How do you print text on a website as you type the text into a input box or textarea? I've seen this in a few places but can't remember for the life of me how this is accomplished. I think I've done this in the past but have no idea how to do it now.
Basically, you type into an input box/textarea and it prints the text on the page in realtime just underneath the input box/textarea where you're typing.
I am trying to write a script that changes a textarea wrap realtime, basically like you can switch to and from "wordwrap" in Microsofts Notepad. Because of a bug (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=302710), FireFox does not listen to the textarea.wrap = 'soft' command. On a simple html page I included jQuery. The page contains a big form including text input fields as well as select list fields (with multiple values).
I want to combine the values from all fields (text and select list) into one (hidden) textarea.
I have a problem to solve where I have a Hidden set of 40 text inputs. A link to show 10 more of these in inputs at a time, all having unique ID's. The goal I am trying to accomplish is to set the focus to say the 10th input. If the "show more inputs" link is clicked then the focus should go to the next 10th input (really input ID number 20) and so on.

I have a problem created by my complete [rookie] status – only second time venturing into jQuery. I created a simple shopping cart using php and the PayPal buttons (1: buy now, 2: add to cart). The php back end does it great, it generates the table and the buttons and everything works just like it’s supposed to; Except, I forgot to add sizes. So I found out what I need to add, and I realize that the way the buttons work, I will have two different text boxes for size. Not very visually appealing, and since I’m not submitting this to the server before it goes to PayPal to pay, I cannot modify it with php the way I normally would. jQuery / javascript are my only hope of making this work. What I want to do:Have a single textbox where [size] is entered by the user.

I got this far, and then decided to find how to insert the "enteredVALUE" into the right place in the input text field (what I called output) and I've not been able to figure out how to stuff it in there.
I have taken a class on PHP and started making some math homework and drills for the tutoring I do. I have asked my kids for feedback and they are telling me that it is inconvenient to hit tab to go to the next text box (They have small arms/fingers..)I then thought of a brilliant ideaLet�s say it was 12 divided by 3. If they wrote a 4 in the input area, the JavaScript would recognize the correct answer and automatically move to the next box. However, if they wrote a 3 in the box, the JavaScript wouldn't move over.This kills two birds with one stone. The inconvenience of hitting tab or clicking on the next box disappears, and they are forced to put in the correct answer.Ironically, I have learned PHP and skipped over JavaScript. View 3 Replies View RelatedI am creating a small CMS module for a client. I created a little form and when they click Submit, it goes straight out into an include (.inc) file, which is connected to the web page to be displayed.
The trouble I am having is that I'd like to create an additional button that will insert some text (certain html tags to make their life easier, etc) - I got it to work, actually. The script executes and the text is inserted - but once the script runs and the page refreshes (or whatever it does), the text then disappears. The only way I can seem to get it to stay put is when I use "onmouseup" instead of "onclick" - which means that every time the user accidentally mouses over the thing, it inserts the text.
I wrote a script that tracks the number of characters a user types into a text box. It has a limit you can set, and when that limit is reached I would like to block the user from entering any more text.
How can I block the user from typing characters in the textarea?

The thing I wanna do:

Put the value of those input fields (by a klik on a button or something), in 1 textarea, so it becomes like:

I guess the title says it all. I've generated two checkboxes and two textareas via an ajax requst. When I later on call anoter function I want to get the valus from the textareas and to know if weather the checkboxes are checked or not. But that seem impossible to be as you seem not to be able to select an element generated after the page load, or am I wrong ?
