Get Links To Change The External File Currently On The Main Page Without Reloading?
Nov 26, 2004I am in a bit of a rut in the self-teaching with JS. I am trying to get links to change the external js file currently on the main page without reloading, the external files are basically long document.write sections with a few interactive functions.
The closest I have found for help with this so far is a rotating script, but I want a manual change from a link (button, image, etc) instead of timeOut rotation. I am not sure what I need to do for the links to replace the timeout function to change the dynamic section.
Double Ajax Calls, Using $F The Second Time Returns Null
Feb 11, 2006I'm using the $F of the prototype library to send data through the Ajax
Request. I'm having problems using the $F to reference fields sent
back through an original Request. My first request sends a form back
to the user in the type such as <input text name=foo> and at the bottom
of the returned form I have a second ajax call to send the fresh data
to the another script. The problem is that the new data in the form
cannot be referenced from $F. My question is how can I pass the new
data in the javascript to another Ajax call either by $F or by other
means?
Null Is Null Or Not An Object Swfobject
Jul 30, 2011I did find the javascript twice in my code, once in the header and once here, so i removed it from the header. I also changed to src to the full url. But i am still getting this and i dont know why. the file is located in the root directory. found a solution. basically Internet Explorer is crappy and doesnt like the setAttribute property so had to change the onchange handler by directly changing the attrbute for the object like so.object.onchange = function() {}i have no idea what they means, does that mean i need to change swfobject.js or does that mean i have to change my xml request. and if it is the swfobject i have no clue what they mean or what lines

Jun 20, 2010My code is in the attachment alex.txt.When i press the button for first time it gives me error: 'null' is null or not an object. But when i press it again or refresh the page and press the button it gives me the result that i expect.When i change the var pdbfile1,2,3 values(for example with 2x4n;3gis;1crn) and press the button again there is the error again and i have to refresh the page again.

I want to replace the .10 with an external peice of data, so users can change the amount with having to open the script. Sorta like those early marquees' where the marquee text was inserted from a text file.

Php - Keep A Div From Reloading?
Jul 2, 2010Basically, I want the same effect as the oldschool html 'frameset' I think.[URL]If a user selects a project from industry -> transportation for example, I would like that the right scrollmenu keeps its initial state when the new project page comes up. So they won't get lost and have to click again to be in the same submenu section.So, the right thumbnail navigation should stay in the same way, I don't want it to reload.Do I have to do it with frames or iframes? Or can I make some kind of jQuery call to 'not reload' that div? Maybe PHP? I'm sorry, I am not a programmer from origin.
Update:I managed to put the whole thumbnail navigation code into a seperate php file, called sidebar.php. Now this gets called in my single.php (Wordpress) by <?php get_sidebar(); ?>.Should it now be easier to make this sidebar.php NOT refresh on page reload? I've been looking at cookies, php sessions, iframes.. but I can't get it to work.
Change Div CSS Without Reloading Swf?
Nov 8, 2011I have a flash embedded into HTML and at some action in the flash, a javascript is called that changes the CSS properties of the div containing the flash (postion, from relative to fixed)the problem is, when this CSS is called the flash banner reloads from the beginning.. I read about it, and it's kind of a bug in firefox.the question is, is there a way to change the CSS without reloading the flash?

Script With Document.write Inside Iframe Hangs First Time, Works Second Time (in IE)?
Dec 22, 2010I have put together a script which does this:
1. Make ajax request (via getHTTPObject(), no libraries is used)
2. Create an iframe with script, src is "blank.html".
3. use iframe.document.write() to execute scripts (inkluding document.write based scripts) in the iframe.
4. call parent window's document to clone the iframe content.
5. Append the content clone to parent body.
Works like a charm in all browsers but IE, where every version - including IE9 beta - hangs on iframeWindow.document.close() with empty cache, leaving the window/tab unresponsible. When I force quit, restart and load the page again (now in cache) it works.What I've tried already:
* Googled.
* called the ajax request callback manually with string instead of request.responseText - it works even with empty cache here.Removed document.close() - resulting in scripts in iframe not executing at all (again, only with empty cache, cached pages works fine).
* Tested to make the ajax request synchronous - no difference.

Automating Text To Change Daily At Specific Time To Website Viewers Time?
Sep 17, 2011I do pretty much all the computer related tasks, which includes computer system repair, audio/video editing, cd/dvd printing and duplication, document format and creation, etc etc. But when it comes to HTML (or other codes) I know very little. But we needed a website, so I use Homestead hosting and the Homestead (offline) Site Builder program.
Anyway, inside the sight builder program, they have the option to insert HTML Snippets. Which I use for various objects, off site tools, and other. But now I need to do something for which I have not been able to find a "premade" html code object, that can perform the task desired. I have searched and searched google and went through many sites, including this one. I have tried to take some codes which I thought I could alter to make it perform, but they just wouldn't work for what I needed them to do.
I need a code that will automate a "specific text message" to change daily, and to schedule a "different specific text message" to appear each day. I need to be able to schedule each days "texts" at the very least 31 days in advance. In other words, I need to make an array (I think that's what it is called) for the entire month:
Day 1 "today's text 1"
Day 2 "today's text 2"
Day 3 "today's text 3"

If were possible to make an "array" that would go six months out (or more) that would be very helpful! But the longest that I have seen is one month at a time, so that may be as long as they go, but I'm not sure.On top of all of this, I need these changes to be performed at a specific time of the day. I would like them to be preformed at sunset everyday, but I don't think there is anyway to direct the code to look at like [URL] sunset times or such. So if I can at least choose a specific hour, like 8:00 pm, that will work, I will just have to adjust this every once in a while.
However, I don't want it to change just at 8:00pm in my timezone. I need it to change at 8:00pm according to the website viewers timezone. Is there a way to make the code "look" at the users computer and "get their time" and use that to adjust what text is displayed? In other words, I live in Indiana USA. If someone in Australia looked up the webpage on the 15th day of the month, but it was 9:00pm Their Time. The text I need to be displayed should be for "Day 16" from the array.
Populate Select Boxes - Create Events, With A Start Time And An End Time?
Jun 3, 2009I'd like some direction on creating a small piece of Javascript that will populate my <select> boxes.Basically, I have a form for users to create events, with a start time and an end time. (These are the two select boxes).For example:

What I am trying to do is:
1) Have times populated in 15 minute incrementals from 12:00AM to 11:45PM

Reloading Original Frameset
Jul 23, 2005I have a site with frames. Like most sites with frames, clicking
links in one frame changes the page in the other frame.
Obviously, if someone puts in the URL for my site, they will get the
"homepage" when they first get there. What I would like to accomplish
is that if they leave my site, and then use the BACK button to come
back, that the site will open with the homepage, not whatever page
they were at when they left. Is that possible using javascript? If
so, how?
My site isn't actually "on the web" yet, so I can't give you a URL.
Changing The URL Without Reloading The Page
Sep 20, 2005I have a page that has several layers that I will either show/hide
based on a graphic/tab that the user clicks. (works perfectly)
On several of the layers there are forms that the user can update
information on. Well, after the user updates the information, I need
to 1.) refresh the data on the page(means a reload of the page), and
2.) take the user right back to were they started.
My problem is that when I refresh, the page goes back to the 1st layer
that is set as default to show.
So, here is what I did. I have two functions.
Function 1 is called when the user clicks on one of the tabs (Assets)
in this case. This will 1.) show the Assets tab and 2.) hide all the
rest of the tabs.
Well if I update that form for Assets, I need to 1.) refresh the data
and 2.) bring the user right back to Assets.
What I did for this (please tell me if there is a better way) was to
set a hidden field with the lastlocation of where the user clicked. In
this case the field value is now set to Assets.
So far everything is working great...
Well, if I submit the form because I've updating information, I need to
return back to the assets layer. To do this I set the location.url and
put a var in the url that I evaluate when I OnLoad the page. If the
value = Assets then I am able to show/hide the layers to get to the
Assets.
Again, this works great after much banging of my head against the
wall... Here come the problem.
Because I set the location.URL (I've also tried location.href) the
browser will automatically refresh. I do not want this. I want to set
the url and only refresh when I want to.
For example when I submit a form that updates data.

Reloading A Frame On A Timer

I would like to have reload every ten minutes or so. Hower, the frame I wish
to reload is a php script, which executes and creates a png image which gets

JQuery :: Reloading A Tab From The Inside Of The Tab?
Mar 30, 2011I'm working on a website that has four tabs, [#main, page1.html, page2.html, page3.html] if you click on tab2 it will dynamically load page1.html where there is a form that a user will fill out, and when they submit it, I would like to reload page1.html, or tab2 if its easier and in scope, to show new information.
However the only thing I have been able to do is fade out the 'main' div inside this tab, $('#main').fadeOut('slow'); but adding a .load('#main') to reload the div fails.
I've also tried loading ui-tabs-1 but I dont think this will work since page1.html doesnt have it defined, it's part of the page loading page1.html (where all 4 tabs are located)
JQuery :: Stop A DIV From Reloading?

I have a fixed position div at the bottom of the browser with image thumbnails. I am trying to figure how I can get this DIV to NOT refresh when a link inside it is selected. This will allow the scroll position in this div will remain in the correct location.

Page Keeps Reloading Because Of Tooltip?
