Thi is the code:
$(function() {
var content = $('#plu').val();
$('#plu').keyup(function() { if ($('#plu').val() != content) {
content = $('#plu').val();

I've created a checkbox and radio button replacement plugin (URL...), and I'm trying to be as thorough as possible.One situation that I have yet to solve is if a button is given the attribute checked="checked" through some external function. I'm not sure of how to detect this event so that the replacement image is also updated. The .change() method only works when the user actually clicks on the button.The reason I am trying to work this out is because I am adding support for disabled buttons as well. From what I've seen, there are plenty of situations where a button is disabled until a user either selects something else, or fills in required info, etc., and then it is enabled (most likely through the removal of disabled= 'disabled '). If the developer has already worked that in, I don't want the implementation of my plugin to affect that. It should just work automatically.I do check the states on page load, but i'm not running any sort of loop to constantly look for changes.

I'm trying to do this:
$(document).resize(function(){alert('yea')});
But doesn't work on firefox or chrome, only work fine on IE (WTF!) I'd tried $('body').resize... but happen the same. $(window).resize work fine but I need to detect when the body's height has been changed by ajax.

I am trying to validate a form with a couple of elements being required if a checkbox is NOT checked. Now if I submit the form the rules fire - and then I check the checkbox on - the validation rules have already fired - and even though the checkbox is now checked - the validation rules still apply and the form will not submit until I enter the fields.What I was hoping was that the checkbox could toggle the rules on or off.
var validator = $(".cmxform").validate({
rules: {
txtAddress1: {

Is there a generic way to fire an event when the state/value of a checkbox is changed by another event - i.e. not a user action. In this scenario, I have a set of checkboxes with a "select all" checkbox. I have the code written such that checking or unchecking the "select all" checkbox updates the state of all of the checkboxes below.
The extra requirement here is that some of these checkboxes have "children". So, when you check one of these, its children are automatically checked as well. So, what I need to do is check the main "select all" checkbox, which would then check all of the immediate children, which would then check all of their immediate children. I tried both an onchange and onclick event, but neither seem to be firing.
<html>
<head>
<script src="/scripts/jquery/jquery-1.3.2.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script>

I am going to be doing a simple page where I can add (for example) an item what will be visible for 60 Minutes and then dissapear, then simply I will ammend the content and put it on for a further 60 Minutes.
There will be a few Instances of this on one page and I am very new to jQuery but I am good at HTML / CSS and pick it up easy. The countdowns that I have seen on the internet dont seem to be what im looking for.

I am trying to write a script that changes a textarea wrap realtime, basically like you can switch to and from "wordwrap" in Microsofts Notepad. Because of a bug (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=302710), FireFox does not listen to the textarea.wrap = 'soft' command. Because I want the script to be cross-browser compatible, someone suggested to remove and immediately add a node to the DOM, so I now have: Code:

How do you print text on a website as you type the text into a input box or textarea? I've seen this in a few places but can't remember for the life of me how this is accomplished. I think I've done this in the past but have no idea how to do it now.
Basically, you type into an input box/textarea and it prints the text on the page in realtime just underneath the input box/textarea where you're typing.

I've been struggling trying to get a small order form to work the way I want it to. Here is a link to the live page: [URL] And here is the code in question:
[Code]...
I have two questions...
Question 1 How can I make this piece of script act a little smarter. Look at the order form, I'm catering for up to 4 people and providing lunch for them. If they select 3 people and the spaghetti bol for lunch, it's only adding $10 where it should be adding $30. Obviously this is simple multiplication but since the values in my form are prices it makes it a little tricky. I'm guessing an onselect on the first part of the form which changes the pricing of the other items would be the way to go, but how do I do this?
Question 2 The "Total Price" is placed before the <form> tag by the script. This is ok but it's not where I want it. How can I position this text elsewhere in the document?

I want to use MathML or maybe javascript graphics and essentially create a real-time math preview. So I want to have a text box where you insert your source code, and I want the preview box to update automatically. For example, say I want the preview box to refresh every time the user enters a space character. Is there a way to get only the new source code entered to render in the preview box without having to re-render the entire preview every time? For example, if a user types 2x^3, I want the math equivalent to show up in the preview window. If a user then types in " + 2x" I want just the " + 2x" part to be drawn right next to the already-drawn "2x^3".
Is this possible? Or is the only way to re-render the entire preview every time the user types in a new term? I would like to only change what the user has edited. If a user edits the middle of the math, then I have no choice and have to re-render everything after what the user has just edited, but when the user is editing the math at the very end, can I not just tag it on to the end and render just that little piece?

Can Javascript be used to detect a certain url and then "not" write some html according to that url and also detect something on the page and "then" display some html?.
Example: I'm working on a volusion site that uses asp. There's basically only one page that's changed dynamically. I would like to display some html when and only if the cart has any items in it. But also not to show up on the check-out pages.
The page dynamically displays "Your cart has 1 item in it..." when the visitors puts something in their cart.
So could javascript detect when this is displayed then write some html and then also detect if the url is showing the cart and then not show the html?

[code]I am having a hard time coming up with jquery code to have it so if I rollover something in .list that it will change the background image in #column2.I am thinking that building an array of IDs and IMAGELOCs would do the trick. Basically the PHP is going to give me IDs and Image Locations.I am just not sure the best way to write the jquery (cleanly) to perform the functions I want. I also want it so when you click the LI that the ID number that matches the DIV inside of #column2 will be shown.I understand jquery on a "copy & paste & modify" basis but having a hard time utilizing FORs and such.

I'm dynamically generating radio buttons, but in Internet Explorer (tested in versions 7 & 6), you cannot change the radio buttons after they've been added. In Firefox (testing in 3.6) it's fine. I've mocked up some code below which shows the issue. It generated up to 10 radio buttons (by random number) and checks that radio button programmatically. However you cannot manually select an already generated radio button.
HTML:
<form action="list.htm">
<div id="list"></div>
<button id="btnChoose">Add radio button</button>

I have an input form with an on / off switch that the user needs to toggle to make changes.The 'switch' is an img and when the user clicks it I get jQuery to load either the 'on' image or the 'off' image.
if ($(this).attr('src') == '../Images/off.png') {
$(this).attr('src', '../Images/ONICON.png');
}
When I set the switch to 'ON' I also get jQuery to enable all the input controls in the form (they are disabled by default when the form is opened). The problem I'm having is that when the user clicks the switch from off to on the first time it has to download the on image (I can see it pulling it down from the server in Firebug) and the controls are enabling before the switch says 'ON'. I don't have this problem when switching back to off again (I assume that the image is cached and can be quickly accessed by the browser):
if ($(this).attr('src') == '../Images/off.png') {
$(this).attr('src', '../Images/ONICON.png');
$('#ucustomertitle').attr('disabled', false);

this is the code snippet that i use in the buttons tag of jquery ui. reassign.php updates the records in my database as I want it and I can see the changes reflected in phpmyadmin. However, after the page refreshes (after location.reload()) , the changed values are not reflected in my webpage. even manually refreshing it doesnt work. when I manually changed the table values in PHPMyAdmin, the changes were reflected in the main page.

I've noticed that the change event isn't fired on a text input when it's value is changed by JavaScript. It fires just fine when I type in the input and then lose focus. Example:
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#textinput").change(function(){
alert($(this).val());
[Code].....
I think have JavaScript which changes the value of the input dynamically.
