replace that is not case sensitive and replace every string found. I could use regular expression with it but my stringToBeFound is a dynamic variable im getting it from my database
Ive created an asp based sign on page with codebehind. Basically how it works is when the submit button is clicked, it triggers an event which captures the values the user has entered, writes out a new form and passes these values to the appropriate fields in the form, and finally I have javascript which automatically submits the form. It works, but i have a few issues..

Also, the other issue...If I comment out the auto submit javascript and log in (it then writes out the form waiting for me to submit before moving to secure side) I can view the html source and actually see the values entered into the field. Of course, with the javascript not commented out the form submits as soon as it is written out so the user never sees it, but I'm thinking this could still be a security risk? Can I make these values invisible somehow?
I am using .NET UpdatePanels and the unfortunate thing is the browser always sends ALL form controls regardless of what UpdatePanel they are in. I call it 1/2 AJAX, and it's really inefficient by design.Q: How can I remove unwanted form controls from the request without removing them from the DOM? If I remove them from the Form element's DOM, they disappear from the page, which is not what I want.I suppose I would have to alter the xml -or- request data before it gets sent to the server but how do I access that, then manipulate it?

I need to compare these 2 in my form validation and having issues getting it to work right. If I do something similar to the following:if ((passForm.field1.value) < (passForm.field2.value) ) {alert.....It runs, but is running the validation, but is reading the values as text and literally left to right.
so for example
If field1 = 12 and field2=3 it does not run the alert (wrong)
If field1 = 12 and field2=100 it runs the alert (wrong)

ah, i've just looked into the operators in more details and -= is just for numbers... so this won't work. i presume this is going to be the wrong method then.
There are two input fields in a form, but only one of them is required, they are not required at the same time. Either A or B is required. ( A is required OR B is required). In other words, a user can input data to field A, or he can input data to filed B, but he can not input data to Both A and B at the same time. How to implement this constraint in Jquery form validation?

I'll get to the hierarchy sensitive part next, but for now I need help making this even work with two top-level links. I'm building a left-navigation that's expandable. Click a little + box image to the left of a top-level section's link, and all the links to sub-sections within that section expand out, the + box image becomes a - box image, and clicking the - box collapses the sub menu links. The scripts below work so long as I just have one top-level section, but because they us an ID for the +-box image, when I add a second top-level menu item, the swapImage function no longer works. So as an example a page will post something like this from a form

How can you completely remove "secondElement=2" from the
querystring... Before moving on to the posted page?
I know you can actually remove the element using removeChild in
javascript, and therefore it won't show up in the querystring of the
page posted to:
ochild.parentNode.removeChild(ochild);
But I was wondering if there was a way of doing it? A person can see
an inputbox for example disappear for a split second before the page
is posted... Is there a way of accessing the querystring itself in
javascript? Or some other way then removing the element?

View 12 Replies View RelatedI have just got myself a copy of SWFUpload to show the progress of file uploads, however, it has a few problems, one of which I am trying to fix with the aid of jQuery. Essentially, if JavaScript doesn't load, then a standard input file element will be shown. But, if JavaScript is enabled, then jQuery removes this, and replaces it with all of the input elements that SWFUpload requires. Is this the best way of doing it, or should I be looking at another option? If so, how would I go about telling jQuery to remove and insert the form field, and each and every attribute the HTML will require?

I am having a problem with the submit() method that is driving me nuts. I'm using document.form.submit() with large text fields (approx. 2000 characters) and am getting a "Invalid Syntax" error. If I do the same thing with a text field of under 1500 characters, it works fine.
Is there some size limit here that I don't know about?

From what i can see the fields match, it all links up correctly but still it will allow blank forms to be sent.
